This study focused on elderly caring issues and proposes Information Technology (IT) as the complementary tool of care activities, and it was aimed to identify application and feasibility of complementary IT for elderly care activities. Focus Group Interview (FGI) was conducted with current and potential caregivers respondents to explore caregivers' opinions and needs of care activities, and to suggest roles of IT which are helpful for elderly caregiving. The results showed that caregivers desire to check elderly care receivers' health, safety, and location whenever and wherever they want, and these caregivers' needs can be satisfied with IT by supporting caring ubiquitously. Moreover, this article provided more specific guidelines of IT applications for elderly caring services, so it expected positive roles of IT for elderly caring activities. However, this paper consequently emphasized IT must focus on only supporting and complementary roles of caregiving activities rather than alternative roles to enhance caregivers' caring efficiency and reduce their caring burden.

The purpose of the current research is to reconstruct the process in which changes in elderly support take place from the perspective of the elderly in rural areas. Six elderly couples were interviewed three times with the use of Schütze's 'autobiographical-narrative interview'. The entire interviews consisted of 17 sessions. Interviewed data was analyzed, following the method of Schütze's 'autobiographical-narrative interview analysis'. Research findings were as follows: Elderly support as experienced by the current elderly couples is mainly 'family support', which turned out to be 'dual structural shift' in the process of modernization. That is, there has been an 'internal structural shift' from 'family support on intergenerational, mutual support dimension' to 'family support on intragenerational self-support dimension' on the one hand. An 'external structural shift' has been noticed that realizes the 'socialization of family support' on the other hand. Additionally, a 'discrepancy' was captured between support norm and support behavior as occurred in the process of 'dual structural shift'. Perception on the 'dual structural shift' has proven 'ambivalent'. On the basis of these results, a critical discussion of modernization theory ensued, along with some implications for practice.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the influences of characteristics of the long-term care elderly and caregivers on caregivers' stress. The data of this study were collected from 105 long-term care elderly caregivers with 3 grade in Pusan, Daegu, and Gyung-buk area. The results showed that each stress of caregivers was influenced by diverse characteristics in various ways. Time-dependent stress of caregivers was influenced by elderly dependency and caregivers' health. Self-development stress of caregivers was influenced by elderly dependency, caregivers' health, caregivers' age, and relationship quality. Physical stress of caregivers was influenced by elderly dependency and caregivers' health. Social stress of caregivers was influenced by elderly dependency, caregivers' health, and relationship quality. Emotional stress of caregivers was influenced by relationship quality between the elderly and caregivers. These results indicated that the caregivers' stress was influenced not only physical characteristics of the elderly and the caregivers but also relational characteristics.

The purpose of this study is to explore Women University students' supporting awareness, knowledge and attitude toward the elderly. After obtaining the participants' consent form, survey was performed with structured questionnaire about characteristics, supporting awareness, knowledge and attitude toward the elderly. Collected data were analyzed with SPSS 13.0 program, which was used for frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficients. The result of this study were as follows. 1) Supporting awareness of participants was 115.50±13.19. Participants' knowledge was 10.21±2.90 and attitude was 84.19±12.19. 2) More knowledge and more positive attitude toward elderly were significant related to higher supporting awareness. 3) Supporting awareness of participants was significantly different by religion, monthly pocket money, religious service, supporting parents in the future, living with parents-in-law, though of ideal support system, father-grandmother(paternal) relationship, mother-grandfather(paternal) relationship, mother-grandmother(paternal) relationship and mother-grandfather(maternal). The finding of this study gives useful information for developing an educational management program for women.

In the wake of the radical structural change of the society, problems in family support for the old aged have arisen. Against this backdrop, the aim of this study was to examine aspects of the conflicts in family support focusing on novels by Park Wan-seo, and to analyze the expression of the family support awareness within the social consciousness. The purpose of the study is examining the mediation effect of caregiver burden's segmentalized sub factors between dementia caregivers on the relationship between Symptom extent of dementia patients and Suicidal Ideation of dementia caregiver, and suggesting social welfare intervention methods for dementia caregiver The survey is targeted to demented elderly people and caregivers, and currently using medical care institution and day care center in Seoul, Gyeonggi Province and Pusan city. As a result of the survey, 415 cases were collected for the final analysis. In data analysis process, we used SPSS 21.0 for the mediation effect of conversational satisfaction and its significance, and the results are following. First, 21% of the caregivers responded that they had thoughts of suicide in the past year. Second, Symptom extent of dementia patients was positively related to caregiver burden. Third, worse in family relationships, which is sub factors of mediate variable, has partial mediate effect on the model. Based on these outcomes, we suggest the importance and necessity of improved approach about dementia elderly and caregiver between elderly couple as way to reduce caregiver burden and proposed social work-based intervention program for enhancing this.

This study examines the differences of support exchange and factors impacting on the support exchange between the elderly and their grown-up children in 2011. Socioeconomic variables are introduced as independent variables. Emotional, physical, and financial support exchanges are used as dependent variables. Descriptive statistics and multiple analysis of variance are used for the statistical analysis. Findings of this study are as follows: First, the support exchanges between the grown-up children living with parents and elderly parents are significantly varied by the socioeconomic factors. Second, the support exchanges between the children not living with their parents and the elderly parents are significantly varied by the socioeconomic factors. A majority of the elderly are suffering from financial difficulties and they do not receive appropriate supports from their grown-up children. On the other hand, it turned out that the elderly parents are highly contributable to provide the emotional support for their family members, and provide the emotional support to their grown-up children.

Korea is entering into an "Aging Society" rapidly. In this currency, the Elderly Supporting Problems is emerging as a main issue of elderly welfare services policy. The study is based on the welfare panel data of 2016 (11th), and it is divided into the national selection group and the family selection group who are in charge of the elderly welfare services in terms of operation and delivery and financial burden. And analyzed the factors that affected the effect. As the result of the analysis, it is found that the higher the age of the elderly, the higher the age and education level, The more we experience welfare services, the more we receive public pensions, the greater the responsibility of the elderly, the greater the elderly spending. It is meaningful to provide basic data for solving the elderly supporting problem at the present time which is not sufficient for the elderly welfare system.

This study presents limitations of the old family supported system for the elderly being surfaced in the face of the changing life style of the people in today's industrialized, urban Korean society. The qualitative data used for this study are collected from the focus group discussions(FGD). The FGD data numbered a total of 43 participants who were divided into 8 different groups, each consisting of 5-6 respondents sorted out by sex and age as well as by their current cohabitation with their parents or having such experience in the past. The study paid special attention focusing on the values and the expectations regarding the elderly support and the family relationship. A critical reexamination of the old family support system for the elderly at this particular juncture is also a step forward necessary for the eventual formulation of policy measures by the state and the society to produce a new viable support system for the elderly in the future.

This study is to understand how experiences of, knowledge of, and attitude toward the aged affect consciousness of supporting the aged among students of social welfare. 702 students majoring in social welfare at university in the capital and regional area were selected for this study from May to June, 2011. The result revealed that there are factors affecting consciousness of supporting the aged such as their attitude, physical ad physiological knowledge, and volunteer experiences and positive experiences in cohabitation with the aged. On the basis of these results, it is expected that the outcomes of this study will contribute to promote the students' consciousness about supporting the aged.
