Nuclear SSU and ITS1 rDNA and plastid rbcL sequences were determined to identify the seven samples of Porphyra cultivated by means of natural seeding on the southwest coast of Korea and analyzed to access the phylogenetic relationships of them with the natural populations of P. tenera and P. yezoensis from Korea and Japan. SSU, rbcL and ITS1 data from 18, 21 and 31 samples, respectively, including previously published sequences were investigated in the study. Results from our individual and combined data indicated that the seven samples were all P. yezoensis and the entities except one from Muan 2 aquafarm strongly grouped together with the natural populations of P. yezoensis from the south and the west coast of Korea. The sample from Muan 2 seems to be derived from a strain of P. yezoensis introduced from Japan by Porphyra farmers, based on DNA sequence data.

Objectives : Cerebrovascular disease in children is more common than once recognized and the etiology. In stroke patient, dysphagia is a common. Dysphagia often affects the rehabilitation of stroke patients by increasing the risk of aspiration pneumonia and malnutrition. This is the clinical report about 1 case of patient with dysphagia who had a stroke developed after operation. Methods : The herb medicine, moxibustion and acupuncture therapies were applied for treating this patient's chief symptom. Results : This patient's dysphagia was improved by oriental medical therapy. Conclusions : The result suggests that the herb medicine and acupuncture therapies is efficacious against dysphagia associated with stroke. We though that more studies about the Oriental medical treatment on dysphagia associated with stroke are needed.

Objectives : Molluscum Contagiosum is a contagious disease most often seen in children. It is caused by molluscum contagiosum virus(MCV-1,2). The purpose of this study is to report three cases of Molluscum Contagiosum children treated by oriental medicine. Methods : The subjects are in regard to children diagnosed as Molluscum Contagiosum. We treated three children with herbal medicine(Gwakhyangjeonggisangamibang). Results : After treatment, the symptoms(papule on the whole body and pruritus) of Molluscum Contagiosum were improved. Two children of them were cured completely and the one child still appealed a little itching. But, the one child had atopic dermatitis, and suffered from itching primarily, so after treatment the itching sign decreased rather than before an attack of Molluscum Contagiosum. Conclusions : This study shows that oriental medicine can be an effective treatment for Molluscum Contagiosum. And the further study is needed with more cases and longer duration.

To date, various strategies have been studied to increase specific productivity in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell cultures. Also, albumin-fusion platform is being applied to other important bioactive peptides with short half-lives. Here, we investigated the effects of silkworm gland hydrolysate (SGH) on the production of albumin-erythropoietin (Alb-EPO) in transgenic CHO cells. The viable cell density of CHO cells was increased by 13% in the medium containing 1 mg/mL SGH higher than in the control medium without SGH. In addition, the production of Alb-EPO was also 1.26- fold enhanced by reducing the early apoptosis of CHO cells. In conclusion, SGH could be used as a useful supplement for the enhancement of recombinant protein production.

IT 시스템 평가과정은 시스템의 보안기능과 이에 적용된 보증수단이 요구사항들을 만족하는지에 대한 신뢰도를 확인하는 것이며, 평가결과는 소비자가 IT 제품이나 시스템이 주어진 환경에 적응하기에 충분히 안전한지, 사용상 내재하는 보안위험이 허용가능한지를 결정하는데 도움이 될 수 있다. 공통평가기준(정보통신부 고시 제2002-40호)에 기반한 평가를 통하여 평가보증등급(EAL) 3 이상의 등급을 인증받기 위해서는 ALC_DVS 패밀리의 요구사항을 고려하여야 하며, 국가기관에서 요구하고 있는 EAL 3+ 등급을 획득하기 위해서는 ALC_DVS.1 컴포넌트의 요구사항을 만족하여야 한다. ALC_DVS.1 컴포넌트의 요구사항 만족 여부를 확인하기 위해서는 개발현장에 대한 실사가 필요할 수 있으나, 공통평가 기준에는 이에 관하여 세부적인 요구사항이 명시되어 있지 않다. 본 논문에서는 평가자 및 개발자가 ALC_DVS.1 컴포넌트에서 요구하는 인적, 물리적, 절차적 보안 요소를 확인하는 데 도움을 줄 수 있는 점검항목들을 도출하였다.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between limited oral function and cardiovascular disease in adults over 40 years of age. Methods: Data from the Seventh Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2016-2018) was used. In this study, 8,766 adults over the age of 40 years were included as study subjects. They completed a health survey which included current prevalence of hypertension, stroke, myocardial infarction, and angina pectoris, as well as information about blood tests, physical measurements, and oral examinations. Statistical analyses were carried out using complex sample cross-tabulation analysis, general linear model, and logistic regression analysis. Results: The study showed that limited oral function was experienced by patients with stroke (61.3%), myocardial infarction (49.1%), cardiovascular disease (38.5%), hypertension (38.1%), and angina (36.4%) (p<0.05). In patients with stroke, the risk of limited oral function was 2.393 times higher than in patients without stroke. Patients with hypertension were 1.233 times more at risk of speaking difficulty than those without hypertension. Conclusions: Limited oral function is associated with cardiovascular disease. To improve oral health, it is necessary to provide integrated, health-based oral care.

This paper describes a new method of discrimination between the normal disc and the rewritable one. The conventional method of disc discrimination, using Focus error signal, has a heavy fluctuations. To achieve an accurate discrimination, in this paper, the sum of side beam［1］signal is used for that. A new approach is expected to improve the performance of disc discrimination as well as to reduce the signal variation almost by 50％. Techniques in this paper are applicable to the all types of optical disc player, such as CD (compact disc), VCD(Video-CD) and DVD (digital versatile disc) and any other optical disc players.

In order to investigate pharmacological properties of New Wonbang Woohwangchungsimwon Pill (NSCH) and Wonbang Woohwangchungsimwon Pill (SCH), the effects of NSCH and SCH on cerebral ischemia and central nervous system were compared. Cerebral ischemia insult was performed using unilateral carotid artery occlusion in mongolian gerbils. The histological observations showed preventive effects of NSCH and SCH treatments with ischemia-induced brain damage. The ATP in brain tissue was decreased in vehicle-treated ischemic gerbils. This decrease was prevented by SCH treatment. In contrast to what was inhibited by NSCH and SCH treatments. While NSCH and SCH had no effects on the hexobarbital-induced sleeping time, they prevented the seizures induced by electric shock and strychnine. NSCH and SCH showed sedative effect in rotarod and spontaneous activity test. Furthermore, NSCH and SCH showed anti-stress effect. Our findings suggest that the pharmacological profiles of NSCH on cerebral ischemia and central nervous system are similar to those of SCH.

Plants are known as important source in the search for new drugs. The twelve compounds from Viscum album (Loranthaceae), lupeol (1), betulonic acid (2), betulinic acid (3), terminic acid (4), ursolic acid (5), $\beta$-sitosterol (6), $\alpha$-spinasterol (7), oleanolic acid (8), 5-hydroxy-1-(4′-hydoxyphenyl)-7-(4"-hydroxyphenyl)-hepta-1-en-3-on (9), 2′-hydroxy-4′,6′-dimethoxychalcone-4-O-glucoside (10), 2′-hydroxy-4′,6′-dimethoxychalcone-4-O-[apiosyl(l$\longrightarrow$2)]glucoside (11) and syringin (12) were evaluated for their immunomodulatory properties. Compounds 6 and 11 induced the macrophage tumoricidal activity and the lymphocyte blastogenesis. In addition, these compounds stimulated the macrophages to induce the production of TNF-$\alpha$ and NO. These findings suggest that compounds 6 and 11 are modulating various elements of the host immune response.

This paper analyses the effects of R＆D investment on patent in Korean manufacturing firms during the period 1984-99. The data contains 140 companies which listed in Korea Stock Exchange(KSE). We observed that the relative shares of R＆D investments and patent applications are much higher in scientific firms than in the other firms. The regression results show that R＆D investment has significantly positive effects on the growth of patent application and registration. And the effects of R＆D on patent turns out to be stronger in scientific firms than the other firms. The firm size and the capital intensity also have an important effect on the propensity to patent.
