  • It is widely recognized that human beings have moral responsibility for their actions because they have free will to choose and control their acts. Unlike natural phenomena, however, human acts cannot be interpreted with simple, visible ones. Human acts are quite different from natural phenomena because they come about through a number of complicated, invisible phases taking place in our mind. In addition, human actions are under the influence of internal and external factors. Those various internal and external factors are divided into four sectors as follows; (1) the factors that can fall under control of our free will, (2) the factors in the interim phase that could come under our control, (3) the factors that are partially determined that we cannot choose or control over, and (4) the factors that completely determined, and can't be chosen or controlled. we have to pay attention to the fact that we can choose or control the internal and external factors that influence human action. However, there are still factors that are impossible to choose or control with our will. So it is highly unreasonable to hold accountable for actors by means of the factors that can't be chosen or controlled. Hence, the society should be also accountable for the acts of actors influenced by heredity and environment. For this, Politics should affect the external, undesirable, and uncontrollable factors beyond actors power. Education has to exert its influence over the internal and genetic factors by instilling sound values in human mind, too. It is because happy and desirable future will be possible by giving equal opportunities to us including the youth.

  • This study explores high school gifted students' perception of cheating in school using the concept mapping method. The map shows the gifted students' concept structure and the different perception between gifted and non-gifted students on cheating. For the purpose, 63 high school gifted students participated at the brainstorming stage to gather the possible related statements. Finally, 64 statements were confirmed and these were divided and evaluated by 13 focus group students. Then, they were analyzed by multidimensional scaling and processed by hierarchical cluster analysis. The results compiled from this procedure show that high school gifted students' perception of cheating is classified into five clusters: "unacceptable cheating behaviors of friends", "an inseparable relation among social structure, giftedness and cheating", "conflict, coping skills, and tolerance related to the cheating", "immorality in one's inner person" and "the judgement based on morality and social justice". In addition, 150 gifted students and 160 non-gifted students checked the degree of agreement to each statement with the likert 6 points scale and the result showed that there was no significant difference in two clusters, "unacceptable cheating behaviors of friends" and "the judgement based on morality and justice", while it turned out that there were significant perception gaps in three clusters, "inseparable relation among social structure, giftedness and cheating", "conflict, coping skills, and tolerance related to the cheating" and "immorality in one's inner person". Implications of the study related to the gifted students' moral behaviors were discussed in depth.

A total of 268 employees in the franchise food service industry, such as fast food, chicken, and coffee in Seoul, were analyzed by frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation model analysis using the SPSS Program. The results of verifying the research hypotheses could be summarized as follows. First, the surface emotional labor of franchise food service industry employees had negative effects on the organizational commitment. Deep emotional labor had significant positive effects on the organizational commitment, and fellow and director support had significant positive effects on the organizational commitment. Second, the social support from the fellow and director had partially mediating effects on the relationship between emotional labor and organizational commitment. This suggests that emotional labor and social support play essential roles in enhancing the organizational commitment of franchise food service industry employees.

In addition, employees' burnout had a significantly negative effect on their job satisfaction(${\beta}$=-.267; t=-5.261; p<.001). For the moderating effects of employees' emotional labor on the relationship between emotional dissonance and job satisfaction, the results indicated that significant relationships varied to employees' surface acting whereas deep acting did not. Limitations and future research directions are also discussed.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze differences in emotional labor strategies, burnout, and work engagement according to general characteristics of school foodservice employees as well as verify differential effects of two emotional labor strategies on burnout and work engagement. Our survey was administered to 400 school foodservice employees in Gyeongbuk from March 3 to April 25, 2014. A total of 358 completed questionnaires were returned, and 350 questionnaires were used for final analysis. For verification of mean differences, the mean scores for surface acting, deep acting, burnout, and work engagement were shown to be 2.38/5.00, 3.46, 2.67, and 3.41, respectively. The mean surface acting was significantly different according to cooking certification (P<0.001), turnover number (P<0.001), salary (P<0.001), and school level (P<0.01). The mean deep acting was significantly different according to educational background (P<0.001), cooking certification (P<0.001), employment status (P<0.001), salary (P<0.001), school level (P<0.01), and meal service time (P<0.05). The mean burnout was significantly different according to educational background (P<0.01), cooking certification (P<0.05), employment status (P<0.001), school level (P<0.001), and meal service time (P<0.001). The mean work engagement was significantly different according to cooking certification (P<0.001), employment satus (P<0.001), salary (P<0.001), school level (P<0.01), and meal service time (P<0.05). Verification of causal models found that surface acting and deep acting increased burnout and deep acting, respectively (research model). Additionally, surface acting did not influence work engagement, and deep acting did not influence burnout (alternative models). In other words, we identified that emotional labor strategies have differential influences on burnout and work engagement. Finally, implications and limitations of this study are discussed.
