  • In the present work, LES with new variational multiscale method is conducted on the fully developed channel flow with Reynolds number, 180 based on the friction velocity and the channel half width. Incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are integrated using finite element method with the basis function of NURBS. To solve space-time equations, Newton's method with two stage predictor multicorrector algorithm is employed. The code is parallelized using MPI. The computational domain is a rectangular box of size $2{\pi}{\times}2{\times}4/3{\pi}$ in the streamwise, wall normal and spanwise direction. Mean velocity profiles and velocity fluctuations are compared with the data of DNS. The results agree well with those of DNS and other traditional LES.

비균질 필터를 사용한 난류 채널 유동의 Large Eddy Simulation (Large Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Channel Flow Using Inhomogeneous Filter)

  • The commutation errors by the filtering process in the large eddy simulation are considered. It is compared the conventional filter with the inhomogeneous filter that is devised to reduce the commutation errors. The weighting factor of the inhomogeneous filter suggested by Vasilyev is adopted. Also, using the optimizing function that estimates test filter width to eliminate the dissipations in the region excluding the vicinity of the wall, the flow patterns are analyzed. It is evaluated in simulations of the turbulent channel flow at Reynolds number of 1020, based on friction velocity and channel half height. Results show that the commutation errors can be significantly reduced by using the inhomogeneous filter and the optimized test filter width.

레이놀즈 응력의 난류구배수송을 위한 텐서시간척도 (Tensorial Time Scales for Turbulent Gradient Transport of Reynolds Stresses)

  • On the notion that the Reynolds stresses are transported with different time scale depending on the transport direction, the third order velocity correlations are represented by a new turbulent gradient transport model with tonsorial Lagrangian time scale. In order to verify the proposed model, DNS data are first obtained in a turbulent channel flow at Re = 180 and tonsorial Lagrangian time scales are computed. The present model predictions are compared with DNS data and those predicted by the third-order turbulent transport model of Hanjalic and Launder that uses a scalar time scale. The result demonstrates that the Reynolds stresses are indeed transported with different time scale depending on the transport direction.

  • 채널 내부의 비정상 흐름을 규명하기 위하여 실제 사용 중인 판형 열교환기 모델을 대상으로 가시화 실험과 입자영상유속계(PIV)를 사용한 계측을 수행하였다. 실험은 기복을 가지고 있는 채널의 높이와 내부유동의 부분 평균속도벡터에 따른 7가지 종류의 레이놀즈수를 적용하였고, 순간속도벡터분포와 유동특성을 고찰하였다. 실험에서 삼각형상 그루브 채널은 하부 채널과 채널 흐름에 의해서 받고 있는 전단응력의 그루브 흐름과의 관계에서 복합적인 흐름의 형태로 나타났다. 삼각형상 그루브와 채널 사이의 경계인 전단혼합층은 채널에서 난류강도가 상승하는 주흐름에 영향을 미쳤다.

테이퍼가 설치된 리브(rib)이 있는 채널의 열전달에 대한 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis of Heat Transfer in the Ribbed Channel Inserted with Tape)

  • 사각 덕트내 열전달과 유동 양상을 조사하기 위해 꼬임식 테이프 만 설치한 경우와 꼬임식 테이프와 리브(rib)를 설치한 경우에 대해 충분히 발달된 난류유동에 관한 수치 해석을 행하였다. 수치 해석에서는 레이놀즈 수가 8,900에서 29,000 범위의 난류 스월유동, 채널수력직경에 대한 리브의 높이(e/$D_h$)가 0.067, 그리고 채널 수력 직경에 대한 시험부 길이(L/$D_h$)가 30인 경우에 대해 고려하였다. 리브는 채널 바닥면에 만 길이 방향으로 설치하였다. 꼬임식 테이프는 0.1 mm 두께의 탄소강 판 재질이며, 폭은 28 mm, 길이는 900 mm이고 2.5 번 회전시켰다. 각 벽면은 서로 단열된 알루미늄 판으로 구성되었다. 2가지의 가열 조건에 대해 조사 하였다: (1) 사각 전체 벽 면적에 일정한 열유속으로 가열, 그리고 (2) 사각 채널에서 마주보는 상하 양면 만 가열. 연구 결과 상하 양면 만 가열하는 경우가 4면 모두 가열하는 경우보다 열전달 계수가 우수하였고 꼬임식 테이프와 리브를 설치한 경우 열전달 계수가 현저히 향상되었다.

  • Large Eddy Simulation (LES) has been popularly applied and used in the last several decades to simulate turbulent boundary layer in the numerical domain. A fully developed turbulent boundary layer has also been applied to predict the complicated wake flow behind bluff bodies. In this study we aimed to generate an artificial turbulent boundary layer, which is based on an exponential correlation function, and generates a series of realistic three-dimensional velocity data in two-dimensional inlet section which are correlated both in space and in time. The results suggest its excellent capability for high Reynolds number flows. To make an effective generation, a hexahedral mesh has been used and Cholesky decomposition was applied to possess suitable turbulent statistics such as the randomness and correlation of turbulent flow. As a result, the flow characteristics in the domain and fluctuating pressure near the wall are very close to those of fully developed turbulent boundary layers.

  • Experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of the initial turbulent intensity on the flow and heat transfer characteristics for a two-dimensional impinging jet. A square rod was installed at the nozzle exit to increase initial turbulent intensity. A hot wire probe and thermochromic liquid crystal technique were used to measure the turbulent intensity and the surface temperature. All measurements were made over a range of nozzle-to-plate distance from 1 to 10 at Re=20,000. When the rod is not installed, the maximum stagnation point Nusselt number is occurred at H/B=9. A higher initial turbulent intensity enhanced the heat transfer on the surface. A correlation between stagnation point Nusselt number and turbulent intensity are presented.

Test Filter 너비의 추정을 통한 난류 채널 유동의 Large Eddy Simulation (Large Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Channel Flow Through Estimation of Test Filter Width)

  • The suitable estimation of the filter width in the dynamic eddy viscosity model were investigated in high Reynolds number channel flow. In this study, the improvement on matters by optimizing the test filter shape was attempted through the numerical experiment. The way that select optimum test filter width is recommended. Some test filters, one is based on a discrete representation of the top-hat filter and another are based on a high-order filtering operation, are evaluated in simulations of the turbulent channel flow at Reynolds number 1020, based on friction velocity and channel half width. It appears that the estimation of test filter width practically can decrease the dissipative nature of dynamic eddy viscosity model with explicit test filter. It shows that the value of the filter width ratio used in the dynamic procedure must match the properties of the test filter actually used in the calculation.

열량계 채널에 대한 3차원 열전달 해석

  • 가열벽이 있는 4각단면 채널에서 3차원 열전달이 비선형 k-ε-fμ 모형과 큰에디모사법을 이용하여 해석되었다. 4각단면 채널로 모형화된 열량계 해석에 비선형 k-ε-fμ 모형과 비선형 열유속모형이 도입되었다. 레이놀즈수는 4000≤$Re_b$≤20000로 변화되었다. 난류의 비등방성으로 유도되는 구석와류는 주 유동속도의 1~3% 정도로 크지 않았지만 열전달에 커다란 영향을 주었다. 또한 채널 단면에 존재하는 나선형의 와류에 의해서 열전달이 심하게 변함을 보여 주었다. 예측된 열전달계수로부터 Nu~$Re^{0.8}Pr^{0.34}$가 검토되었고 온도의 섭동과 와유동의 비정상거동이 조사되었다.
