  • Adaptive anti-sway and trajectory tracking control of overhead crane is presented, which utilizes Fuzzy Uncertainty Observer(FUO) and Fuzzy based Variable Structure Control(FVSC). We consider an overhead crane system which can be decoupled into the actuated and unactuated subsystems with its own lumped uncertainty such as parameter uncertainties and external disturbance. First, a new method for anti-sway control using FVSC is proposed to improve the conventional method based on Lyapunov direct method, while a conventional trajectory tracking control law using feedback linearization is directly adopted. Second, FUO is designed to estimate one of the two lumped uncertainties which can compensate both of them, based on the fact that two lumped uncertainties are coupled with each other. Then, an adaptive anti-sway control is proposed by incorporating the proposed FVSC and FUO. Under the condition that the observation error is Uniformly Ultimately Bounded(UUB) within an arbitrarily shrinkable region, the overall closed-loop system is shown to be Globally Uniformly Ultimately Bounded(GUUB). In addition, the Global Asymptotic Stability(GAS) of it is shown under the vanishing disturbance assumption. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed scheme has been confirmed by numerical simulations.

  • In this paper, as an anti-sway control strategy of container cranes, we investigate a variable structure control in which the moving load follows a given trajectory, whereas both the trolley and hoist controllers achieve their positioning problems. It is crucial, in an automated container terminal, that collisions should be avoided during the transference of containers from one place to another. It is also necessary, in the case of a quay crane, to select suitable loading and unloading trajectories of containers, so that possible collisions with surrounding obstacles are avoided. After a brief introduction of the mathematical model, a robust control scheme (i.e., a second-order sliding mode control that guarantees a fast and precise transference and a suppression of the resulted swing) is presented. Despite model uncertainties and unmodeled actuators dynamics, the swing suppression from the given trajectory is obtained by constraining the system motion on suitable sliding surfaces, which include both the desired path and the swing angle. The proposed controller has been tested with a laboratory-size pilot crane. Experimental results are provided.

  • In this paper, we propose a trajectory tracking controller for a two-wheeled mobile robot (WMR) with nonholonomic constraints using a fuzzy sliding-mode controller-based hyperbolic function. The proposed controller is composed of two separate controllers. The sliding-mode controller is used for attitude control of the WMR, and the fuzzy controller-based hyperbolic function is designed to adjust the reach time of the sliding-mode control. Simulation results on a linear and a circular trajectory show that the proposed controller improves the control performance. The proposed controller reduces the reach time by as much as 47% compared to the controller proposed by Xie et al.

  • This paper has proposed a self-tuning controller for tracking reference trajectory by measuring End-point of arm on robot manipulator whose link is light and flexibls, and proved the perforformance of the algorithm proposed through the computer simulation. As an object of control, a flexible robot manipulator with two-links was selected. As for structure of model, it utilized an assume mode shape method with include travity force and derived a dynaics equation by adapting two kinds of vibration mode of each.

  • This paper presents an improved sliding mode controller design for induction motor. In place of the discontinuous control inputs, continuous inputs are proposed in order to remove the undesirable chattering phenomena, which represent major drawbacks of the sliding mode controller. The design strategy is illustrated with a microprocessor based implementation for the velocity control of an induction motor. An induction motor is operated under sling mode control such that the motor angular velocity follows a predetermined trajectory. The experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed method.

  • This paper presents a joint controller for a humanoid robot based on genetic algorithm. h humanoid robot has basically instability during walking because it isn't fixed on the ground. Moreover nonlinearities of the joints increase its instability. If one of them isn't satisfied, the robot may fall down at the ground during walking. To attack one of those problems, joint controller is proposed. It can perform tracking control preciously and reduce the effect of nonlinearities by gear, limitation of the input voltage, coulomb friction and so on. This controller is based on fuzzy-sliding mode controller (FSMC) and compensator and control gains are searched by a proposed genetic algorithm. It can reduce the effect by nonlinearities. Also, to improve the tracking performance, the proposed controller has motion controller. From the given controller, a humanoid robot can moved more preciously. Here, all the processes are investigated through simulations and it is verified experimentally in a real joint system for a humanoid robot.

  • In this paper, a guidance law applicable to aircraft automatic landing is proposed and its performance is compared with the conventional ILS-type landing approach. The concept of miss distance, which is commonly used in the missile guidance laws, and Lyapunov stability are effectively combined to obtain the landing guidance law. The new landing guidance law is integrated into the existing controller and is applied to the landing approach and flare phases of landing procedure. Numerical simulation results show that the new landing guidance law is a viable alternative to the conventional strategies that directly control the longitudinal deviation or altitude.

  • Model reference control is control method such that overall response of a plant plus controller approaches that of a given reference model. The reference model provides desired trajectory the plant should follow. There are many kinds of control methods in MRC. However, this paper focuses on Model Reference Sliding Mode Control. The plant of these controls is an uncertain and linear system varying in time, of second order, and with SISO. In this paper, a design scheme of reference model is proposed for MRSMC. The scheme determines reference model based on the information on bounded control inputs, reference inputs and system parameters. It is used to choose a Fixed Reference Model in the process of controller design, to update Variable Reference Model when stepwise reference inputs change and to update Instant Reference Model at every sampling time. The simulation results show that the proposed method yields better control performance than the conventional MRC subject to the stepwise reference input when applied to the position control system for motor system.
