Respect on one's own body, knowledge of sexual and reproductive organs, eggs and sperms, menstrual cycle, effect of hormones were also easily found topics from the books. The least mentioned topics were HIV/AIDS and Gender-based violence. 63.5% of the analyzed books were books with/without illustrations. Other formats include picture books, comic books, and photo-illustrated books. Publication of books aimed for particular gender started to increase from 2019. Diversity of authors' occupation were also shown starting 2019. Further research on the role of sex education books is crucial to help all children and young adults develop their own sexuality and understand that of other people, and ultimately to live in a harmonious society.

New education methodologies exploiting new media technologies are emerging with the development of digital technology. There also have been researches on efficient methods to apply new technologies on special education. In this paper, we analyze 32 researches associated with application of new media technology on special education for research theme, media, and teaching types. The analysis results show that there is few research on intervention contents which consider special education environment and the roll of teacher. This motivates us to develop a social storytelling contents to improve sociality of the children with developmental disability which can be easily useable in special education environment. The basic structure of the contents is designed for a child to make a choice in the meantime of storytelling and experience the different results depending on the choice. The pilot test with a child with mild autism verifies that it draws attention from the child and it is easy to use in a special education environment, which lays down the possibility as an intervention content.
This study investigated the effects of story making activity with wordless picture books on the language abilities of 5- and 6-year-old children. The 52 subjects attending a kindergarten in Kwangju were randomly assigned to an experimental group or a control group of 26 children each. The experimental group made stories with wordless picture books while the control group listened to stories. Experimental treatments were given twice a week for 6 weeks. Assessment was by The Language Comprehension-Cognition Test(1994), The Picture Vocabulary Test(1995), and The Sentence-Comprehension Test(1996). Qualitative level of the stories was analyzed by Morrow's(1985) revised Instrument Assessing Children Understanding of Stories(Chae, 1996). This study analyzed readers' responses of children of families with immigration background on children's literature that describes similar life experiences with the readers, based on Brooks & Browne's Culturally Situated Reader Response Theory. Six children between 10 and 16 met the researcher three times each, and read along four different texts about multiculturalism in Korea. The texts include On the Road Together, a picture book, and three short stories in The Black Egg. Participating children showed various ethnic identities - identity as a Korean; identity as a foreigner; identity between a Korean and a foreigner; identity as a child of a multicultural (bicultural) family. The children empathized with the characters or showed their frustrations against racism portrayed in the texts. The four texts used in this study worked as a mirror that reflects each child's own self, and further allowed the children to contemplate their own identities and speak out about their deepest thoughts and feelings. The children were dissatisfied with the main characters' powerlessness and depressing endings of the stories. They wanted the characters with immigration background to be positive and bright, and expected stories about peaceful relationship between children of families with immigration background and children with non-immigration background.

This study aimed to identify the effects of using storytelling techniques in sex education, in which students are encouraged to talk about their experiences with sex and love and helps them form their own sex values and decision-making skills related to sex. A five-period teaching-learning plan covering issues including safe, considerate and responsible sex was developed using the storytelling technique for 134 first-year students in 4 classes. 134 questionnaires were administrated through pre-and post-test and 38 worksheets applying a variety of storytelling activities were analyzed using content analysis. Students were found to have gained a more positive outlook on relationships and a considerate attitude towards others in sex. There was also a significant increase in items considering safe sex, including perceptions on contraception methods and selection of safe contraception methods. The students' sense of sexual responsibility was also enhanced. Results of content analysis found students to have shifted to sex focusing on love and responsibility, and to have grown a stronger sense of responsibility in their relationships. This study developed a program suitable for operating an infinite creative space within the public library, and analyzed the effect of promoting participants' creativity through a trial run of the program. To do this, we operated a "picture book making activities" program in the infinite creative space of J library located in Chungbuk. This program was performed for 18 elementary students in grades 3-6. Torrance TTCT (The Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking) tools were used in this study to measure the overall creativity. As a result, first, awareness of the importance and interest in environmental science was improved through the whole program process. Second, participants' problem-solving abilities improved during the program by having to derive a solution for a given problem through brainstorming. Third, storytelling ability improved after the story-creating elements of the program. Fourth, each participants' creativity was improved through creative activities. Fifth, by publishing the results of creative activities of participants as books, the self-esteem of participating children improved as well.
Since it is imperative to share the values with the spectators to convince the public of the era, the main characters of a story that underwent numerous adaptation through time would change gradually. This paper examined changes of the main characters in various versions of Cinderella. Until the mid-20th century, Cinderella would be portrayed as a meek, passive and obedient girl as in the original fairy tale version of Perrault. As moving to 70s, a heroine who acts with her own feelings and thoughts began to appear. In the 90s, spectators could meet a protagonist who fought fiercely to be the owner of her own fate, and in the recent Disney movie, Cinderella stood up for herself while accepting herself as she was. The prince character also underwent similar transition. In the early versions of Cinderella, the prince would be a vague figure with a title who was desired by all maids in the country. It is in the 70s that the prince began to be portrayed as a person who has his own problems. In the recent years, the spectators could see the process that the prince transformed from a naive aristocrat to a man with responsibilities. In modern society, women have more social opportunities compared to the past, and women's social statuses do not need to be secured by relationship with men any longer. Thus Cinderella story is not as popular nowadays, moreover somebody whose dream is becoming Cinderella would subject to social reproach. However, beside the gender, the story could be the only hope for people who feel a sense of helplessness that there is no chance in their lives. As result variations of Cinderella story will go on as long as people of social deprivation exist.
