The purpose of this study was to investigate the medical records which were described in Gupyubang(及幼方), the first Korean book that specialized in pediatrics. Methods : 85 Medical records about medical traits of diagnosis and treatments in Gupyubang were analyzed and those were translated in Korean. Results : Medical records were analyzed as follows; The number of Male was 76 and the number of Female was 9. Prepubertal period was 16 and preschool period 14. Acute febrile convulsion was 6. Measles and blood symptom was 5. Ring worm pain, vomiting & diarrhea, colic pain was 4. Most of them were self treatment except one. 77 cases were improved and 6 cases were dead or worse. The medical records used oral medication, external medication, acupuncture, moxibustion and surgical manners. Conclusion : This study showed that Gupyubang is a experiential book and alse the medical records in Gupyubang was usefulness and had practical value.

  • Lung cancer and pulmonary metastasis are the leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide. Survival for patients with lung metastases is about 5%. Nanoparticles have been developed for the imaging and treatment of various cancers, including pulmonary malignancies. In this work, we report lipid coated polymeric nanoparticles (LPNs) with an average diameter of 154 nm. In vivo performance of LPNs was characterized using optical imaging system. We expect this nanoparticle can be used for finding lung cancer or lung metastasis. Eventually loading therapeutic drug with the nanoparticle will be utilized for cancer diagnosis and effective therapy at the same time.

  • Controlled drug release is important for effective treatment of cancer. Poly(DL-lactide-co-glycolide) acid (PLGA) is a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved polymer and have been extensively studied as drug delivery carriers with biodegradable and biocompatible properties. However, PLGA drug delivery carriers are limited due to the initial burst release of drug. Certain drugs require an early rapid release, but in many cases the initial rapid release can be inefficient, reducing therapeutic effects and also increasing side effects. Therefore, sustained release is important for effective treatment. Poly Lactic Acid stereo complex (PLA SC) is resistant to hydrolysis and has high stability in aqueous solutions. Therefore, in this work, PLGA based discoidal polymeric particles are modified by Poly Lactic Acid stereocomplex (PLAsc DPPs). PLAsc DPPs are 3 ㎛ in diameter, also showing a relatively sustained release profile. Fluorescein 5(6)-isothiocyanate (FITC) released from PLAsc DPPs was continuously observed until 38 days, which showed the initial release of FITC from PLAsc DPPs was about 3.9-fold reduced as compared to PLGA based DPPs at 1 hour.

  • A Ni-W thin-film was synthesized by electrodeposition, and its corrosion resistance and electrical surface conductivity were investigated. Amount of tungsten in the Ni-W thin-film increased linearly with current density during the electrodeposition, and crack-free and low-crystalline Ni-21 at.%W coating layer was obtained. Corrosion resistances of the Ni-W thin-films were examined with an anodic polarization method and a storage test in a strong sulfuric acid solution. As a result, the Ni-21 at.%W thin-film exhibited the greatest corrosion resistance, and maintained the electrical surface conductivity even after the severe corrosion test, which could be applicable as a surface treatment for advanced metallic bipolar plates in fuel cell or redox flow battery systems.

  • Despite the importance of cycling postures during cycling performances, there has been a very little research investigating cycling postures and pedaling rate for particularly concerning domestic cyclists. The aim of this study was to analyze correlations and effects between cycling postures and pedaling rate in track cycling. Twelve male racing cyclists (six racing and university cyclists) participated in this research. For this study, seven infrared cameras (Qualisys ProReflex MCU-240s) were used for collecting data and these were processed via QTM (Qualisys Tracker Manager) software. It appeared that pedaling rate had correlations with regard to a shoulder angle (R=-.601) and displacement between shoulder joints(R= -.637), but a knee (R=-.601) and ankle angle (R=.667). Moreover, two multiple regression equations of pedaling rate for cycling postures were significant and R2 of the first order equation y (pedaling rate) = 0.039x (knee angle) - 1.068 was less than the second order equation y = 0.006x2 - 1.287x + 69.674. In conclusion, cycling postures affected the pedaling rate. Further study should be researched on postures in relation to air resistance in a wind tunnel.

  • We report a taxon of the unrecorded genus Knorringia (Polygonaceae) from Baengryeongdo, Ongin-gun, Incheon-si in the Korean peninsula. This taxon is K. sibirica (Laxm.) Tzvelev subsp. sibirica., has been known from Siberia, Mongolia and China. The new Korean name, 'Si-be-ri-a-yeo-kkwi', was given considering the species epithet and the type locality, Siberia. Description, illustration and photograph showing habitat were given.

  • Carex poculisquama $K{\ddot{u}}k$., recorded only in the literature in Korea, was confirmed to be distributed in limestone zones in the country. Carex poculisquama is most similar to species in the section Occlusae, such as C. ligulata Nees, but it differs in its rhombic-elliptic perigynium and by the presence of short hairs on the veins of its utricles. We provide here a description, illustrations, and photographs of C. poculisquama and a key to the species.

  • Justicia kampotiana Benoist (Acanthaceae) is reported as a new record for the flora of Vietnam. This species differs from its allied species J. ingrata Benoist in having corolla outside pubescent, tubes slightly longer than limbs and considerably shorter petioles. Description, line drawing and color photographs are provided for species identification. Furthermore, a comparison of the diagnostic characters with those of related species is made.

  • We report an unrecorded plant species, Elatostema laetevirens Makino (Urticaceae), in Korea. This species was collected for the first time from under the canopy of an evergreen forest in Hyodoncheon, Sanghyo-dong, Soeguipo-si and Tamra valley in Ohdeung-dong, Cheju-si of the Province of Cheju in Korea. E. laetevirens Makino was quite distinct from others of the genus Elatostema in Korea owing to its perennial nature, the absence of trichomes in the stem and the absence of peduncles during the inflorescence period. This species was given the Korean name 'pu-reun-mong-ul-pul' based on the absence of luster and the bluish green color on the adaxial surface of its leaves.

  • In this paper, a new hybrid species, Pulsatilla ${\times}$ yanbianensis H.Z. Lv, is named and described from the Yanbian area of Jilin Province in China. Molecular data confirm that this taxon is a result of natural hybridization between P. dahurica and P. cernua. As intermediate and mosaic phenotypes are expected for an interspecific hybrid, the leaves of P. ${\times}$ yanbianensis are fully expanded at the anthesis, resembling one of the parental species, P. daurica. However, the hybrid taxon is distinct from P. daurica by having reddish violet sepals and sterile fruits. Pulsatilla ${\times}$ yanbianensis also resembles the other parental species, P. cernua, in that it has dark red sepals and styles. The new hybrid, however, can be distinguished from P. cernua because it has leaf margins with short hairs and fully expanded leaves at the anthesis.
