Correlation between the Illuminance and the Flowering and Leaf Growth of Trees at Night - In Case of Downtown from Jamsil Station to Olympic Park, Seoul - (도심 내 야간의 조도와 봄철 수목 개화 및 잎 생장 간 상관관계 - 서울 잠실역에서 올림픽공원 구간을 대상으로 -)

  • In this paper, according to the illuminance at night with artificial lighting in downtown Seoul, trees flowering and leaf growth rate was performed as a case study to examine whether there is a difference. The illuminance was measured at 78 points on a total of 26 points, the range of illuminance were divided into three groups considering land use, Group A (plots 1-7) were 4.90 ~ 112.50 lx, Group B (plots 8 to 18) were 0.45 ~ 42.40 lx, group C (plots 19 to 26) were 0.28 ~ 22.10 lx. According to the One-way ANOVA on illuminance difference, the survey groups were classified into three groups. To survey the ratio of the flowering Prunus yedoensis and Rhododendron spp. and to survey the ratio of leaf growth Zelkova serrata, Ginkgo biloba, and Acer palmatum each 30 individuals were investigated. Rhododendron spp. to study the ratio of the flowering and Acer palmatum to study the ratio of leaf growth were determined to be useful as indicator woody species according to the correlation. The higher illuminance of night lighting is, the faster flowering and leaf growth of trees will be by correlation between the mean illuminance of each group and the flowering and leaf growth of trees. In the future, should be made a more detailed study of how much affect to the trees with some impact on the level of light pollution at night lighting.

A Study on the Genetic Variations of Tricholoma matsutake Collected from Eleven Sites of Korea Using I-SSR PCR (I-SSR PCR을 이용한 한국의 11개 주요 산지에서 채집한 송이의 유전변이에 관한 연구)

  • The objectives of this study was to identify genetic variations of Tricholoma matsutake (S. Ito et Imai) Sing. growing in different geographic ranges in South Korea. Mushrooms were collected during fruiting seasons from 1994 to 1997 from 11 major sites which included four sites (Bonghwa, UIjin, Goryoung, and Chungdo) in Kyongbuk Province, three sites (Changnyung, Hadong, and Hamyang) in Kyongnam Province, two sites (Yangyang and Inje) in Kangwon Province, one site (Goisan) in Choongbuk Province, and one site (Namwon) in Chonbuk Province. Two mushrooms each from three to eight shiros in each sites were collected. Genetic characteristics were analyzed by Inter-Simple Sequence Repeat Polymerase Chain Reaction (I-SSR PCR) method using six primers. With a total of 131 DNA bands identified, Nei's genetic distance and UPGMA tree were constructed. It was estimated that genetic variations between sites amounted to 12.9%, while 87.1% of total variation was explained by variations among individuals within sites. The cluster analysis indicated that the eleven major sites were clustered into four groups, group I (Yangyang, Hamyang, Inje, Hadong and UIjin), group II (Changnyung, Namwon and Chungdo), group III (Goryoung), and group IV (Bonghwa and Goisan). It is concluded that matsutake mushrooms in South Korea have a considerable degree of genetic variations between major sites.

  • 많은 생리적 지능 연구자들은 생체신호 또는 생리적 측정치들을 지능의 새로운 측정치로서 제안하고 있는데, 이들의 기본 가정은 현재의 지능검사는 교육, 가정의 양육태도, 부모의 사회경제적 지위와 같은 문화적 요인에 의해 크게 좌우되므로 지능의 편파적인 측정치가 될 수밖에 없고, 이러만 요인에 가장 적게 영향받는 생리적 측정치만이 순수한 지능 즉정치가 될 수 있다는 것이다. 따라서, 본 연구는 이러한 생리적 신호들 중 EOG(electro-oculograph)를 이용하여 안구의 움직임을 기록함으로서 피검자의 문제해결을 위한 집중력과 이해력 등을 알아보고자 하였다. 또한, 피검자의 정보처리과정을 알아보기 위해 반응시간(RT, reaction time)을 측정하였다. 17명의 건강한 남녀 학생들이 실험에 참여하였으며, 첫단계로 Raven's Advanced Matrices 검사와 IQ 검사를 실시하고, 검사 결과에 근거하여 각각을 세 그룹으로 나누었다. 두번째 단계로는 슬라이드로 제작된 도형유추과제를 푸는 동안 EOG와 RT를 측정하였다. IQ 검사 점수, RT, 그리고 EOG로부터 추출된 변수들 간의 상관관계를 구하기 위해 GLM(general linear model) 및 Duncan's multiple range test를 위한 통계분석을 수행하였다. 분석결과를 통하여 도형유추과제의 난이도가 높을수록 EOG변수들에 의한 지능점수의 분류능력이 높음을 알 수 있었으며, Raven그룹보다는 IQ그룹에 대한 분류가 더욱 잘 이루어졌음을 발견하였다. 그리고, RT는 Raven그룹과 IQ그룹 모두에서 높은 변별력을 나타내고 있음을 확인하였다.

  • License mechanisms are the key elements in almost all DRM(digital rights management) systems. The license mechanisms are designed for the clear identification and enforcement of contents, principals, and usage rules in DRM systems. But current license mechanisms are lacking in the flexibility for the secure and efficient sharing of the contents among the members of a group such as a family or a part of an enterprise. This paper suggests a new license mechanism for efficient and secure sharing of contents in DRM systems among the members of a group. We named it member/group license mechanism. The mechanism extends the current license mechanisms by introducing new concepts such as group licenses, member licenses, and derivation relationships between licenses.

Identification of Korean Mountain Cultivated Ginseng by RAPD (RAPD(Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA)를 이용한 장뇌삼의 지역별 품종 구분)

  • This study was conducted to examine the genetic variations and intraspecific relationships between 9 individuals of Panax ginseng C.A Meyer by using RAPD (Randomly Amplified Polymorphic DNA) analysis. The 34 primers out of 40 random primers were amplified for all tested plants. The 48 (40%) among 244 bands derived from 34 primers shown polymorphism, and the 72 (64%) rest of bands showed similar forms. By regional groups Sangju and Andong samples located in Kyungsang buk-do showed a high similarity. However, Punggi located in Kyungsang buk-do showed higher similarity with Jinan's of Junla buk-do. In this way, it did not show that Panax ginseng from the same area has similarities. In future study we need to more specific molecular phylogenetic analysis such as AFLP technology and gene sequencing with nuclear chloroplast DNA in all samples.

  • We obtained medical test data of 150 male from National Health Insurance Corporation, that included physique, blood chemistry, and lifestyle. ${\chi}^2-test$ and logistic regression, and multiple regression were done to verify how CAD risks and/or lifestyle are different between obese and non-obese person. SPSS(version 18) was used for statistical procedures and p-value of .05 was regarded as good through. ${\chi}^2-test$ showed the frequency of hypertension, htperglycemia, hyperlipidemia were higher in obese person than in non-obese This result told us that lifestyle modification could be a key to prevent cardiovascular disease by controlling and managing body composition, especially abdominal obesity.

  • The latest several studies show that Wiki is a very efficient tools for collaborative learning in the distributed environments. Even though Wiki supports efficient knowledge sharing between group members, there are still some problems to be solved for collaborative learning. Since the structure of group contents becomes more complex and the links between pages are dynamically changed, each member of group has difficulties to perceive the changed contents and links on group pages. We designed the adaptive navigation system to guide individual browsing paths of each member through the calculating of friendship and the state of pages. At first we developed the relation model between member and each pages by the historical log that stored the change of pages and the activity of members, and then we implemented the adaptive navigation system using the model. Experimental results show that this adaptive system is very effective to share the group knowledge and to promote collaborative learning activities.

Effects of Intermittent Fasting and Thermotherapy on the Obese (온열과 간헐 단식요법의 병행이 인체의 비만에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of the study is to investigate the effectiveness of the concurrent thermotherapy and intermittent fasting therapy for obesity. The experimental therapy conducted at the same time for 11 days, and had 35 adult participants. Six variables(girth, body weight, body mass index, body fat ratio, abdominal fat, and body basal metabolic rate) of participants were measured initially before the experimental therapy, and respectively after two consecutive experimental therapies (S1 and S2). The differences between the averages of the six variables in the initial measurement (C group), S1 group, and S2 group are significant and correlate each other. The differences between variables also were significant within groups and between groups. Additionally, the results show that the effectiveness of the therapy was greater after the 2nd therapy than the 1st therapy. In conclusion, these findings suggest that the concurrent therapy is effective and useful as a natural healing therapy for obesity.

Exploring Users' Desired Emotion in Product Light Focusing on the Refrigerator (제품 조명에 기대하는 소구 감성 탐색: 냉장고 사례를 중심으로)

  • Despite the substantial changes made in the product design field to adopt light as an essential design element, there has been little effort to define how customers respond emotionally to the light design of products. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the emotional effect of light as a new design element. However, previous research focuses solely on deriving optimal lighting conditions to achieve particular emotional effects. Therefore, this paper investigates the customers' desired emotional effects of product's light design. We studied refrigerators that utilize light as the main design element of the product. We applied mixed methods by combining close-ended questions and open-ended question to efficiently derive the desired emotion. Participants were asked to choose the most favorable refrigerator image in each of the twelve image groups and indicate why they choose that image with the short-answer survey form. Approximately one thousand terms were collected, and those terms were classified into 29 groups using thesaurus relationships. The term groups were again classified into the four big emotion categories and labelled as "abstract quality," "light property," "space perception," and "visual comfort." Also, a model of the relationship between desired light style and light properties was proposed, since we observed the light properties related to three other categories. This study used mixed methods to identify the emotional value of a new design element. We suggest that the emotional categories derived and the proposed relationship model could be used to evaluate the product's light design.

Scalable Hierarchical Group Key Establishment using Diffie-Hallman Key Exchange (Diffie-Hallman 키 교환을 이용한 확장성을 가진 계층적 그룹키 설정 프로토콜)

  • The secure group communication enables the members, which belong to the same group, to communicate each other in a secure and secret manner. To do so, it is the most important that a group key is securely distributed among them and also group membership is efficiently managed. In detail, the generation, the distribution and the refreshment of a group key would be highly regarded in terms of low communication and computation complexity. In this paper, we show you a new protocol to generate a group key which will be safely shared within a group, utilizing the 2-party Diffie-Hellman key exchange protocol and the complete binary tree. Our protocol has less complexity of computation per group member by substituting many parts of exponentiation computations for multiplications. Consequently, each group member needs constant computations of exponentiation and multiplication regardless of the group size in the protocol and then it has less complexity of the computation than that of any other protocols.
