Understanding STEM, STEAM Education, and Addressing the Issues Facing STEAM in the Korean Context (STEM, STEAM 교육과 우리나라 융합인재교육의 이해와 해결 과제)

  • Since 2011, after beginning of the systematic study on STEAM education, South Korea has developed a number of related programs. At this point we see that this is the time to clarify the challenges. The purpose of this study is to clarify the characteristics of their education through the review of many domestic and foreign papers in order to propose the challenges of STEAM education of Korea. The results are as follows. First, the course of integration cannot be separated by the difference in superiority but should be separated in accordance with the purpose of integration. Second, curriculum integration such as STEAM education is characterized by the emphasis on horizontal linking than vertical depth fusion. Accordingly, the content knowledge and vertical linkages are inevitably weakened. In order to overcome this problem, the key concepts and features that were emphasized in the previous curriculum need to also be emphasized in STEAM training, and the comparative study on the core concept and function of each subjects should be preceded. Third, after looking upon the current situation of our country's fusion research and talent training, the limits and the challenges that need to be overcome has been suggested. Fourth, with the basis on research results, we offered an example of the approach on STEAM education which is applicable to the current situation and proposed the challenges and implications that need to be addressed in the STEAM education of Korea in educational contexts such as curriculum, teaching and learning, and evaluation.

  • In total body irradiation (T81) for leukemia, we have a two methode. One is a AP (anterior-posterior) method and the other is a Lateral methode. Our hospital used lateral methode. T81 must consider about body contour, because of homogeneous dose distribution. For compensation about irregular body contour, we use compensator. For T81 treatment, we must be considered, accurate manufacture of compensator and accurate calculation of dose. We developed the automatic program for T81. This program accomplished for compensator design and dose calculation for irregular body. This program was developed for uses to use in a windows environment using the IDL language. In this program, it use energy data for each energy: TMR, output factor, inverse square law, spoiler, field size factor. This program reduces the error to happen due to the manual. As a development of program, we could decrease the time of treatment plan and care the patient accurately.

Determination of Key Elements Using FTA/FMEA Safety Techniques for Precedent Research Stage of Defense R&D Programs (국방 선행연구단계에서 안전분석 기법 FTA/FMEA의 활용을 통한 핵심요소의 결정)

  • A precedent defense project study was carried out in the early stage of the project to support efficient determination of the acquisition method of the determined weapons system. A precedent study in the early stage of the project has been neglected, but lack of performance and increased costs are continuing problems. In a precedent study on a number of items within a limited time frame, expected risks during project implementation were not identified and reduced by failing to review the key review element in depth. Therefore, in this paper, we studied the application of the FTA/FMEA technique used in the system safety analysis process to identify key factors to be considered when carrying out the defense research project. The methodology for the development of the key review items was established through the improvement of the FTA/FMEA technique in order to meet specific conditions and given conditions. Based on the results of this study, we redefined core key factors in the precedent study stage, thereby eliminating unnecessary and anticipated risks that may arise in the future project management aspects of the defense project. It is anticipated that this will reduce costs and time in terms of the lifecycle of the weapon system and promote stable operation of the project through reduction of risk.

Comparison of Film Measurements, Convolution$^{}$erposition Model and Monte Carlo Simulations for Small fields in Heterogeneous Phantoms (비균질 팬텀에서 소조사면에 대한 필름측정, 회선/중첩 모델과 몬테 카를로 모사의 비교 연구)

  • Intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) often uses small beam segments. The heterogeneity effect is well known for relatively large field sizes used in the conventional radiation treatments. However, this effect is not known in small fields such as the beamlets used in IMRT. There are many factors that can cause errors in the small field i.e. electronic disequilibrium and multiple electron scattering. This study prepared geometrically regular heterogeneous phantoms, and compared the measurements with the calculations using the Convolution/Superposition algorithm and Monte Carlo method for small beams. This study used the BEAM00/EGS4 code to simulate the head of a Varian 2300C/D. The commissioning of a 6MV photon beam were performed from two points of view, the beam profiles and depth doses. The calculated voxel size was 1${\times}$1${\times}$2$\textrm{cm}^2$ with field sizes of 1${\times}$1$\textrm{cm}^2$, 2${\times}$2$\textrm{cm}^2$, and 5${\times}$5$\textrm{cm}^2$. The XiOTM TPS (Treatment Planning System) was used for the calculation using the Convolution/Superposition algorithm. The 6MV photon beam was irradiated to homogeneous (water equivalent) and heterogeneous phantoms (water equivalent + air cavity, water equivalent + bone equivalent). The beam profiles were well matched within :t1 mm and the depth doses were within ${\pm}$2%. In conclusion, the dose calculations of the Convolution/Superposition and Monte Carlo simulations showed good agreement with the film measurements in the small field.

Isolation Technologies for Single-crystalline Silicon MEMS Structures Using Trench Oxide (트렌치 산화막을 이용한 단결정실리콘 MEMS 구조물의 절연기술에 관한 연구)

  • To improve the performance of MEMS devices, fabricating single-crystalline silicon HARS (high aspect ratio structure) with thicknesses of up to several tens of micrometers has been an active research topic in recent years. However, achieving electrical isolation, which is required for actuating a structure or sensing an electrical signal, has been one of the main problems in single-crystalline silicon HARS fabrication technologies. In this paper, new isolation technologies using high aspect ratio oxide beams and sidewalls are developed to achieve electrical isolation between electrodes of single-crystalline silicon HARS. The developed isolation technologies use insulating oxide structural supports from either the structural sides or from the bottom. In this case because the trench oxide supports have a depth of several tens of ${\mu}m$, the effects of residual stress must be considered. In this paper, insulating supports are fabricated using PECVD TEOS films, the residual stress of the insulating supports is measured, and the effect of the residual stress on the structure is analyzed. It is shown using microresonators, that the developed isolation technologies can be effectively used for HARS using single-crystalline silicon.

Evaluation of Soil Contamination by Copper Depleted from ACQ-Treated Wood (ACQ 방부처리목재로부터 용탈된 구리에 의한 토양오염 평가)

  • This research was performed to evaluate soil contamination caused by copper depleted from ACQ-treated wood. Three years after the exposure of ACQ-treated wood in the field test sites, soil samples around the treated wood were collected and analyzed for the copper amount and distribution through soil. Soils around the deck posts installed in five different neighborhood parks located in Chonnam and Gyeongnam were investigated for copper contents. The results of the field test showed that the amount of copper leached from the end surface of treated wood buried under soil was more than 1.5 times the copper amount leached from the lateral surfaces, and the mobility of copper was very restricted in soil. The copper contents of soil within 10 cm from the treated deck posts installed in the parks showed to be less than 500 mg/kg, which are the limit values of the 2nd region set up by enforcement regulation of soil environment conservation act. The distribution ranges of copper in soil from the treated wood set up in the field test sites seemed to be much wider than those from deck posts, which may explained by the fact that the retentions of the treated samples used in the field test sites were much higher than those of the deck posts.

  • The spermatozoa of bagrid catfish, Pseudobagrus fulvidraco are approximately $76{\mu}m$ in length, and a relatively simple and elongated cell composed of a spherical head, a short middle piece and a tail. The ultrastructure of spermatozoa of P. fulvidraco is characterized by the following features. The acrosome is absent as in most teleost. The round nucleus measuring about $1.67{\mu}m$ in length and diameter is depressed with a deep nuclear fossa. The nuclear fossa, the length of which is about three-fifths of the nuclear diameter, contains the proximal and distal contrioles. The two centrioles are oriented approximately $160^{\circ}$ to each other. The filamentous materials give rise to satellite appendages arranged tangentially from the triplets of the distal centriole and the doublets of the anterior end of the axoneme toward the nuclear envelope. The mitochondria are not fused and their number is 20 or more. They are arranged in two or three layers and two rings within the cytoplasmic collar and surround the axoneme. They are separated from the axoneme by the cytoplasmic canal. The axoneme is of the 9+2 microtubular pattern and has inner but no outer dynein arms. The two lateral fins are in the same plane with the two central microtubules, the doublets 3 and 8, which are ultrastructural characteristics of the sperm tail unlike other siluroids lacking the lateral fins.

  • Social networking services (SNS) are developing significantly with the Internet and smartphones. It's a friendly social media, but if you think deeply about it, you'll find that it has a variety of faces. It is a communication tool between users, a medium for delivering information, an infrastructure for providing applications, and a community where people with common interests gather. In recent years, business tools, shopping and payment methods are also being swallowed. The influence of the spread of SNS on the real world is also expanding, and the work being dealt with from a sociological perspective is also increasing. Also, if you pay attention to the technical aspects of SNS, it is composed of various technical elements, such as infrastructure that handles large-scale access, user interface that supports comfortable use, and big data analysis to understand people's behavior more deeply. However, I usually use it as usual. However, if you look through SNS, you can see that the situation is surprisingly profound and multifaceted. This study began by looking at the history and current status of SNS and attempted to find its status through comparison with other media. From the point of view of relationship with society, it can be a risk and legal issue when using SNS, such as crimes using bad social media or social media. It is also necessary to comment on the activities on SNS or the guidelines established by the operators. Therefore, various legal issues on SNS will be discussed. Also, as an example of using SNS, I will introduce an example of using SNS in disaster response. From a more technical point of view, you will receive commentary on SNS's network-based technology and SNS's information use, and these articles will help you understand and use SNS safely and help you further utilize or develop SNS.

n-type GaN 위에 형성된 Ti/Al/Mo/Au 및 Ti/Al/Ni/Au 오믹 접합의 isolation 누설전류 분석

  • 질화갈륨(GaN)은 높은 전자이동도 및 높은 항복전계를 가지며 낮은 온저항으로 인하여 에너지효율이 우수하기 때문에 고출력 전력소자 분야에서 많은 관심을 받고 있다. GaN을 이용한 고출력 전력소자의 경우 상용화 수준에 근접할 만한 기술적 진보가 있었으나, 페르미 레벨 고정(Fermi-level pinning) 현상, 소자의 누설전류 등 아직 해결되어야 할 문제를 갖고 있다. 본 연구에서는 실리콘 기판 위에 성장된 GaN 에피탁시를 활용한 고출력 전력소자의 누설전류를 억제시키기 위해 오믹 접합 중 Au의 상호확산을 억제하는 중간층 금속(Mo or Ni)을 변화시켰으며 오믹 열처리 온도에 따른 특성을 비교 연구하였다. $Cl_2$$BCl_3$를 이용하여 0.6 ${\mu}m$ 깊이의 메사 구조가 활성영역을 형성하였고, Si 도핑된 n-GaN 위에 Ti/Al/Mo/Au (20/100/25/200 nm) 와 Ti/Al/Ni/Au (20/100/25/200 nm) 오믹 접합을 각각 설계, 제작하였다. 오믹 열처리시의 GaN 표면오염을 방지하기 위해 $SiO_2$ 희생층을 증착하였다. 오믹 접합 형성을 위해 각 750$^{\circ}C$, 800$^{\circ}C$, 850$^{\circ}C$에서 30초간 열처리를 진행 하였으며, 이후 6 : 1 BOE 용액으로 $SiO_2$ 희생층을 제거하였다. 750, 800, 850$^{\circ}C$에서 Ti/Al/Mo/Au 구조의 오믹 접합 저항은 각 2.56, 2.34, 2.22 ${\Omega}$-mm 이었으며, Ti/Al/Ni/Au 구조의 오믹 접합 저항은 각 43.72, 2.64, 1.86 ${\Omega}$-mm이었다. Isolation 누설전류를 측정하기 위해서 두 개의 오믹 접합 사이에 메사 구조가 있는 테스트 구조를 제안하였다. Isolation 누설전류는 Ti/Al/Mo/Au 구조에서 두 오믹 접합 사이의 거리가 25 ${\mu}m$이고 100 V일 때 750, 800, 850 $^{\circ}C$의 열처리 온도에서 각 1.25 nA/${\mu}m$, 2.48 nA/${\mu}m$, 8.76 nA/${\mu}m$이었으며, Ti/Al/Ni/Au 구조에서는 각 1.58 nA/${\mu}m$, 2.13 nA/${\mu}m$, 96.36 nA/${\mu}m$이었다. 열처리 온도가 증가하며 오믹 접합 저항은 감소하였으나 isolation 누설전류는 증가하였다. 750$^{\circ}C$ 열처리에서 오믹 접합 저항은Ti/Al/Mo/Au 구조가 Ti/Al/Ni/Au 구조보다 약 17배 우수하였고, 850$^{\circ}C$ 고온의 열처리 경우 Ti/Al/Mo/Au 구조의 isolation 누설전류는 8.76 nA/${\mu}m$로 Ti/Al/Ni/Au의 누설전류 96.36 nA/${\mu}m$보다 약 11배 우수하였다. Ti/Al/Mo/Au가 Ti/Al/Ni/Au 보다 오믹 접합 저항과 isolation 누설전류 측면에서 전력용 GaN 소자에 적합함을 확인하였다.

A Study on the Users of the National Petition to CheongWaDae: Focused on their Motivations (청와대 국민청원 이용자 분석: 활용 동인을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze people's motivations to use the National Petition service of CheongWaDae, the Presidential Office of Korea. The online space has been used as a testbed of deliberative democracy. In fact, a wide variety of public opinions are being formed and gaining sympathy through the E-Petitions and Daum's Agora. In this regard, President Moon's government launched a petition site to gather public opinions. For any petition agreed on by more than 20,000 people within 30 days, the relevant ministry or the President's office must provide answers or feedback. This study wants to figure out how this National Petition is different from previous platforms like Agora or E-Petitions and why it is so well-received by people. This study uses a mix of both qualitative and quantitative methods. First, we conducted a focus group interview to factorize experiences of using the National Petition into measurable constructs. Second, we did a survey o 156 Koreans who had experienced the National Petition. Results show that symbolism, usefulness, gratification, and trust have positive impact on continuous usage intention. This study argues that symbolism, usefulness, gratification, and trust factors should be in place rather than technical aspects in order to increase the actual participation of users on the online platform of deliberative democracy. In addition, this study is meaningful in that it examined how different the CheongWaDae's National Petition is from the existing platforms for collecting public opinions and analyzed factors that encourage continuous use.
