Effects of water vapor on gas permeation and process simulation (기체투과에 미치는 수분의 영향과 공정모사)

  • 1. 서론 : 공기중의 산소와 질소를 분리하여 공기 중에 21% 함유된 산소를 보다 높은 농도(21%이상)로 농축하기 위한 기초자료로서 건조 산소(dry O$_2$)와 건조 질소(dry N$_2$)의 투과도를 측정하였다. 그러나 공기중에는 항상 수분이 포함되어 있으므로 공기 중에 함유된 수분(water vapour)에 의한 산소 투과도와 질소 투과도의 변화를 측정하기 위하여 상대숩도 및 압력차이에 따른 영향을 고찰하였다. 그리고 분리막공정에서 순수기체의 막에 대한 투과도를 알 수 있다면 기체 혼합물에 대한 이상분리인자(ideal separation factor)를 알 수 있으며, 이를 이용하여 분리막의 분리 성능 예측이 가능하므로 투과도 예측식을 얻는다는 것은 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 counter-current model을 이용하여 기체 혼합물의 투과도를 예측하고 실험치와 비교하였다.

Study on the Energy Separation Characteristics of the $100Nm^3$/hr Level Vortex Tube ($100Nm^3$/hr급 볼텍스튜브의 온도 분리 특성 연구)

  • 고압의 가스를 이용하여 고온 가스와 저온 가스를 분리하거나 입자상 물질의 분리에 사용할 수 있는 장치인 볼텍스 튜브의 에너지 분리 특성을 파악하기 위하여 $100Nm^3$/hr급 볼텍스 튜브를 제작하고 이에 대한 실험을 진행하였다. 저온측의 유량비와 오리피스 직경 및 볼텍스 튜브의 길이가 온도에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 오리피스 직경 0.6D에서 최적의 온도 분리 효과를 나타내었으며, 0.8D의 경우 그 효과가 미미하였다. 또 한 오리피스 직경이나 길이에 관계없이 저온유량비가 약 0.9부근에서 고온측의 온도가 최고점을 나타내었고, 볼텍스 튜브 길이는 저온측 온도 변화에 미미한 영향을 미치나, 오리피스 직경의 변화는 최저 온도점이 나타나는 저온 유량비에 상당한 영향을 미쳤다. 본 연구의 결과는 $100Nm^3$/hr급 볼텍스 튜브의 최적화를 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Large Scale Purification of KRF-001 on the Preparative HPLC (Preparative HPLC를 이용한 KRF-001의 대량분리정제)

  • Large scale purification to get antifungal antibiotic KRF-001 of 90% purity, was investigated using preparative HPLC. Crude KRF-001 was purified by XAD-7 adsorption chromatography, acid precipitation and microfiltration. Microfiltration was the most effective isolation method of crude KRF-001. The purification methods using C18 chromatography was convenient compared with the conventional methods. Delta PAK C18 column and Bonda PAK C18 column were adapted large scale purification of KRF-001. Gradient system of prep HPLC using Delta PAK C18 column was more effective. With these conditions, final recovery of KRF-001 yielded 77%.

  • Various kind of solutions need to be separated, purified, and concentrated using membranes in the field of industries. However, when the solution contains strong acids, the use of membrane is limited. Acid resistant membrane currently available in market does not show high efficiency of flux. This review explains the causes and mechanisms of changes in surface properties and performance of polyamide membranes when exposed to acidic solutions, and this can be used in the development of a membrane with acid resistance and high flux.

  • Aerospace applications use pyrotechnic devices with many different functions. Functional shock, safety, overall system cost issue, and availability of new technologies, however, question the continued use of these mechanisms on aerospace applications. Release device is an important example of a task usually executed by pyrotechnic mechanisms. Many aerospace applications like satellite solar panels deployment or weather balloon separation need a release device. Several incidents, where pyrotechnic mechanisms could be responsible for spacecraft failure, have been encouraging new designs for these devices. The Frangibolt is a non explosive device which comprises a commercially available bolt and a small collar made of shape memory alloy (SMA) that replace conventional explosive bolt systems. This paper presents the modeling and simulation of Frangiblot by the change of bolt size and notch geometry. This analysis may contribute to improve the Frangibolt design.

Development of Solid Separator for Selective Solid Circulation in Two-interconnected Fluidized Beds System (2탑 유동층 시스템에서 선택적 고체순환을 위한 고체분리기 개발)

  • As a basic research of developing two-interconnected fluidized beds system for selective solid circulation, a solid separator was developed to separate fine and coarse particles by means of particle size difference with particle size separation system equipped with metal screen. The effects of gas velocity, height of solid separator, and separation area on the solid separation rate were investigated as well. The solid separation rate increased as the gas velocity, height of solid separator, and separation area increased. As the gas velocity and height of the solid separator increased, the variation of the solid separation rate was consistent with that of bubble size. Consequently, coarse($212{\sim}300{\mu}m$) and fine($63{\sim}106{\mu}m$) particles were separated using the solid separator and the solid separation rate was ranged from 4.4 to 127 g/min. We also proposed two interconnenced fluidized beds system for sorption enhanced water-gas shift process equipped with the developed solid separator.

Syntactic Structure of English Split Infinitives from the Perspectives of Grammaticalization and Corpus (문법화와 코퍼스의 관점에서 본 영어 분리부정사 통사구조)

  • From the perspectives of grammaticalization and corpus, the purpose of this study is to examine the motivation of the emergence of the split infinitives in American English and to discuss the justification of the split infinitives based on the corpus empirical data such as COHA and COCA. The formerly ungrammatical split infinitives in the form of [to + adverb + verb] are now definitely grammatical forms in Present Day English (PDE). The corpus-based data confirms the legitimacy of the split infinitives with the empirical reasons like clarifying sentences (i.e., disambiguation) or strongly focused readings. In addition, the split infinitives are natural consequences caused by the grammaticalization of an infinitival particle to and most crucially by the loss of verb movement. When verb movement to T position does not occur in infinitival clauses, the word order results in [to + AdvP + V], thus forming the split infinitives. The split infinitives are no longer a matter of discussion and will continue to increase in both formal and informal contexts as being definitely grammatical forms.

  • A column chemistry is the most useful tools for isolating the elements of interest in isotope geochemistry. Here we introduce the chemical experimental procedure for Sm, Nd, La and Ce separation such as Teflon powder or Ln-resin method using HDEHP of KIGAM, KBSI, KOPRI and ${\alpha}$-HIBA(${\alpha}$-Hydroxy Isobutyric acid) method of Nagoya University, Japan. This technical report will provide an useful information in selecting the experiment method for rare earth element isotope system study such as Sm-Nd and La-Ce isotope system.

Characteristics of Water Separation for Oil-Water Mixture in a FWKO Vessel (FWKO 유수분리공정을 이용한 오일-물 혼합물의 분리특성)

  • Characteristics of water separation in a FWKO(Free Water Knok Out) vessel was investigated to remove water from oil-water mixture. Decane, toluene, and asphalt were used as model oils. Preliminary experiments were carried out for decane in a prototype FWKO vessel. Based on the results of preliminary experiments, the prototype vessel was modified and its performance was evaluated by using toluene. The effects of experimental variables on the separation of oil-water mixture were evaluated in terms of separation efficiency. The experimental variables include water cut(water ratio), number of baffles, residence times, and operation temperatures. The optimum conditions of water separation were found to be 0.8 water cut, 3 baffles, 1,200 sec, and $45^{\circ}C$.

  • Base-isolated liquid storage tanks under seismic loading were tested by the Pseudo-dynamic test method. Substructuring technique in which a mixed integration method was adopted and the liquid tanks were simply modeled as a discrete system. This study gave experimental verification on the advantage of mounting the liquid tanks on base isolators in order to reduce the hydrodynamic forces on the tank wall.
