Abdominal Muscle Activity during Warm-up (Head to Toe) Exercise Compared to Tongue-stretching Exercise (Warming up 운동과 Tongue-stretching 운동 시 복근 활성도의 비교)

  • 연구의 목적 : 건강한 20대 성인 남녀에게 복부 강화 운동의 하나인 warm-up (head to toe)와 tongue-stretching 운동 시 복근의 근 활성도를 비교하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 연구의 방법 : 본 연구는 12명의 건강한 20대 성인 남녀(남 5, 여 7)를 대상으로 하였으며, 평균 연령은 26세이다. 연구의 대상자는 복근에 sEMG 도자를 부착하여 두 운동 적용 시 복부 근활성도에 대한 남녀의 차이와 개별 운동 시 각 근육간의 근활성도 차이를 SPSS 13.0을 이용하여 분석하였으며, 두 운동 적용 시 global 근육과 local 근육간의 비율을 1이라 가정하고 기여도를 측정하였다. 연구의 결과 : 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 두 운동을 적용 시 남녀의 차이는 없었다. 2) 두 운동 적용 시각 근육간 근활성도 차이는 보이지 않았으나, 배속빗근(internal oblique)는 차이를 보였다. 3) 두 운동 적용 시global 근육과 local 근육간의 비율은 배곧은근(rectus abdominis)과 배속빗근과의 비율은 3으로 배속빗근이 배 곧은근의 근활성도 보다 컸음을 보였으며, 배바깥빗근(exernal oblique)과 배속빗근과의 비율은 약 1.5로 배속빗근의 활성도가 컸다. 연구의 결론 : 복부 강화 운동의 하나인 warm-up과 tongue-stretching 운동을 적용 시 복근의 활성도를 비교한 결과에서 보여주듯이 local 근육 강화 운동 시 두 운동의 효과를 향후 분석하여 요통환자와 같이 복부 강화가 필요한 환자의 프로그램에 적용되어져 할 것이다.

A comparative study of lower extremity muscle activity in adults in their 20s with flat foot that applied low-dye taping and foot intrinsic muscle strengthening exercise (Low-dye 테이핑과 발 내재근육 강화 운동을 적용한 편평발을 가진 20대 성인의 하지 근육활성도 비교 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate effect of low-dye taping and foot intrinsic muscle strengthening exercise on the muscle activity of the tibialis anterior, calf muscles, and long calf muscles during one-foot standing in subjects with flat feet. The subjects were 16 adults in their 20s with flat feet, and they were divided into low-dye taping (LTG; n=8) and foot intrinsic muscle strengthening exercise (FSG; n=8) groups. Each group underwent the appropriate intervention twice a week for 6 weeks. The muscle activity of the tibialis anterior, long calf muscle, and medial calf muscle was measured. Repeated two-way ANOVA was performed to compare changes in muscle activity before and after the intervention. As a result of muscle activity measurement, LTG significantly decreased between before and after the experiment in all muscles (p<.05). In FSG, only the tibialis anterior significantly decreased between before and after the experiment (p<.05). Therefore, low-dye taping and foot intrinsic muscle strengthening exercises will be helpful for efficient the lower extremity muscle activity of flat foot.

Effect of trichostatin A on NF-κB DNA binding activity and myogenesis in C2Cl2 skeletal muscle Precursor cell (C2C12 근육아세포에서 trichostatin A에 의한 NF-κB DNA 결합 활성과 근육발생에 미치는 영향)

  • The differentiation of skeletal muscle precursor cells in culture is marked by the transcriptional activation of muscle-specific genes and the morphological differentiation of myoblast into multinucleate myotube. In this study, we examined the effect of TSA (Trichostatin A) on WF-kB DNA binding activity and muscle cell fusion in the process of myogenesis. Under TSA treatment, C2C12 myoblast could not fuse to myotube and its NF-kB DNA binding activity was also blocked. To investigate whether these phenomenons were affected by TSA in direct or not, differentiation media (DM) used to differentiate cells without TSA was concentrated and added to C2C12 myoblast with TSA simultaneously. C2C12 myoblast was fused to myotube and NF-kB DNA binding activity was recovered. These results suggest that TSA affects on the differentiation of myoblast, perhaps through several factors, by inhibiting myoblst fusion and blocking NF-kB DNA binding activity.

Analysis of Differences in Muscle Activity according to Badminton Stroke Movements (배드민턴 스트로크 동작에 따른 근활성도 차이 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to construct basic data for efficient technical training by investigating the difference in muscle activity during badminton technical movements involving jump motions similar to game situations. Seven male badminton players were randomly assigned to perform smash, drop, and clear techniques, and electromyograms were measured during the implementation of three technical movements. Measured EMG was calculated by RMS and one-way ANOVA was performed. The muscle activity of the smashing motion did not show any significant difference according to the site. In drop motion, activity of PM in the upper extremity muscles was lower than that of BC and ECR, and FCR activity was lower than that of EC. The activity of ECR was higher than that of PM and FCR. The activity of ES in trunk muscles was lower than that of RF and GM. RF activity of lower extremity muscles was higher than that of ES and BF. In clear motion, the activity of TC in upper extremity muscle was higher than FCR. The activity of ES in trunk muscles was lower than that of BF. RF activity of lower extremity muscles was higher than that of BF, and BF activity was lower than that of RF and GM. The activity of GM was higher than that of BF. As for muscle activity according to badminton skills, smash and drop motions were higher than clear motions in FCR, and clear motions were higher than smash and drop motions in RA. In conclusion, it is considered that muscle activity during the badminton game is different according to the characteristics of each skill, and FCR can affect the smash and drop, and RA can affect the clear motion.

  • This paper interprets the relationship between the physical activity of the human and the signal of the brain to show the meaningful results in the process of sending and receiving information to the connected muscles. When a person works or thinks, a specific brain signal is generated from the brain and being trasmmited to the connected part. The EMG signal, which has muscle activity information, outputs the result of the muscle activation as an electrical signal, which outputs muscle activity information usually due to muscle contraction and relaxation. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the two signals, which are difficult to identify easily by visual data extraction and data acquisition by extracting such EMG and EMG in real time.

Effect of Water Volume and Temperature on Muscle Activity of the Supra and Infrahyoid Muscles (물의 양과 온도가 목뿔위근육과 목뿔아래근육의 근활성도에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives : This study was conducted to investigate the activity of the supra and infrahyoid muscles according to the temperature and the amount of water in healthy adults. Methods : The amount of water was set to 3 mL and 20 mL, and the temperature was subdivided into $4^{\circ}C$, $22^{\circ}C$, and $40^{\circ}C$ in order to compare the activity of the supra and infrahyoid muscles in twenty-seven healthy adults. We used the mean value of the activity of the supra and infrahyoid muscles while they were swallowing saliva in order to set the reference voluntary contraction (%RVC). Results : Muscle activity was significantly increased when they swallowed 20 mL of water rather than 3 mL in the left infrahyoid muscles at $4^{\circ}C$, $22^{\circ}C$ and $40^{\circ}C$ (p=.00; p=.00; p=.00), the right infrahyoid muscles at $22^{\circ}C$and $40^{\circ}C$ (p=.01; p=.01), the left suprahyoid muscles at $4^{\circ}C$ (p=.03). Muscle activity of the right suprahyoid muscles was significantly decreased at $40^{\circ}C$ compared to $4^{\circ}C$ and $22^{\circ}C$ when they swallowed 20 mL of water (p=.04). Conclusion : In the future, other variables such as viscosity and taste should be considered, and further studies on patients with impaired nervous system as well as healthy subjects will be needed.

  • Investigation on the characteristics of actomyosin was prepared from leg and breast muscle of duck treated by hard scalding and subscalding method and their extractability , ATPase activity , solubility and SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis were compared. The extractability of actomyosin in leg and breast muscle of duck by hard scalding was 7.84 and 39.84mg/g, whereas 4.79 and 28.04mg/g by subscalding respectively. Ca-ATPase activity of breast muscle wash higher than that of leg muscle. In case of leg muscle, hard scalding was higher tan subscalding. Breast muscle showed that subscalding was higher than hard scalding in less than ionic strength 0.08, and was lower than hard scalding in over ionic strength 0.08.Mg-ATPase was great in ionic strength and subcalding was relatively higher than hard scalding. Without regard to be treated method and part, the start point and end point of solubility were like. Hard scalded muscle and breast muscle showed that proteins in thin filament produced many extraction.

A Convergence Study on Immediate Effects of kinesio taping on upper extremity pain and muscle activation of lateral epicondyle DOMS (가쪽위관절융기의 지연성 근육통을 유발하여 키네시오 테이핑 적용이 상지의 통증과 근활성도 미치는 즉각적 효과에 관한 융합적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the immediate effects of kinesio taping on upper extremity pain and muscle activation of lateral epicondyle DOMS. This research is randomized controlled designd study and conducted as a single-blind. Twenty four subjects were participated in this study, All the patients were divided two group, were kinesio taping applied group, placebo kinesio taping applied group. The participants were tested pressure upper extremity pain threshold and muscle activation, pre-post intervention. After raining, the change values of the pain and muscle activation in KT group were significantly greater than PKT group(p<0.05). This findings show that kinesio taping training convergence interventions for lateral epicondyle DOMS pain and upper extremity. Continued development on convergence interventions for lateral epicondyle DOMS with pain and upper extremity in the practice are suggested.

Study on Biochemical Pollutant Markers for Diagnosis of Marine Pollution X. Changes in Oxygen Radicals and Their Scavenger Enzymes of the Mussel (Mytilus coruscus) in the South Sea (해양오염의 진단을 위한 생화학적 오염지표에 관한 연구 X. 남해산 홍합 (Mytilus coruscus)의 산소 라디칼 및 제거효소의 변화)

  • This study was designed as a part of efforts to investigate the biochemical pollutant markers for diagnosis of marine pollutions by changes in oxygen radicals and their scavenger enzymes of the mussel (Mytilus coruscus) in South Sea of Korea. Protein contents in muscle of cultured mussel in South Sea were remarkably lower (4-14%, respectively) than those of wild mussel in Pohang of East Sea. Superoxide radical activities in muscle of cultured in South Sea were significantly higher 82∼138% than those of wild mussel in Pohang. Hydroxyl radical formations in muscle of cultured mussels in South Sea were significantly 9∼25% higher than those of wild mussels in Pohang. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities in muscle of cultured mussels in South Sea were significantly 16∼28% lower than those of wild mussels in Pohang. It is believed that significantly decrease of protein contents in muscle, remarkable increases of superoxide radical and hydroxyl radical in muscle of cultured mussels of South Sea may be used as a biochemical pollutant markers for diagnosis of marine pollutions. These results suggest that near-coastal water as well as neritic water of the south sea might be affected by pollutant.

A Study on the Core Muscle Activation Characteristics of Suspension Training by Ground Type (지면의 유형에 따른 서스펜션 트레이닝의 코어근육 활성화에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, the effects of suspension training according to the types of ground. Fourteen healthy male college students measured for the characteristics of core muscle activity in suspension training on two different types of grounds, normal flat and unstable ground using a gym ball. EMG (Electromyography) was exploited to measure the activity of the core muscles according to the types of the ground. Muscle activity of the abdominal muscles, external oblique muscles, internal oblique muscles, and lower lumbar standing muscles was measured. The variables in analyses were measured by the means of % MVC method to standardize the EMG signal according to the ground type for each core muscle. In order to verify the differences in core muscles according to the type of ground the paired t-tests were performed at the significance level of 0.05 (p<.05). As a result of measuring the activity of the core muscles according to the various types of grounds, the difference between muscle characteristics obtained in two different grounds did not appear to be statistically significant. However, the result is an important clue to reconsider the notion that the training effect on the unstable ground is generally superior to the effect on the stable ground in the core muscle training. The type of ground in the core muscle training has been found not to significantly affect the muscle activation according to the results of this study. Regardless of the type of exercise program, hence, the difference in muscle activation will not be insignificant even with the standardized program strengthening core muscles.
