Implementation of IEEE 802.15.4a Software Stack for Ranging Accuracy Based on SDS-TWR (SDS-TWR 기반의 거리측정 정확도를 위한 IEEE 802.15.4a 소프트웨어 스택 구현)

  • The localization accuracy in wireless sensor networks using ranging-based localization algorithms is greatly influenced by the ranging accuracy. Software implementation of HAL(Hardware Abstraction Layer) and MAC(Medium Access Layer) should seamlessly deliver the raw performance of ranging-based localization provided by hardware capability fully to the applications without degrading the raw performance. This paper presents the design and implementation of the software stack for IEEE 802.15.4a which supports normal ranging mode of the Nanotron's NA5TR1 RF chip. The experiment results shows that average ranging error rate with our implementation is 24.5% for the normal mode of the SDS-TWR ranging scheme.

Estimation of the VKT(vehicle kilometers traveled) in Urban Areas using Regression Kriging (회귀크리깅 기법을 이용한 도시부 차량주행거리 산정)

  • Network performance measure has been more and more important in transportation sector because traffic congestion has been steadily increasing in urban area. VKT is defined a sum of traveled distances of whole vehicles on the road network and one of the most important measure of effectiveness (MOE) for network performance measure. This paper aims to propose a methodology for estimating VKT and to apply it to calculate VKT in 6 major cities in Korea. We calculate VKT in 6 major cities by estimating traffic volumes on the uncollected road sections using regression kriging. It is expected that the proposed methodology can be applied various cities.

  • In wireless sensor networks, the geographical positioning scheme is one of core technologies for sensor applications such as disaster monitoring and environment monitoring. For this reason, studies on range-free positioning schemes have been actively progressing. The density probability scheme based on central limit theorem and normal distribution was proposed to improve the location accuracy in non-uniform sensor network environments. The density probability scheme measures the final positions of unknown nodes by estimating distance through the sensor node communication. However, it has a problem that all of the neighboring nodes have the same 1-hop distance. In this paper, we propose an efficient sensor positioning scheme that overcomes this problem. The proposed scheme performs the second positioning step through the sensing range control after estimating the 1-hop distance of each node in order to minimize the estimation error. Our experimental results show that our proposed scheme improves the accuracy of sensor positioning by about 9% over the density probability scheme and by about 48% over the DV-HOP scheme.

  • 본 논문에서는 다수의 공중무인기로 구성된 이동센서네트워크를 이용하여 유해 지역 또는 인력 접근이 제한된 지역 감시를 고려한다. 공중무인기는 기존 무인기와 달리 이동 제약이 적으며 기동성이 뛰어나 다양한 분야에서 활용이 가능하다. 그러나 다수의 공중무인기를 이용하여 센서네트워크 구축할 경우 지상 관제센터의 한정된 자원으로 인해 개별 공중무인기 제어에 한계가 있다. 따라서 최소한의 중앙 제어를 통한 신속한 네트워크 구축, 관심 지역으로 위치 이동 그리고 자율적 협업을 통한 센싱커버리지 최대화를 위한 알고리즘이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 공중무인기의 제한된 센싱 거리와 통신 거리를 바탕으로 다수의 공중무인기를 이용한 가상력 기반 협력 감시 네트워크 구성을 고려한다. 또한 시뮬레이션을 통해 관리자의 별도의 제어 없이 다수 공중무인기의 자율 감시 네트워크를 구축과 지역 감시가 가능함을 보인다.

  • 실제 공간에서 네트워크를 통해 지역적으로 산재해 있는 통신 노드들에 관한 최단거리 문제 등을 위시한 각종 지리적 요소를 지니고 있는 문제들을 다루는 것은 복잡할 뿐만 아니라, 환경 및 상태 의존적이라 용이하지 않다고 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 네트워크를 통해 존재하는 실제 공간상에서의 지리적 성격의 문제를 특정 공간상의 문제로 매핑하여, 형식화(formalization)함으로써, 그 공간상에서의 수학적 문제로 변환하여 접근할 수 있는 효율적이고 간단한 방법을 제안한다. 그리하여 인터넷상에서의 2 노드 간의 최단 거리 문제를 위한 접근으로서, 본 논문에서 제안된 공간상에서의 두 노드 간의 수학적 거리를 정의하여 정형화된 수학적 최단거리를 구하도록 한다.

Road Network Distance based User Privacy Protection Scheme in Location-based Services (위치 기반 서비스에서 도로 네트워크의 거리 정보를 이용한 사용자 정보 은닉 기법)

  • Recent development in wireless communication technology like GPS as well as mobile equipments like PDA and cellular phone makes location-based services (LBSs) popular. However, because users request a query to LBS servers by using their exact locations while moving on the road network, users' privacy may not be protected in the LBSs. Therefore, a mechanism for users' privacy protection is required for the safe and comfortable use of LBSs by mobile users. For this, we, in this paper, propose a road network distance based cloaking scheme supporting user privacy protection in location-based services. The proposed scheme creates a cloaking area by considering road network distance, in order to support the efficient and safe LBSs on the road network. Finally, we show from our performance analysis that our cloaking scheme outperforms the existing cloaking scheme in terms of cloaking area and service time.

A Novel Range-Free Localization Algorithm for Anisotropic Networks to enhance the Localization Accuracy (비등방성 네트워크에서 위치 추정의 정확도를 높이기 위한 향상된 Range-Free 위치 인식 기법)

  • DV-Hop is one of the well known range-free localization algorithms. The algorithm works well in case of isotropic network since the sensor and anchor nodes are placed in the entire area. However, it results in large errors in case of anisotropic networks where the hop count between nodes is not linearly proportional to the Euclidean distance between them. Hence, we proposed a novel range-free algorithm for anisotropic networks to improve the localization accuracy. In the paper, the Euclidean distance between anchor node and unknown node is estimated by the average hop distance calculated at each hop count with hop count and distance information between anchor nodes. By estimating the unknown location of nodes with the estimated distance estimated by the average hop distance calculated at each hop, the localization accuracy is improved. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has more accuracy than DV-Hop.

Optimized Handoff Scheme with Fuzzy logic in Heterogeneous Vehicular Mobile Networks (이종의 차량 모바일 네트워크에서 퍼지 로직을 이용한 최적의 핸드오프 기법)

  • The development of wireless communication systems has resulted in the availability of several access technologies at any geographic area, such as 3G networks, wireless local area networks (WLANs) and wireless broadband networks. The development of these technologies is provided for users who have experienced mobile network environments which are slow or fast-movement environment and change distance between the AP(Access Point). This paper describes network performance issues in various environmental changes. Also, Fuzzy logic is applied to evaluate the performance in vehicle networks around users' environmental factors to focusing on the minimizing of transfer time and costs. First, WLAN and 3G networks fixed distance between AP, Second, WLAN and 3G networks random distance between APs, finally above two environmental with vehicle Ad hoc networks is analyzed. These V2I and V2V environmental condition are assumed. Results which based on Fuzzy logic suggest an optimal performance in vehicle network environments according to vehicle speed and distance between APs. Proposed algorithm shows 21% and 13% improvement of networks performance in V2I and V2V environment.

  • Heterogeneous field sensor network between sensor to sensor is designed the CAN method to bus type structure in most using at industry. This Network is supporting a distance vector routing protocol on a characteristic structural a bus type. Also This network support to convert as making separate routing table in heterogeneous network. However distance vector routing protocol make a problem of decrease efficiency because of restriction of network expandability and low transmission process. We propose new CAN routing protocol to support network expandability and high transmission process of industry network. New CAN routing protocol structure addition priority and optional function field based on RIPv2. We established heterogeneous field sensor network, we measure data Throughput(bits/sec) for confirm new CAN routing protocol to increase efficient in industry.

  • As there are few documents about how to design and implement a sensor network with Z-Stack, developers can get information from developer's community on Internet. That takes longer time to develop the network. This paper presents how to design and implement a range measuring sensor network with Z-Stack's Generic application and ultrasonic sensors based on CC2530, and then show experimental results through the implemented network. This work will make less time for a developer to implement a sensor network with Z-Stack.
