Design of Low-Complexity 128-Bit AES-CCM* IP for IEEE 802.15.4-Compatible WPAN Devices (IEEE 802.15.4 호환 WPAN 기기를 위한 낮은 복잡도를 갖는128-bit AES-CCM* IP 설계)

  • Recently, as WPAN (Wireless Personal Area Network) becomes the necessary feature in IoT (Internet of Things) devices, the importance of data security also hugely increases. In this paper, we present the low-complexity 128-bit AES-$CCM^*$ hardware IP for IEEE 802.15.4 standard. For low-cost and low-power implementation which is essentially required in IoT devices, we propose two optimization methods. First, the folded AES(Advanced Encryption Standard) processing core with 8-bit datapath is presented where composite field arithmetic is adopted for reduced hardware complexity. In addition, to support $CCM^*$ mode defined in IEEE 802.15.4, we propose the mode-toggling architecture which requires less hardware resources and processing time. With the proposed methods, the gate count of the proposed AES-$CCM^*$ IP can be lowered up to 57% compared to the conventional architecture.

  • SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is a signaling protocol to provide IP-based VoIP (Voice over IP) service. However, many security vulnerabilities exist as the SIP protocol utilizes the existing IP based network. The SIP Malformed message attacks may cause malfunction on VoIP services by changing the transmitted SIP header information. Additionally, there are several threats such that an attacker can extract personal information on SIP client system by inserting malicious code into SIP header. Therefore, the alternative measures should be required. In this study, we analyzed the existing research on the SIP anomaly message detection mechanism against SIP attack. And then, we proposed a Co-occurrence based SIP packet analysis mechanism, which has been used on language processing techniques. We proposed a association rule generation and an attack detection technique by using the actual SIP session state. Experimental results showed that the average detection rate was 87% on SIP attacks in case of using the proposed technique.

  • World Wide Web has potential possibility of infrastructure for parallel computing environment connecting massive computing resources, not just platform to provide and share information via browser. The approach of Web-based parallel computing has many advantages of the ease of accessibility, scalability, cost-effectiveness, and utilization of existing networks. Applet has the possibility of decomposing the independent/parallel task, moving over network, and executing in computers connected in Web, but it lacks in the flexibility due to strict security semantic model. Therefore, in this paper, Web-based parallel computing environment using mobile agent, Aglet (Agile applet) was designed and possible implementation technologies and architecture were analyzed. And simple simulation and analysis was done compared with applet-based approach.

Detecting ShellCode Using Entropy (엔트로피를 이용한 ShellCode 탐지 방법)

  • Hackers try to achieve their purpose in a variety of ways, such as operating own website and hacking a website. Hackers seize a large amount of private information after they have made a zombie PC by using malicious code to upload the website and it would be used another hacking. Almost detection technique is the use Snort rule. When unknown code and the patterns in IDS/IPS devices are matching on network, it detects unknown code as malicious code. However, if unknown code is not matching, unknown code would be normal and it would attack system. Hackers try to find patterns and make shellcode to avoid patterns. So, new method is needed to detect that kinds of shellcode. In this paper, we proposed a noble method to detect the shellcode by using Shannon's information entropy.

  • Digital forensics refers to finding electronic evidences related to crimes. As cyber crimes are increasing daily, digital forensics for finding electronic evidences is also becoming important. At present, various aspects of digital forensics have being researched including the overall process model and analysis techniques such as network forensics, system forensics and database forensics for digital forensics. Regarding database forensics, only analysis techniques dependent on specific vendors have been suggested. And general process models and analysis techniques which can be used in various databases have not been studied. This paper proposes an integrated process model and analysis technique for database forensics. The proposed database forensics model (DFM) allows us to solve problems and analyze databases according to the situation and purpose, and to use a standard model and techniques for various database analyses. In order to test our model(DFM), we applied it to various database analyses. And we confirmed the results of our experiment that it can be applicable to acquisition in the scene as well as analysis of data relationships.

  • Recently, the rapid development of network technology has enabled people to use various services on the internet. However, the existing password-based user authentication system used in the internet environment requires a password table, which is a potential security threat as it could be leaked by an insider. To solve this issue, remote user authentication methods that do not require a user password table have been proposed. Regarding remote user authentication using a smart card in particular, various methods have been suggested to reduce expenses and to improve stability and efficiency, but the possibility of impersonation attacks and password-guessing attacks using information saved in a user's smart card still exist. Therefore, this study proposes a remote user authentication method that can safeguard against impersonation attacks and password guessing attacks, by analyzing weak points of conventional methods and creating a smart card's ID and password that are based on the user's ID and password.

  • In this paper, we present an anonymous authentication and location assurance protocol for secure location-aware services over vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs). In other to achieve our goal, we propose the notion of a location-aware signing key so as to strongly bind geographic location information to cryptographic function while providing conditional privacy preservation which is a desirable property for secure vehicular communications. Furthermore, the proposed protocol provides an efficient procedure based on hash chain technique for revocation checking to effectively alleviate communication and computational costs on vehicles in VANETs. Finally, we demonstrate comprehensive analysis to confirm the fulfillment of the security objectives, and the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed protocol.

Design and Implementation of HDFS Data Encryption Scheme Using ARIA Algorithms on Hadoop (하둡 상에서 ARIA 알고리즘을 이용한 HDFS 데이터 암호화 기법의 설계 및 구현)

  • Due to the growth of social network systems (SNS), big data are realized and Hadoop was developed as a distributed platform for analyzing big data. Enterprises analyze data containing users' sensitive information by using Hadoop and utilize them for marketing. Therefore, researches on data encryption have been done to protect the leakage of sensitive data stored in Hadoop. However, the existing researches support only the AES encryption algorithm, the international standard of data encryption. Meanwhile, Korean government choose ARIA algorithm as a standard data encryption one. In this paper, we propose a HDFS data encryption scheme using ARIA algorithms on Hadoop. First, the proposed scheme provide a HDFS block splitting component which performs ARIA encryption and decryption under the distributed computing environment of Hadoop. Second, the proposed scheme also provide a variable-length data processing component which performs encryption and decryption by adding dummy data, in case when the last block of data does not contains 128 bit data. Finally, we show from performance analysis that our proposed scheme can be effectively used for both text string processing applications and science data analysis applications.

  • A ubiquitous network environment is a system where the user can avail of the network's services anytime, anywhere. To establish such an environment, studies continue being conducted on wireless communication technology and mobile terminals. The company that provides such services should have an established system for authentication, authorization and charging for users. This service is referred to as Authentication, Authorization, Accounting(AAA), and its aspects have been consistently studied. On the other hand, existing studies have been promoted with regard to the authentication and efficiency of the mobile terminal. One of the method is that the mobile terminal contacts to the home authentication server through the external authentication server every time it is required and; another one is to use a medium server to provide authentication in the middle between them. Thus, this study aims to determine the best method to use ticketing, where tickets are provided through a mobile terminal, complete with authentication and authorization features. Also, as it uses ticket, it can efficiently provide mobile verification processing.

  • Web service is defined to support interoperable machine to machine interaction over a network and defined as distributed technologies. Recently in web service environment, security has become one of the most critical issues. An attacker may expose user privacy and service information without authentication. Furthermore, the users of web services must temporarily delegate some or all of their behalf. This results in the exposure of user privacy information by agents. We propose a delegation model for providing safety of web service and user privacy in ubiquitous computing environments. In order to provide safety of web service and user privacy, XML-based encryption and a digital signature mechanism need to be efficiently integrated. In this paper, we propose web service management server based on XACML, in order to manage services and policies of web service providers. For this purpose, we extend SAML to declare delegation assertions transferred to web service providers by delegation among agents.
