  • Composite draw textured yarns(DTY) and air jet textured yarns(ATY) with hollow PET filament have been used for making high emotional fabrics including light weight sports wear garments. This study investigated effect of hollow composite yarns and fabric structural parameters to the comfort properties related to the moisture and thermal transport phenomena for the composite fabrics made of DTY and ATY with hollow PET filament. Wicking property of hollow composite fabric was superior at the high pore size fabric and was not influenced by fabric cover factor. Wicking property of the fabric with ATY was better than that of the fabric with DTY. On the other hand, drying rate of fine pore sized fabric was shorter than that of large pore sized fabric and drying rate of high multi yarn fabric with low cover factor and small pore size was superior than that of hollow composite fabric. The pore size of the fabric was dominant factor in the air permeability and thermal conductivity of hollow composite fabric. High pore sized fabric showed high air permeability and thermal conductivity of hollow composite fabric was nonlinearly inversely proportional to pore size of the fabric.

  • Structural and textural characteristics of egg custard with 1.5ft sodium chloride as salt or soused shrimp juice were investigated by SEM, texturometer and sensory evaluation.: 1. Egg custard without sodium chloride showed flat, crosslinkaged structure and no pores. : but the addition of salt or soused shrimp juice developed much of round pores and smooth walls. 2. There were significant difference in hardness between without sodium chloride group and boiled soused shrimp juice group. 3. there were significant difference in appearance, taste and texture, but flavor and total acceptability did not showed significant difference in preference test. In discriminating test, swellness, softness, flavor, color, holes and hardness were important factors affecting the preference to determine the characteristics of egg custard.

  • Several types of mesoporous alumina adsorbents with different physical properties were prepared by spray pyrolysis and were used for the separation/purification of the anticancer agent paclitaxel. The pore diameter of the adsorbents had a greater effect than did the surface area and the pore volume on the removal of plant-derived impurities. An appropriate pore diameter (~10.8 nm) was required for effective impurity removal. At a constant pore diameter, the surface area of the adsorbent affected not only the purity but also the yield of paclitaxel. Also, increasing the surface area of the adsorbent resulted in an increase in the adsorption of paclitaxel and impurities (biomass-derived tar and wax components). Removal of these impurities was confirmed by HPLC analysis of the absorbent after the treatment and TGA of the organic substances that were bound to the adsorbent.
