日韓共同統計學會議는 韓國側은 李載昌 高麗大學 敎授, 日本側은 脇本和昌(Wakimoto Kazumasa) 岡山大學 敎授의 協力에 의해서 1982年 7月에 日本國 岡山市에서 열렸다. 이 企劃은 그 後에도 持續 되어서 今日에 이르기까지 8年間에 걸친 韓日兩國의 統計學의 交流의 原流로 될 것을 當時의 나는 確信을 가지고 豫見할 수가 없었다. 나는 이 企劃의 中樞에는 들어있지 않았으나, 이 交流를 結實키고 싶어서 過去 6回의 會議에 빠짐없이 參加해 왔다. 第 6回 會議가 지난해 7月에 열린 機會에, 이때까지의 經過를 되돌아 보고자 한다.

Magnetite, a major constituent mineral of the Hongcheon carbonatite-phoscorite complex, was produced over three stages in each rock type and decreased in quantity toward the late stage. Electron microprobe analyses for magnetite revealed that Ti and V were detected in traces, but showed increasing tendency from early to late stage. On the contrary, Mg and Mn decreased distinctly, and it is the general differentiation trend of carbonatitic magma. Al also showed decreasing tendency in carbonatite and phoscorite, and Cr was mostly below detection limit except late phoscorite. In early stage, $Fe^{2+}$ was largely replaced by $Mg{2+}$ and $Mn^{2+}$, and $Fe^{3+}$ by $Al^{3+}$ in magnetite, but it has nearly pure composition in late stage. Tendency of increase in V and decrease in Mn toward late stage represents that magma differentiation progressed under the condition of decreasing oxygen fugacity. Low concentrations of Mg, Al, Cr and Ti, as well as the absence of olivine and phlogopite, suggest that the Hongcheon carbonatite-phoscorite complex was generated from depleted magma. Especially, lower concentrations of Mg in magnetite compared to other typical carbonatite-phoscorite complex, and abundant occurrence of Fe-carbonate minerals and quartz in late stage, suggest that magma differentiation of the Hongcheon carbonatite-phoscorite proceeded to the latest stage.

The ecological studies were conducted to identify some bark-beetles on apricot and plum trees in Jeonnam province. Harmful bark-beetles caught from apricot and plum trees were identified as Scolytus seulensis. Xyleborus atratus., X. germanus, X. rubricollis and X. saxeseni. The seoul barkbeetle emerged during the period from early May to late October $1980\~1981$, it happens twice in a year, with the peak July 10 and August 25 in 1950, July 15 and August 20 in 1981. A daily peak emerged for adults was at 11 AM to 1 PM. Distribution of holes on the apricot stems varied; more than 100 holes per meter in Henderson (Apricot) and Y-49057 (Apricot), 12 holes per meter in Derbyroyal (Apricot). Comparatively more holes were found in the European variety, and the cardinal distribution was in the order of east, south, west and north. The longer the longth of the mother-gallery, the greater number of egg-gallery found. Optimum temperature for mating was $27^{\circ}C$. The time for mating was longer during May-June than July-August. The fruit weight of damaged plum tree reached 12.25g around four weeks after flowering; where as that of normal tree increased up to 63.5g at harvest time. The natural enemy of the seoul bark beetle was Eurytoma sp. They were found as mature larva or pupa and they emerged from early May to the middle of June. Adult longevity was about a week.

In this paper, I tackle the question as to why the Confucian tradition in East Asia failed to generate democracy. In the first section, I discuss various forms of Confucianism and come up with a most suitable one before I define democracy. I then consider the view that, even though Confucianism, thus defined, had the democratic ideals, it could not generate democracy because it failed to secure democratic institutional structure. I call this view 'No Institutions' View. However, there are two versions of it. First, a thin version of the view holds that the theoretical resources are clearly found in Confucianism yet they failed to provide the democratic institutions. Second, there is the view (a thick version of 'No Institutions' View), according to which the theoretical resources do exist in the Confucian tradition, though only as potentiality and not as a historical reality, and this is why the tradition failed to produce democracy. Third, some hold the view (which I call 'No Ideals' View) that Confucianism simply lacks not only the practical institutions but also theoretical ideals of democracy. In the conclusion, I discuss the reason why I reject these views and offer my own view. In particular, I offer a hybrid view concerning the relationship between Confucianism and democracy.

The present study analyzes the content of "Suojaegi (The Account of the Suo Residence)," an essay written by the Joseon-dynasty scholar Jeong Yak-yong (丁若鏞, 1762-1836). The study identifies the work's characteristic features and significance, seeking to develop a methodology to use this essay to teach students how to write. In terms of its content, the author of "Suojaegi" asserts what it means to "protect one's self-integrity" as the word "Suo" means in the title of the residence where the author's brother Jeong Yak-hyeon(丁若鉉) lived. According to the author, his elder brother could keep on living in his house, without being sent to exile in the political turmoils, because he preserved his sense of self and adhered to his principles. The originality of the essay is attributed to the use of gi (記), a genre of writing in classical Chinese that can be translated as "record," or "account," to express his thoughts in a place of exile in the form of a dialogue with his own self. Lastly, this self-reflective essay can be served as a guide for teaching students to make their own pen names, and to write a letter of self-introduction.

The Korean distribution market is now faced with various difficult problems. for instance, the withering of domestic demand by effect of IMF support system, the competitive foreign enterprise's entry into domestic distribution market by opening of its market, and the diversity and unexpected change of consumers' needs. Through the comparative study with Japanese distribution industry, we could find out the outline of information strategy that Korean wholesalers and retailers can solve such problems and stand at competitive advantage in Korean distribution market. We use information system in order to get data for consumers' needs quick and diversely. analyze those accurately, and put those into merchandising. So we have to work out the information strategy in line with the three-point principle, such as the integration or linking of information systems, the sustaining improvement and development of information systems, and the sharing of information.

미국의 증권시장에서는 EVA가 주요한 주자지표로 주목을 받고 있다. 그동안 주요 투자지표로 사용되던 EPS, ROA, ROE, PER 등의 회계적 이익지표들에 비해 EVA의 활용도가 점차 높아지고 있다. 우리 나라에서도 투자지표로서, 경영관리지표로서의 활용 가능성에 대해 관심이 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 우리 나라 주식시장에서 EVA가 유용한 투자지표로 활용될 수 있는가를 살펴보고자 하였다. 1991년부터 1995년의 분석기간에 걸쳐 첫째, 주당EVA가 회계적 이익지표보다 주식수익률을 더 잘 설명하는가, 둘째, 주당EVA가 높은 기업이 더 높은 초과수익률을 실현하는가, 셋째, 주당EVA는 개별 종목 초과수익률의 선행지표로 활용될 수 있는가를 EPS, ROA, ROE, PER 등의 회계적 이익지표와 비교하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 우리 나라 주식시장에서 주식수익률은 주당EVA보다 회계적 이익지표인 EPS, ROA, ROE가 더 잘 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, EPS, ROA, ROE를 기준으로 포트폴리오를 구성하는 경우 유의적인 초과수익률을 획득할 수 있는 것으로 나타난다. 주방EVA를 기준으로 포트폴리오를 구성하는 경우에는 3월 이후에 포트폴리오간 유의적인 초과수익률 차이가 발생하여 초과수익률 획득이 가능한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 주당EVA, EPS, ROA 등은 초과수익률에 대해 동행적 투자지표로 유용하고, ROE는 동행적 지표와 선행적 지표로 모두 유용하고, PER는 선행지표로 유용한 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 분석결과는 우리 나라 주식시장에서 EVA는 회계적 이익지표인 EPS, ROA, ROE, PER보다 더 우월한 투자지표라고 말하기는 어렵지만, 회계적 이익지표와 보완적으로 활용하는 경우에는 유용한 투자지표로 활용될 수 있음을 나타내고 있다.

Microscale wind fields were simulated by MUKLIMO at the Naro Space Center, where complicated mountainous terrain and trees exist. In order to test the model's sensitivity with the effects of terrain and trees, experimental simulations were conducted under the various initial conditions. The experiments showed that the effects of trees were more significant on flat surfaces than on mountain cliffs. Based on the results, an actual 10 m level microscale wind field was simulated at the Naro Space Center, which has complicated mountainous terrain. Simulations of wind fields before and after the construction of the launching site were also conducted. It was found that MUKLIMO was of the mesoscale wind fields at the Naro Space Center.

In this paper I explore the theory of agent causation proposed by T. O'Connor. According to the theory, we can't explain an agent's control over his intention and action without appealing to 'agent causes events'(shortly, ACEs). But I argue that ACEs can't be a help to an agent's control over his intention and action. For this I show that reason-responsiveness is a necessary condition for an agent's control. In order for ACEs to help in explaining an agent's control, ACEs must be able to satisfy 'reason-responsiveness condition'. But, ACEs fail to satisfy the condition. For this reason, I conclude that ACEs can't be a help to an agent's control over his intention and action.
