An Exploratory Study of Image Retrieval Using Aesthetic Impressions (심미적 인상을 이용한 이미지 검색에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, aesthetic impressions were used for a high-level feature of image retrieval. The term, 'aesthetic' has been studied in psychology, art, and literature. It means unconscious, instantaneous parts of visual perception and emotion. The literatures related to aesthetic impressions were reviewed and four kinds of aesthetic impressions were defined operationally : strong impression, soft impression, courteous impression, and refined impression. 66 image files of paintings were sampled randomly from 1100 paintings and low-level color features were extracted from them by a using perceptual color model(Lai, & Tait, 1998). The high-level features of an image, that is, four kinds of aesthetic impressions of each painting were measured by 4 subjects and averaged. In CBIR, 2 subjects performed image retrievals using example queries. They were asked to retrieve images by using the aesthetic impressions or the keywords. In evaluations, subjects showed that they were satisfied with the aesthetic impression-based image retrieval system on the average. And R-precision of the image retrieval with both color features and aesthetic impressions was higher than that of the image retrieval with color features only. But further studies with larger test collections and query sets should be followed for generalization of the result of this study.

Development and Application of Self-Evaluation Test Items for Secondary Science Teacher Professional Growth (중등 과학교사의 전문성 향상을 위한 자기평가 도구의 개발과 적용)

  • The purpose of this paper was to develop and execute self-appraisal test items on secondary science teachers. Test items included 6 sub-fields-subject knowledge, teaching strategies, teaching skills, assessment, laboratory management, and professional development - and 77 items. Using these test items, science teachers were able to evaluate their ability as prescribed by a 5-point Likert scale. Furthermore, teachers were able to comprehend fields showing their highest and lowest scores among the 6 sub-fields. They could then place special attention on the lowest field insuring self-growth as a science teacher. Self-appraisal test items were developed by analyzing related references on teacher evaluation criteria and standards. 220 subjects composed the sample on which these test items were executed. The results of this study were as follows. First, content validity of the test items was 80.8%. The range of sub-field reliabilities was .76 - .86 and the reliability coefficient of the entire test was .95. The range of correlation coefficient between each subfield was .54 - .69 and that of subfields and entire test was .54 - .79. The correlation coefficient between professional development and the whole test was .79, the highest coefficient observed. Second, significant difference was found according to teaching experience. More experienced teachers had higher scores in all 6 sub-fields (p<.05). In addition, a significant difference according to gender was observed in subject knowledge and laboratory management (p<.05); male teachers had higher scores than female teachers. Also, the higher the level of experience, the higher the scores for subject knowledge (p<.05). Lastly, the teacher's major did not result in any significant differences.

A Genre-based Classification of Digital Documents by using Deviation Statistic of Genre-revealing Term and Subject-revealing Term (장르와 주제 범주간 용어 편차정보를 이용한 디지털 문서의 장르기반 분류)

  • A genre-based classification means classifying documents by the purpose for which they were written, not by the semantics or subject areas. Most genre classifying methods in the past were based on the existing documents categorization algorithms and ineffective for feature selections, resulting in low quality classification results. In this research, we propose a new method for automatic classification of digital documents by genre. The genre classifier we developed uses the deviation statistic between the genre-revealing term frequencies and between the subject-revealing term frequencies within a genre. We collected Web documents to evaluate the proposed genre classification method. The experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms a direct application of a kai-square feature selection and bayesian classifier often used for subject classification by proving an excellent accuracy of about 30 percent.

Investigating an Automatic Method for Summarizing and Presenting a Video Speech Using Acoustic Features (음향학적 자질을 활용한 비디오 스피치 요약의 자동 추출과 표현에 관한 연구)

  • Two fundamental aspects of speech summary generation are the extraction of key speech content and the style of presentation of the extracted speech synopses. We first investigated whether acoustic features (speaking rate, pitch pattern, and intensity) are equally important and, if not, which one can be effectively modeled to compute the significance of segments for lecture summarization. As a result, we found that the intensity (that is, difference between max DB and min DB) is the most efficient factor for speech summarization. We evaluated the intensity-based method of using the difference between max-DB and min-DB by comparing it to the keyword-based method in terms of which method produces better speech summaries and of how similar weight values assigned to segments by two methods are. Then, we investigated the way to present speech summaries to the viewers. As such, for speech summarization, we suggested how to extract key segments from a speech video efficiently using acoustic features and then present the extracted segments to the viewers.

Character Analysis Method based on the Value Type of the Human (인간 가치 유형에 기반한 캐릭터 분석 방법론 제안)

  • This study is to suggest a new method of analyzing personality types of characters in narrative. First, we examined the history of the taxonomy of character types that existed in narrative theories so far. Until now, the classification of character types in narrative theory consisted largely of a formal classification based on roles in narrative, a content classification based on human internal qualities, and a complementary classification in which the two classification criteria are united. The problem with the existing character classification type is difficult to categorize it in spite of the usefulness of the content classification based on human internal qualities. On the other hand, the classification based on the role of the character in the narrative does not help as much as a practical analysis methodology because the classification is formal. In this study, we try to solve this problem by introducing Shalom Schwartz's human value type, and to make human character's value type and human role correlated with each other as a new character analysis methodology. Schwartz's study of value type is a very effective method to grasp the motivation of human behavior, and it seems to be very meaningful in analyzing the directivity of characters.

A Study on the Developing Teaching-Learning Method for Reading Guidance Librarians (독서교육자 자질 함양을 위한 독서관련 교과목 교수-학습법 개발 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop teaching-learning method for reading guidance librarians in Korean Library and Information Science. Even though it was an increase of needs for reading guidance librarians in libraries, reading education courses provided by LIS in Korea lacked. Also, most reading education courses of LIS stressed knowledge-oriented education than the practice of reading program design or reading experience. So this study developed the teaching-learning method of the self-directed learning for the activities of post-reading portfolio, management of reading program for motivation, and the team-projected learning for the design of reading program.

  • 미국 남부 방언은 그 지역의 광대함과 아울러 그 지역에 속하는 언어사용자들의 언어 문화 및 역사적인 다양성에 의해 결코 한 가지 방언으로 취급할 수 없는 것임에도 불구하고 많은 경우에 그렇게 다루어져 왔다. 특히 소위 '남부 방언의 특징적 요소'로서 몇몇 자질들에 대한 연구가 많이 이루어져 왔다. 본 논문의 목적은 텍사스 지역방언에 이러한 남부 방언의 특징적 자질이 어느 정도 유지되고 있는가를 알아보고, 아울러 두 세대간에 언어적 차이가 있는지, 있다면 그 변화의 방향은 어느 쪽으로 전개되어가고 있는지를 밝히려는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 토박이 텍사스 인에 한하여 한 가정에서 두 세대(늙은 세대와 젊은 세대)를 대표하는 정보제공자 두 명씩을 각각 추출하여 네 가정 모두 여덟 명에게서 얻은 언어자료를 녹음하여 이를 분석, 정리하였다. 텍사스 지역방언에 대해 밝혀진 주요 내용은 다음과 같다. 1. /l/앞에 나오는 단순모음 /i/는 [$r{\partial}$] 또는 [$r{\partial}$]로 이중모음화된다. 2. 강세음절에서 비음 앞에 나오는 /e/와 /I/는 중화된다. 3. 늙은 세대에서는 /a/와 /${\supset}$/가 융합되어 쓰이나, 젊은 세대에서는 융합이 일어나지 않는다. 4. 이중모음 /ar/는 /a:/또는 /a/로 단순모음화하는 것으로 보인다. 5. 이중로음 /$a{\mho}$/ /$o{\mho}$/의 앞모음이 전설화한다. 6. [u], [ju] 와 [${\mho}$]는 모두 [${\mho}$]로 된다. 7. [w] 와 [M]는 일관성 없이 교대로 사용되나 [M]는 특히 늙은 세대에서 더 많이 사용된다.

  • 본 연구에서는 한국어와 영어 메일을 대상으로 2단계 스팸 메일 필터링 시스템을 구축하여 성능평가를 수행한다. 2단계 스팸 메일 필터링 시스템은 블랙리스트를 활용하는 1단계와 기계학습을 통한 지능적인 분류를 하는 2단계로 구성된다. 만약 새로 도착한 메일이 블랙리스트의 내용을 포함한다면 이 메일은 스팸 메일로 분류되고 그렇지 않은 메일은 2단계로 넘어가서 스팸 메일 여부를 판단하게 된다. 메일의 본문이 영어로 작성된 영어 스팸 메일을 일반 메일로부터 분류해내기 위해서는 우선 Stemming과 Stopping 기법을 이용하여 본문에서 정형화된 어휘정보들을 추출한다. 추출된 어휘정보들을 대상으로 속성벡터를 구축한 후 SVM 기계 학습을 시켜 SVM 분류기를 생성하여 지능적인 스팸 메일 필터링을 수행한다. 속성벡터를 구축할 때 기준이 되는 자질을 어떻게 선택하느냐에 따라 스팸 메일 필터링 시스템의 성능이 좌우된다. 따라서 SYM 기계 학습을 위한 속성벡터를 구축할 때 기준이 되는 자질을 선택하는 여러 알고리즘들을 적용하여 성능을 비교 분석한다. 그리고 한국어 스팸 메일 필터링 시스템과 비교하여 영어 스팸 메일 필터링 시스템의 전체적인 성능을 비교 분석한다.

  • 정보추출 시스템의 목적은 관심의 대상이 되는 특정 정보를 선택적으로 찾아내 제시하는데 있다. 따라서 도메인 정보에 의존적인 방법으로 정보추출이 이루어질 수밖에 없고, 이에 따른 도메인 정보 구축의 부담이 컸다. 이러한 부담을 줄이기 위해 본 연구에서는 특정 주제영역과 관련한 문서로부터 자동으로 이벤트 문장을 추출하는 시스템을 제안한다. 이벤트 문장이란, 특정도메인에서 다루어지는 이벤트의 구체적인 내용을 포함하고 있는 문장이다. 이러한 문장을 추출함으로써 기본적인 수준의 정보추출 요구를 만족시킬 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 주출된 이벤트 문장을 도메인 정보 구축에 활용할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구에서는 동사, 명사, 명사구, 및 3W 자질을 이용하여 문장추출의 성능을 최대화하기 위한 방안을 제안하고, 세 개의 평가 도메인을 대상으로 실험을 수행하였다. 실험 결과, when 및 where 자질과 동사, 명사. 명사구의 가중치를 이용하여 문장 가중치를 계산함으로써 최적의 이벤트 문장추출 성능을 얻을 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • As the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, each university and the Korean government has opened a variety of convergence curriculum to foster human resources capable of actively adapting to the paradigm shift and raising creative capacity. It is necessary to analyze the factors affecting the satisfaction of the new curriculum and to continuously improve the curriculum. The purpose of this study is to analyze the differences of factors affecting student's satisfaction about convergence curriculum composed of three sub - processes with different contents of business according to the necessity. The measuring instrument was a factor analysis using the SERVQUAL - based satisfaction survey tool. The field of regional studies has developed various programs. In the process of human fusion and human intensification, the qualities and trust of teachers are important.
