The authors studied obsession, using Derogatis'SCL-90, and lie tendency using MMPI, in the subjects of 2586 male and 1206 female college freshmen of Yeungnam University. The authors collected the reports of self-rating Obsession scale and Lie scale during the periods from January to February, 1988, and applied ANOVA and t-test on obsession and lie scores in order to compare than between various psychosocial factors, and sexes. The results as follows: 1. There was not significant difference in the mean average of total obsession scores between male and female students: male students scored $10.26{\pm}5.21$, female students scored $10.54{\pm}5.01$. 2. High scored items were doubting, indecisiveness, inattention, obsessive thoughts and preoccupation with accuracy. 3. 37 male students(1.4%) showed high obsession scores of 25 or higher, while 9 female students(0.7%) showed thd same scores. 4. There was strong tendency toward higher obsession scores in the students who were dissatisfied with their home atmosphere, college, department and familiarity of parents and those who had pessimistic view of self in the past, present or future in both group(respectively P<0.001). The male students who attended the department of fine arts, who grew at the Up & whose educational fees were paid by brothers & sisters showed higher level of obsession scores(respectively P<0.05, P<0.05, P<0.01). The female students who grew at the Myun & who were self-cook showed higher level of obsession scores(respectively P<0.05). 5. There was not significant difference in the mean averages of total lie scores between male and female students: male students scored $4.73{\pm}2.49$, female students scored $4.70{\pm}2.16$. 6. High scored items were NO. 14, 8, 11, 9 and 1 in the table 6. 7. 98 male students(3.7%) showed high lie scores of 70 or high, while 27 female students(2.2%) showed the same scores. 8. There was strong tendency toward higher lie scores in the students who were satisfied with their home atmosphere, college, department and familiarity of parents and those who had optimistic view of self in the past, present or future in both group(respectively P<0.001). The students who attended the department of pharmacy, music, evening programs showed higher level of lie scores(P<0.05).
This study was conducted to estimate the prevalence of constipation, bowel habits and nutrient intakes of college students. The subjects were 353 college students (166 males and 187 females) aged 19 to 29 years in Incheon area. The subjects were asked about bowel habits and dietary intake using questionnaires during march, 2008 and the prevalence of functional constipation (FC) was based on the Rome II criteria. The prevalence of FC in male and female students was 12.7% and 28.9%, respectively. The prevalence of self-reported constipation in male and female students was 12.0% and 36.9%, respectively. Both were higher in female students compared to male students. Among the subjects that have self-reported constipation, proportions of FC were 35.0% in male students and 55.1% in female students. Of subjects that did not self-reported constipation, the proportions of FC were 9.6% in male students and 13.6% in female students. Over 90% of respondents that self-reported constipation in male students, had neither visited a hospital and nor used laxatives or functional foods for constipation relief. Seventy five point three percent of male students, and 40.1% of female students, had a defecation frequency of over 5 times per week (p < 0.001). Ratios intaken under the estimated average requirement (EAR) of Vit A, Vit C, folic acid and Ca were over the 50% regardless of functional constipation. Mean daily consumption of total dietary fiber was 15.0 g/day in male students and 13.5 g/day in female students. According to these results, both functional constipation and self-reported constipation are more frequent in female college students and further studies are required in case-control study and related to psychological factors as well as nutrients to relieve of constipation.

Technological advancements such as artificial intelligence, robots, and big data are revolutionizing the entire society. In this paper, we analyzed preliminary teachers' daily internet/gaming/smartphone habit and the difference between preference factors in gender and diagnosis group in the situation of ethical dilemma in driverless cars. The result shows most of the male students are in high risk group of daily internet/gaming usage, and male students tend to be more immersed in games compared to female students, which negatively affects their daily lives. Students who have at least one of the daily internet/gaming/smartphone habits are more likely to be classified as high-risk group in all three of daily internet/gaming/smartphone habit. Fortunately, the students perceived themselves addicted and wanted change their habits. An analysis by a moral machine of these students tells that there is no significant difference in preference between male and female students and among diagnosis groups. However, specifically in the ethical dilemma of driverless cars, all the groups of male, female, normal, high-risk showed they have priority in pedestrians over drivers, a large number of people over small, and people who obey traffic rules over who do not. The tendency was pronounced in female group and high-risk students prioritized people who are older and in lower social status.
The Purpose of this study was to clarity morphological differences among mandibular dental arch forms in Korean malocclusion patients. The sample in this study consisted of 114 Class I. 119 Class II, and 135 Class III malocclusion cases. The most facial portions of 13 proximal contact areas were digitized from photocopied images of the mandibular dental arches. Clinical bracket points were calculated for each tooth based on the data on the mandibular tooth thickness. Four linear and two proportional measurements were undertaken The dental arches were classified into square. ovoid, and tapered forms to compare the frequency distributions. Our results suggested that there was no single arch form specific to any particular Angle classification or sex. It appeared to be the frequency of a particular arch form that varies among the Angle classifications. In comparison of arch measurements between male and female. there was no statistical difference except in the intermolar width. In comparison of arch size measurements among the different Angle classifications, there were statistically significant differences between Class I and Class III malocclusion groups and between Class II and Class III malocclusion groups. In comparison oi frequency distribution of arch forms in Class I and III malocclusion groups, the square form demonstrated the highest distribution followed by the ovoid and tapered forms in that order. In the Class II malocclusion group, the square form showed the highest distribution. followed by the tapered and ovoid forms in that order There was no statistical difference in the frequency distribution of arch forms between male and female groups.

The authors studied psychotic ism, using Derogatis's SCL-90, in the subjects of 3,499 male and 1,335 female college freshmen of Yeungnam University. The authors collected the reports of Self-Rating Psychoticism Scale during the periods from January to February, 1986, and applied ANOVA and t-test on psychoticism scores in order to compare them between various psychosocial factors, and sexes. The results are as follows : There was significant difference in the mean averages of total psychoticism socres between male and female students: male students scored 4.62+4.01, female students scored 5.03+3.89(P<0.01). Thirteen male students(0.4%) showed high psychoticism scores of 20 or higher, while seven female students(0.5%) showed the same scores. The male students who have maturated in city and the female students whose educational fees were paid by self, showed higher level of psychoticisrn scores(P<0.05). The male and female students who believed protestantism showed higher level of psychoticism scores(respectively P<0.05, P<0.01). There was a strong tendency toward higher psychoticisrn scores in the students who were dissatisfies with their home atmosphere, college, department and familiarity of parents and those who had pessimistic views of self in the past, present or future in both groups(P<0.001).
Purpose: In order to find suitable size of soft contact lens for different ages group of elementary student to adults, visible iris diameter(horizontal, vertical) and palpebral aperture size were measured. Methods: Visible iris diameter (horizontal, vertical) and palpebral aperture size were measured in different age groups of total 514 subjects (1028 eyes) who have no eye disease and none history of surgery included cosmetic purpose. Results: No significant difference was found in iris diameter of both horizontal and vertical direction for different groups of age and sex but horizontal direction of palpebral aperture size in middle school students and university students groups and vertical direction of palpebral aperture size in high school student group shows significant difference (p<0.05) by sex. Horizontal visible iris diameter, vertical visible iris diameter, horizontal palpebral aperture size and vertical palpebral aperture size shows significant difference in difference age and sex. Conclusions: Visible iris diameter and palpebral aperture size are affective factor for soft contact lens diameter decision, especially it should considered more intensive for removing uncomfortable feeling of lens wearer.
It is well known that Korea is one of the endemic area for type B viral hepatitis. A screening test for HBsAg by RPHA method was performed to evaluate the prevalence of HBsAg among urban, rural and coastal area population during the period between Jan. 1985 and Aug. 1985. The results obtained are as follows; 1) The HBsAg was detected in 242 among 2,849 with positive rate of 8.49%. The positive rate by sex showed higher rate in males(9.07%) than females(6.79%) for HBsAg. But these differences by sen were not statistically significant. 2) By living area, the positivity of HBsAg was 8.67% in urban, 7.43% in rural and 8.37% in coastal area. But the differences were not statistically significant. 3) The positivity differences of HBsAg were significantly observed between male(9.26%) and female(6.44%) in urban area. But there was not in rural and coastal area. 4) The positivity was the highest in 4th decade in urban area. But 6th decade in rural and 4th and 5th decade in coastal area. Generally the positivity of HBsAg was more prevalent in young age and decreasing by the age increasing in the male. But in the female it was most common in 6th decade. 5) Elevated SGOT(>40 Unit) was significantly higher in HBsAg positive group(13.6%) than in HBsAg negative group(3.4%).
Objectives: Narcolepsy is characterized by excessive sleepiness, cataplexy, sleep paralysis and hypnagogic hallucination. As there have been few researches on narcolepsy symptomatology in adolescents, we examined gender differences and prevalence of narcolepsy tetrad among students attending high school. Methods: Total 20,407 subjects, ages 14-19 years filled out Ullanlinna Narcolepsy Scale (UNS). Subjects whose UNS scores were equal to or more than 14 were interviewed by telephone using semi-structured questionnaire. Variables included questions to evaluate tetrad of narcolepsy. Results: UNS scores were higher in female than male ($11.1{\pm}5.2$ vs. $9.6{\pm}4.5$, p<0.001). Subjects scoring the UNS equal to or more than 14 were 4,535 (22.2% of all the participants), more frequently observed in female than in male (p<0.001). Excessive daytime sleepiness, cataplexy-like symptoms, sleep paralysis and hypnagogic hallucination in subjects of UNS ${\geq}14$ were significantly higher in female subjects than male ones. However, no significant gender difference was observed in the frequencies of severe sleep attack and cataplexy-like symptoms. Sleep paralysis was most frequently reported during sleep. There was significant correlation between sleep paralysis and hypnagogic hallucination (r=0.235, p<0.01). Conclusions: Our findings were that female adolescents complained more frequently narcolepsy symptoms than male subjects. Female adolescents might be more sensitive than male ones to physical complaints such as sleepiness or muscle weakness.
The purpose of this study was to clarify morphologic characteristics between mandibular clinical arch forms in Koreans with normal occlusions. The study included data from 102 Koreans. The most facial portion of 13 proximal contact areas was digitized from photocopied images of the mandibular dental arches. Clinical bracket points were calculated for each tooth based on mandibular tooth thickness data. Four linear and two proportional measurements were taken. The dental arches were classified into ovoid, square and tapered forms. The frequency distributions of the three mandibular arch form classifications were determined and compared between male and female subjects. No significant differences in arch form size were found between the sexes. However, there were a few differences in molar width. It was useful to classify mandibular clinical arch forms present in normal occlusion samples into ovoid, square and tapered categories. The frequency of the ovoid form was the highest, and that of the square form was the second highest. The tapered arch form was found in less than 10 percent of subjects. No significant differences in their frequency distributions and dimensions were shown between males and females.

The purpose of this study was to clarify the palatal arch length, width and volume in the primary and permanent dentition. Samples were consisted of normal occlusion in the primary dentition(50 males and 50 females) and permanent dentition(43 males and 43 females). Their upper plaster casts were used and through 3-dimensional laser scanning(3D Scanner, DS4060, LDI, U.S.A.), cloud data, polygonization, section curve, loft surface and fit and horizontal plane were made for measuring the palatal arch length, width and volume(Surfacer 10.0, Imageware, U.S.A.). Correlation coefficients were calculated separately for males and females in each group(SPSS 10.0). The results were as follows : 1. Average distance from the fit plane to the points(tooth-tooth-palate) was greater in the permanent dentition than those of primary dentition. 2. Palatal volume was greater more than 3 times in the permanent dentition, especially it was greater in male compared to female with significance(p<0.05). 3. Palatal width of male was greater in the primary and permanent dentition but palatal length, only in the permanent dentition than that of female(P<0.05). 4. Correlation coefficients were statistically most significant between the palatal volume and size of posterior palatal width and total palatal length(r=0.401, r=0.450, r=0.678, r=0.654).
