The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between smoking attitudes and psychophysiological variables and to find out whether smoking cessation activities can be helpful for smoking cessation. We set up Negative Attitudes experience as a dependent variable. Several factors including Psychological Resistance, Psychological Distress and brainwave(Left brain ${\theta}$, Right Brain ${\theta}$) as a physiological indicator, which was expected to affect flow, were set up as independent variables to perform regression analysis. As a result, psychological resistance had negative influences on negative attitudes toward smoking in smoking simulation game and psychological distress had positive effect. And left brain ${\theta}$ had negative influences on negative attitudes toward smoking in smoking simulation game and right brain ${\theta}$ had positive effect.

This study was performed to survey factors related to smoking and smoking conditions among college students in H-gun. Data were collected and analyzed through a questionnaire from 181 college students in H-gun between the 26th and 30th of October, 2015. Using SPSS/WIN statistics 18.0, the data was analyzed by $X^2-test$, t-test, Spearman rho Correlation and Multiple Logistic Regression. There was a significant positive correlation among body weight, height, smoking cessation confidence, depression and smoking status. There was a significant negative correlation between smoking attitude and smoking status. The factors affecting smoking status explained 62.0% of the smoking status. The factors related to smoking were negative smoking attitude (OR 0.717, 95% CI 0.543-0.945) and high level of smoking cessation confidence (OR 1.281, 95% CI 1.117-1.470). It is necessary to improve smoking cessation confidence and increase negative smoking attitude in a smoking cessation program for college students.
Purpose: This study was conducted to identify factors for smoking middle school students' intention to quit smoking on the basis of the social influence and self-efficacy [ASE] model. Methods: Data were collected from 2,015 students from five middle schools in Daegu with a structured questionnaire in March, 2013 and analyzed by using $x^2$-test, ANOVA, pearson's correlation and multiple regression analysis. Results: The smoking rate was 6.1% among the total subjects and 85.4% of the smokers had intention to quit smoking. The mean value of attitude toward quitting smoking was $2.15{\pm}0.34$, that of social influence $3.38{\pm}0.65$, and that of self-efficacy $2.84{\pm}0.95$. The multiple regression analysis showed an explanatory power of 24.7%, and experience of trying to quit smoking was the strongest factor affecting the intention to quit smoking (${\beta}$=.34, p<.01), followed by school years and social influence. Conclusion: In order to increase smoking middle school students' intention to quit smoking, intervention strategies are needed to increase positive social influence or to offer public information to younger smoking students in low school years.

This study was conducted to identify the related factors of cancer preventive behaviors for adolescent smokers. Data were collected from September 1st 2012 to March 31st 2013 of 200 adolescent smokers who were participating in smoking cessation school at W hospital in B city. As a results, there were significant differences in cancer preventive behaviors by grade, religion, benefit, barrier, perceived health status, daily living, alcohol, exercise, nicotine dependency, first smoking age, smoking duration and non-smoking intention. Cancer preventive behaviors were weakly negative related to knowledge about cancer, And there is weakly positive correlation between cancer preventive behaviors and attitude about cancer. Meaningful variables which explain cancer preventive behaviors were daily living, barrier, grade, exercise, benefit, knowledge about cancer, smoking cessation intention in order. Total explanation power was 30.6% and daily living has most explanation power. In conclusion, It is necessary to encourage sound hobbies and exercise instead of smoking for adolescent smokers in their daily living. And health education programmes, based on the grade and smoking cessation intention of adolescent smokers, need to be developed to emphasize the benefit of cancer preventive behaviors, and to decrease barriers against those behaviors.
The purpose of this study was to identify the dementia knowledge, attitudes and preventive behaviors of middle aged adults. The participants were 297 middle aged adults living in P city. Data were collected by using self-report questionnaires and data were analyzed by SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. The mean score of dementia knowledge was 9.0, attitude toward dementia was 2.98 and preventive behavior was 2.22. The dementia knowledge was positively correlated with preventive behaviors and attitude toward to dementia. The influencing factors of preventive behavior were smoking, drinking, dementia knowledge and monthly income. The explanation power was 39%. These result suggest that in order to promote dementia preventive behaviors of middle aged adults, an education program should be develop to improve dementia knowledge including no smoking and reduce alcohol drinking.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify nicotine dependence, smoking-related attitude, and subjective norms across the stages of change for smoking cessation among adult smokers in a rural area. Method: The subjects were 276 current smokers (male=243, female=33). There were 3 stages of change for smoking cessation: pre-contemplation, contemplation, and preparation stage. Data was collected by an interview or self-reporting from February 12th to March 5th 2004, and analyzed with frequency, percentage, $X^2-test$, Fisher's exact probability test, ANOVA, and Scheffe test using the SPSS-PC program. Result: According to the stages of change, 114(41.3%) current smokers were in pre-contemplation, 110(39.9%) in contemplation, and 52(18.8%) in the preparation stage. There was a higher percentage of males than females ($X^2-test$=8.99, p=.011) in the preparation stage. The mean score of the smoking-related attitude (F:7.43, p=.001) and subjective norm(F=27.41, p=.001) were both lowest in the pre-contemplation stage and increased positively during the stages of change for smoking cessation. Conclusion: Based on these findings, the authors recommend that community-based smoking cessation programs should be developed by considering the intention or motives of current smokers and should be initiated in the preparation stage and primarily for male groups.
Objectives: The purpose of the study is to investigate the knowledge, attitudes, and needs of smoking cessation education in the dental hygienists. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 262 dental hygienists in Seoul and Gyeonggido from September 25 to December 31, 2015. This study was conducted to analyze the degree of changes in knowledge and attitude toward smoking and to examine the factors affecting knowledge and attitude for smoking after providing a smoking prevention program based on social influence model for a year to middle school students. Study population consists of 665 subjects of middle school students(aged 14 years) in Gumi city in Kyeongsangbukdo Province. Among them three-hundred sixty-seven students(intervention group) were educated to a smoking prevention program for 1 year from April 1999 to April 2000. School-based four-class program to prevent smoking was developed. The program provides instruction about short and long-term negative physiologic and social consequences of smoking and also discussed the health hazards of smoking, social pressure to smoke, peer norms regarding tobacco use, and refusal skill. A 45-item self-administered structured questionnaire was designed to evaluate the change of knowledge, attitude, smoking rate and the amount of smoking. The instrument was comprised of 11 knowledge items, thirteen attitude item and demographic items. Each scales were created by summing responses to each items within each scales and high scores on the knowledge, attitude, and smoking behavioral intention scales indicated positive responses. Based on the changes before and after the implementation of smoking prevention program between intervention and control group, the change of scores on knowledge were significantly different between the control group and the intervention group(p<0.05) and the change of scores on the attitude toward smoking was significantly different between intervention and control group. The change of smoking rate were not showing a significant difference between two groups but the amount of smoking were significantly reduced in intervention group than control group. In multiple regression analysis on changes of knowledge about smoking, the variables of smoking prevention program education, previous knowledge on smoking and students' school performance were selected the significant variables. In multiple regression to analysis of the factors influencing changes in attitude toward smoking, the variables of smoking prevention program education, previous knowledge on smoking were shown to be significant. The smoking prevention program was effective on change of knowledge and attitude of middle school students. In considering that the policy should be needed to extent of implementation of school-based health education curricula based on social influence model and it would contribute to reduce smoking of students.
