  • The vestibular function test reveals the objective findings of the impairment of the vestibular labyrinth. It's purpose is based on the analysis of the findings and detect the location and etiology of the labyrinthine impairment. In the vestibular function test, the vestibulo-spinal reflex has the clinical significance upon the tonus of the striated muscles by the labyrithine stimulation and contribute to regulating the posture and the position, at rest as well as in motion. The vestibulo-spinal reflex must performe as one of the routine vestivular function test because it can be evoked in man by such weak stimuli to the labyrinth as cannot induce vestibulo-ocular reflex. Authors performed the vestibular function test such as one leg test, gait test, stepping test and vertical writing test to one hundred of healthy and young male adult and received the following results. Results 1. One leg test: In 30 seconds, the frequency of dropping the leg on the ground was between 0 to 3 times in Rt., and 0 to 5 times in Lt. • Many researchers have studied the process of retail evolution in the United States and in Europe. Although extensively studied(e.g., Agergaard, Olsen & Allpass, 1970; Oren, 1989), used in conceptual work(e.g., Cist, 1968), and applied as foundation in empirical work(e.g., HcNair, 1958), some limitations exist as follows: inability to cover multiple types of retail institutions and limited quantification. The purpose of this study is to build a conceptual framework combining existing retail evolution theories to overcome existing limitations. Data collection and analysis followed a qualitative research design, specifically a grounded theory type of design with a constant comparative analysis method. As a result of the study, a conceptual framework was built by synthesizing aspects of retail evolution theories and showed retail institution types in a change process.

  • This research is to decide the possibility of using RM50(reformulated methanol fuel) without any modification of engine by the method of numerical analysis. Comparing the heat release rate, the difference among each fuel was decreased according to the increase of the engine speed, and the maximum heat release rate was higher in the order of RM50 and gasoline fuel. Also, this order corresponds to the order of burning speed. RM50 had the higher turbulent burning speed, and the curve of turbulent intensity was showed similar tendency to the curve of turbulent burning speed. RM50 had relatively high burning speed, short quenching length, high temperature in cylinder, so that it might increase NO emission, but owing to chemical reaction dynamics, it was decreased NO emission. Therefore, in order to predict the possibility of using RM50, it is needed to consider not only the temperature in cylinder by low heating value, but also combustion characteristics including burning speed.

  • Most of the aerospace propulsion is based on the Brayton cycle, in which the combustion is held through the constant pressure process, but further improvement of performance by increasing compression ratio is challenged by mechanical limits. Detonation propulsions, regarded promising for high-speed propulsion for a lase decade, is more rigorously studied in these days as a game-changer for the improvement of thermodynamic efficiency of propulsion and power generation systems. Since, the additional compression by the strong shock of the detonation wave is considered increasing thermodynamics efficiency that is hardly achievable by the conventional compression systems. Present paper will give an introduction the latest technical trends on the Pulse Detonation Engines(PDEs) and the activities on the Pressure Gain Combustion (PGC) based on Constant Volume Combustion (CVC).

  • Pulse Detonation Engine (PDE) has been considered as a future propulsion system for broad range of operation and higher thermal efficiency. Various subsystem technologies have been studied for more than decade to improve the performance of the potential system. New valve systems has been developed for the stable operation at high frequency including inflow-driven valve, rotary valve and valveless system. To foster the detonation initiation with a little ignition energy, plasma ignition method and DDT (deflagration to detonation transition) acceleration method such as swept ramp mechanism have been studied. Fluidic nozzle system and other nozzle system are the ongoing research topics to maximize the propulsion performance of the PDE. Present paper introduces the state of the art of PDE subsystem technologies developed in recent years.

  • The purpose of this study is preventing the stick, scuffing, scratch between piston and cylinder in advance, and obtaining data for duration test in actual engine operation. The temperature gradient in cylinder bore according to coolant temperature were measured using $1.5{\ell}$ class diesel engine. 20 thermocouples were installed 2mm deep inside from cylinder wall near top ring of piston in cylinder block, at which points major thermal loads exist. It is suggested as proper measurement points for engine design by industrial engineers. Under full load and $70^{\circ}$, $80^{\circ}C$ and $90^{\circ}C$ coolant temperature conditions, the temperature in cylinder block and engine oil increased gradually according to the increase of coolant temperature, the siamese side temperature of top dead center is $142^{\circ}C$ in peripheral distribution, that is about $20^{\circ}C$ higher than that at thrust, anti-thrust, and rear side temperature, respectively. The maximum pressure of combustion gas in $70^{\circ}C$ coolant temperature is about 2 bar lower than those of $80^{\circ}C$ and $90^{\circ}C$ coolant temperature. The engine torque in $80^{\circ}C$, $90^{\circ}C$ coolant temperature condition is about 4.9Nm higher than that of $70^{\circ}C$ coolant temperature.

  • Thrust vector control system is a control device which is mounted on the exit of the nozzle to generate pitch, yaw and roll directional force by deflecting flow direction of the supersonic jet from the nozzle. Thermal and aerodynamic loads are acting on the surface of jet vane when it is exposed to the jet flow. Axial thrust loss and side thrust loss are affected by shock patterns and interactions between jet-vanes which varies with jet-vane geometry and turning angle. In this research, the performance estimation using the numerical simulation analysis of the nozzle is given and the investigation of the flow visualization and aerodynamic performance with the enforced power to the vane is taken.

  • There have been many methods for measuring the injection rate of diesel engines, but the results of them are not always identical and the reason for the discordance is not clear. Besides, a single shot injection equipment has been used for the fuel spray and the combustion research of diesel engines, but the results of experiment using the equipment don't apply to a volleyed shot injection of real engines. This paper investigates the merits and faults of the Bosch's method and the Zeuch's method, at the same, this paper also compares the injection rates of single shot inject rates of single shot injection and a volleyed shot injected by the Bosch's method. the results are summarized as follows: (1) The measurement error of the Bosch's method is about $\pm$1%, therefore, its accuracy is reliable. (2) By the Bosch's method, as the speed and the load of fuel pump increase, the injection rate becomes higher, on the contrary, the injection period(ms) shortens as the speed increases and the load decreases. (3) In this experiment, the injection rate of a single shot injection is lower than that of a volleyed shot injection under the same conditions. (4) The bulk modulus of elasticity using the Zeuch's method increases in proportion to the back pressure. (5) The Zeuch's method is less accurate than the Bosch's method.

  • The objective of this study is to design and manufacture a fuel pump with the plunger diameter of 4 mm and stroke of 7 mm that can be mounted in a small single-cylinder four-stroke agricultural diesel engine, and to investigate the performance characteristics of the pump. The combustion pressure in a cylinder was reproduced by forming the back pressure of 1, 6, 11, 16 and 21 bar with a nitrogen gas in the home-manufactured modeling cylinder. In the experiment, the discharge pressure was measured at the spot of 1 cm away from the discharge port of a developed fuel pump. The delivery pressure and delivery flow rate were measured at the spot of 30 cm away from the discharge port of the pump, and the pump efficiency was calculated. The pump motor speed was changed from 600 to 800, 1000, 1200 and 1400 rpm. It is found that the delivery feed rate of fuel pump is increased as the rotational speed is raised, and is decreased as the back pressure, compression pressure in the cylinder, is increased. Also, the pump efficiency is reduced as the rotational speed and back pressure are increased.
