  • To clarify characteristics of yolk protein of abalone, yolk protein was purified from the ovarian egg extracts of mature female Haliotis discus hannai by a gel chromatography of sepharose CL-4B. From the results of immuno-electrophoresis and Ouchterlony's diffusion test to male and female sera and ovarian egg extracts using antibodies raised against mature female and male sera and male sera and ovarian egg extrascts, it was identified that the mature female serum had female specific serum protein and its antigenecity shared with ovarian egg extracts. A single type of yolk protein was purified from ovarian egg extracts, and it was composed of two subunits. Their molecular weights were estimated to be approximately 166 KDa and 113 KDa by SDSPAGE. The antiserum against yolk proteins cross-reacted with a mature female specific serum protein and extracts of hepatopancreas of vitellogeing females, but did not reacted with extracts of hepatopancreas of mature male.

  • Spawning behaviors of Squalidus gracilis majimae (Cyprinidae) were observed in the laboratory whose environmental factors such as light (D/L = 16 : 8), temperature ($20\;{\sim}\;24\;^{\circ}C$), and dissolved oxygen (>8 mg $L^{-1}$) were quite regularly controlled. The behavioral patterns were categorized into three stages ofpre-spawning, spawning, and Post-spawning behaviors. In Particular, the pre-spawning stage was specified by 11 specific behavioral patterns of aggressive mating behaviors. During the spawning stage, the male and female performed four distinct spawning behaviors including sexual temptation, stimulation, egg spawning, and the separation, and randomly laid about 200 ${\sim}$ 300 eggs on the bottom substrates through the night. After finishing spawning, two adults separated toward their refuges and showed 3 types of post-spawning behaviors such as the resting, occasional eggs protecting, and the egg eating. The fish was identified as a partial-parental care species after the spawning.

  • To study the distribution of ichthyoplankton in Asan Bay, samples were collected with a Bongo net at 8 stations from April, July and October of 1991, and January of 1992. The dominant fish eggs included the eggs of Nibea spp., Engraulis japonica, Callionymus spp., and others. The eggs of Nibea spp. and Engraulis japonica were $97.70\%$ and $1.30\%$ of the total egg abundance, respectively. Twenty three species of fish larvae were identified. The predominant species were gobiid fishes accounting for $32.84\%$ of the all fish larvae, and followed by Ammodytes personatus($16.69\%$). Other major species were Anguilla japonica, Nibea spp., Pampus echinogaster and Engrualis japonica. These 6 taxa constituted $90.40\%$ of the total larvae collected.

  • Life cycle of the mirid predator, Cyrtorhinus lividipennis, was observed on the constant temper¬ature. Egg periods were 14.43, 9.33 and 6.94 days at $20^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$, respectively. Nymph periods were 24.3, 14.42, and 11.90 days at $20^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$, respectively and fe¬male longevity was 11.20, 11.93 and 11.87 days at above temperatures. Relationships between constant temperature and the developmental velocity of egg, nymph and egg-nymph were lin¬ear over temperatures tested. The calculated threshold temperatures of development were $10.7^{\circ}C$ in egg, $9.8^{\circ}C$ in nymph and $10.2^{\circ}C$ in egg-nymph. Total effective day-degrees were 133.9 in egg, 235.8 in nymph and 368.0 in egg-nymph. Number of eggs laid was 26.0 and 22.4 at $24^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$, respectively.

  • In order to understand the condition of mostly-degraded evergreen broad-leaved forests(EBLF) and to make a restoration plan of EBLF in the Korean warm temperate, the distribution of EBLF and forest vegetation types have been investigated and the categories of degraded levels have been set. The coverage of the EBLF in the Korean peninsula was approximately 10,285ha based on the existing literature review and the actual vegetation map. Forest vegetation types have been investigated at thirty-two area of the south coast and inland in the warm temperate region. As a result, The forest vegetation was classified as 52 types; 26 types of EBLF, 13 types of semi-evergreen broad-leaved forests, 9 types of deciduous broad-leaved forests, 4 types of evergreen coniferous forests. The categories of degraded levels were divided into 8 levels and 14 sub-levels according to the importance percentage(I.P.) and the number of warm temperate species.

  • Orchid mycorrhizal fungi(OMF) were examined in roots of the two threatened orchid species, Cypripedium japonicum and C. macranthum. The morphological characteristics of mycorrhizal colonization in the roots of two orchid species were observed. OMF colonized in the roots of two species were identified using molecular analysis. DNA from the root was extracted and amplified internal transcribed spacer(ITS) region using basidiomycete ITS primers, ITS1-OF and ITS4-OF. Four species belonging to Tulasnellaceae in roots of C. japonicum and two species of Tulasnellaceae and one basidiomycetous species was found in roots of C. macranthum.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the trend of men's gymnastics on floor exercise final(8 gymnasts) in the 2018 Asian Games through digital video materials. Video recordings of floor exercise final were collected from the 2018 Asian Games. The cross-check with three international gymnastics judges on floor exercise final was analyzed. To fulfil the D-score, 8 gymnasts were the most performed backward saltos elements group(36 elements), forward salto with 1/1 turn(8 gymnasts), backward salto with 5/2 turn(8 gymnasts) and backward salto with 3/1 turn(8 gymnasts). The scores showd average the D score 6.0, E score 7.9, and connection values 0.25. To get a good results on floor exercise, gymnasts need to get a average the D score over 6.0, E score over 8.5, and connection values over 0.3.

  • Platanthera brevicalcarata Hayata (Orchidaceae), previously known to be distributed from Taiwan to southern Japan, was found in the Jeju-do, Korea. This species is distinguished from the related taxon Platanthera chlorantha by its small plant size, white sepal with distinct one green vein, and short-cylindrical spur. The local name Young-ju-je-bi-ran is originated from the local name of Mt. Halla. The morphological characters and illustration of the species are provided with line drawing and photograph from the natural habitat.

  • Ichthyoplankton were sampled with Bongo net at 13 stations from Chonsu Bay to Keum Estuary from July, 1985 to June, 1986. 19 taxa of pelagic eggs and 45 taxa of larvae were collected. The key to identify the pelagic eggs is based on the number of oil gloubles, the shape of the egg, the sculpture of the chorion, and the size of the egg and the oil globules. The key to the families of fish larvae is based on the morphometric characters such as the body shape, the position of the anus, the pigmentation pattern, and others.

  • he observation of the egg microstrutures on the five Korean mosquito species showed some useful results to identify the species. There have appeared five classified groups with characters of egg structured on 20 Aedes species and 3 Culex specie니 in the cluster analysis. Among the 23 species, A desmotes and A. mediopunctatus perplexus were completely separated form other Aedes species.
