This study aimed to gauge the public awareness of the cultural value and superiority of Korean traditional sweets. Furthermore, it evaluated the obstacles that the Korean traditional sweet industry faces in the modern society, and a method to popularize it. It also analyzed the awareness of Korean traditional sweets. Both male and female study subjects showed the highest awareness of yakgwa and the lowest of chasugwa. Female respondents showed significantly (p<0.05~p<0.001) higher awareness of Osaekdasik, Hukimjadasik, Bellflower-junggwa, and Genseng-junggwa than male respondents. Maejakgwa, Osaekdasik, Rice-dasik, and Hukimjada- sik showed significant difference in awareness by the area survey respondents originated. Contrarily, Walnut-gangjung had significantly (p<0.001) higher awareness in rural areas than in more urban areas (e.g., large cities and small and medium-sized cities). Both male and female respondents answered (OR indicated) that the obstacles facing the Korean traditional sweet industry are uncommon products and expensive price. Both male and female respondents said that they had Korean traditional sweets less because it was harder to purchase than western sweets (due to limited access to these sweets), less delicious, and too expensive. Both male and female respondenst suggested that the urgent tasks to popularize the Korean traditional sweets were diversification in shape and ingredient, developing various new flavors, and cheaper products. Both male and female respondents responded that product diversification and strengthened marketing were urgent tasks to industrialize Korean traditional sweets. Therefore, it was believed that failure in generalization was the urgent problem of the Korean traditional sweet industry, and that Korean traditional sweets were harder to purchase because of lower accessibility than western sweets. To popularize Korean traditional sweets, it may be necessary to develop sweets in various shapes and ingredients, flavors suiTable to modern people, become cheaper in price, and have fancier (OR better) packaging.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of science inquiry experiments emphasizing social interaction on the development of process skills of the students. The social interactions by cognitive level of the students were also analyzed. For this study, 197 8th grade students were sampled. They were divided into an experimental group and a control group. During four-month period, the experimental group received science inquiry experiments treatment emphasizing social interactions while the control group received traditional treatment. Not only science inquiry ability pretest-posttest, but also multiple data collection method such as a questionnaire, class observation, and audio/video recording were used in collecting the data. According to the results of this study, it was found that the mean score of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group at 0.05 level. It was also found that the students of high cognitive level led the peers and participated in the class discussion actively with the teacher while the students of low cognitive level followed the students of high cognitive level and showed inactive interaction with the teacher. Analysis of the students' perceptions on inquiry experiments showed that students participated in discussion actively in the class as these experiments gave an opportunity for them to discuss and were able to solve the problems with peers' help through discussion.
The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of stress on the habits of temporomandibular disorder in college students. The subjects in this study were 396 male and female students who were in their first to fourth years at five different colleges located in Jeollabuk-do. The findings of the study were as follows: As for the degree of bad oral habits, "sleeping on one side" was the most common bad oral habit, followed by "enjoying caffeinated beverages," "resting the chin on the hand or a thing" and "chewing food in one side of the mouth only." As a result of analyzing their stress by general characteristics including gender, there were significant differences according to gender in stress about school life problems, one's own problems and economic difficulties, and only stress about one's own problems statistically significantly varied with academic year. When the correlation of the factors was analyzed, perceived stress about school life problems and one's own problems had a significant positive correlation with bad oral habit scores. When a multiple linear regression analysis was made to determine the influence of general characteristics and perceived stress on bad oral habit scores, gender, academic year, self-rated oral health status, stress about school life problems and stress about one's own problems were identified as significant variables. The findings of the study illustrated that there was an organic relationship between the bad oral habits and stress of the college students.
The purpose of this study was to investigate effect of the economic stress and state-trait anxiety on the periodontal disease in order to prevent the occurrence and progression of periodontal disease. Date were collected from total of 326 subjects in their forties and fifties by using questionnaire and examination of periodontal states during the period from February to November 2011. Results were analyzed by using frequency, t-test, ANOVA and Multiple regression of SPSS ver. 19.0. 1. The economic stress were significant statistically to the higher, medium and low of gingival index (p<0.01). 2. The state-trait anxiety were significant statistically to the higher, medium and low of gingival index (p<0.001), of the pocket depth (p<0.05), of the clinical attachment loss (p<0.05). 3. The gingival index were investigate effect of the higher the economic stress ($\beta$=0.052, p<0.01), the higher the state-trait anxiety ($\beta$=0.052, p<0.01). As a result, this study suggests that the dental clinic institute needs to let the patients with the periodontal disease know about the effects of economic stress and state-trait anxiety. They also necessarily need to implement education program including stress management, economic stress, and state-trait anxiety improvement in order to prevent periodontal disease and to take charge.

This study evaluated the dietary habits and dietary quality of the Korean elderly according to muscle strength status. This study was conducted on the elderly aged over 65 years who participated in the 2014-2018 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Subjects were classified into the normal muscle strength group(n=2,000) and the low muscle strength group(n=1,273) according to the handgrip strength. There was a significant difference in general characteristics, diet habits, and health behavior according to the muscle strength status. The normal muscle strength group had a higher total score of KHEI and a subtotal score of 「adequacy」 items. But there was not significant difference in the 「moderation」 items. For the 「balance of energy intake」 items, the normal muscle strength group had a higher subtotal score than the low muscle strength group only in among women. The prevalence of low muscle strength decreased in the highest quartile of the adjusted KHEI total score(p for trend=0.08). As a result of this study, it was found that KHEI was significantly associated with muscle strength. This study result can be used to provide dietary guidelines for the improvement of muscle strength in the elderly based on each item of KHEI and sex.
This study is aimed to investigate the effects of stress on suicidal impulse, considering the mediating effects of existent spirituality, family support, and depression. The data, collected from 1,000 adults were examined by the statistics software SPSS 17.0 and AMOS 17.0, in which descriptive statistics, structural equation model analysis, and multi-group simultaneous analysis are utilized. The study shows that, from the structural equation modeling, the stress has positive effects on depression and suicidal impulses, but negative effects on existent spirituality. Existent spirituality acts as a protective factor, negatively affecting the suicidal impulse. Depression has positive effects on suicidal impulse. Therefore, existent spirituality and depression have mediational effects on the relationship between stress and suicidal impulse. The results of multi-group simultaneous analysis imply that there are no age and sex differences. In conclusion, social workers need to make great efforts to exterminate stress, and treat depression at the first priority, because the depression is a major sign of suicide. As a protective factor, strengthening existent spirituality is a very effective way to prevent a suicidal impulse.
Purpose: This study assessed the food intake and nutritional status of the elderly in long-term care facilities in order to provide adequate food services and improve the nutritional status. Methods: The survey was carried out from August 2019 to October 2019 for the elderly in long-term care facilities located in Gwangju Metropolitan City. The survey was conducted to collect data from 199 elderly persons (34 males and 165 females) aged over 65 years old. The food intake was assessed using a 1-day 24-hour recall method. Results: More than 90% of the subjects were over 75 years old. Forty five percent of the subjects were active, 44.2% of the subjects perceived themselves as not being healthy. Dementia and Parkinson's disease were the most common diseases, followed by hypertension, musculo-skeletal disease, diabetes, and stroke. Only 25.6% of the subjects had most of their teeth intact, and 44.7% of the subjects had difficulty in chewing and swallowing. The total food intake was 1,127 g in males and 1,078 g in females. The most frequently consumed foods were kimchi, cooked rice with multi-grains, soybean soup, cooked rice with white rice, yogurt, pumpkin porridge, soy milk, and duck soup. The average energy intake of the subjects was 1,564.9 kcal in males and 1,535.5 kcal in females. The overall nutritional status of the elderly in the long-term care facilities was poor. In particular, the intake of vitamin D and calcium, vitamin C, riboflavin, and potassium were very low. The intake of vitamin D was 5 ㎍, and 86.4% of the elderly were below the estimated average requirement, while the intake of sodium was high. Conclusion: The results of this study can be used to understand the health and nutritional status and to improve the food services and nutrition management for the elderly in longterm care facilities.

This study was carried out to investigate perception about body image, dietary attitude, nutrient intake and dietary self-efficacy of high school students in Pusan. A questionaire survey was distributed among 491 high school students. The survey was conducted from April 8 to April 22 in 2002. The results are summarized as follows. Forty percents of the underweight group, 53.9% of the normal weight group, 61.8% of the overweight group and 48.2% of obesity group have correct perception about their body image. Most of the students were concerned with their body image and weight control. Obesity of parents was significantly correlated with obesity of the subjects (p<0.01). The higher obesity rate, the lower dietary self-efficacy. The higher dietary self-efficacy, the higher dietary attitude. There was a significant positive correlation between the education level of their parents and dietary attitude of the subjects (p<0.01) and a significant negative correlation between obesity rate of their mothers and dietary attitude of the subjects (p<0.01). Dietary attitude scores showed no significant difference among the groups. Intakes of most nutrients, except protein, niacin and vitamin C, were lower than those of the recommended dietary allowances for Koreans. Therefore, proper nutrition education is required to improve their nutritional status and dietary self-efficacy.

The purpose of this study was to compare energy intake according to expected body mass index (BMI) in adolescents. A total of 280 middle school students were divided into current or/and expected obesity groups (underweight group; UWG, normal weight group; NWG, and overweight group; OWG) by BMI to compare energy intake and perception on body shape and weight control. The average age of total subjects was 15 years, and the distributions of boys and girls were 52.5% and 47.5%, respectively. The distribution of boys and girls was not significantly different among current obesity groups but was among expected obesity groups (15% and 82% in UWG vs. 71.4% and 16.5% NWG vs. 13.6% and 1.5% in OWG; P<0.001), indicating that girls wanted to lose weight more than boys. For body shape, most subjects in current obesity groups responded "fitness" in UWG (38.7%), "fitness" and "slightly chubby" in NWG (45.5% and 39%), and "slightly chubby" in OWG (65.2%), showing a significant difference (P<0.001). For interest in weight control, most subjects responded "average" in current UWcinterested" in current OWG (52.2%), whereas they responded "very interested" in expected UWG (55.7%), "average" in expected NWG (51.2%), and "not interested" in expected OWG (45.5%), showing a significant difference (P<0.001). The percentage of subjects with experience with weight control was significantly high in current OWG (71.7%), NWG (51.2%) and UWG (34.2%) as well as in expected UWG (57.3%), NWG (40.2%) and OWG (36.4%) in descending order (P<0.001). The daily energy intake of total subjects was 2,057.1 kcal without any significant difference among current obesity groups. However, it was significantly lower in expected UWG than expected NWG and OWG (1,943.1 kcal vs. 2,165.0 kcal or/and 2,152.1 kcal; P<0.001). To sum up these results, girls wanted to lose weight more than boys. The more students wanted to lose weight, the greater their experience and interest in weight control and the lower their energy intake.
