The Effect of Thromboprophylaxis in Lower Extremity Arthroscopic Surgery on Coagulation Test : Enoxaparin versus Rivaroxaban (하지 관절경 수술에 대하여 시행된 항응고 요법에 의한 혈액 응고 검사의 변화 : Enoxaparin versus Rivaroxaban)

  • Purpose: To compare coagulation test results of the arthroscopic surgery patients who received thromboprophylaxis with typical two kinds of anticoagulation drugs, we performed coagulation tests before and after surgery with two groups and then compared the results. Materials and Methods: Forty-seven patients who underwent arthroscopic surgery were randomly divided into two groups to rivaroxaban and enoxaparin group, and we performed coagulation tests before and 5 days after arthroscopic surgery to two drugs groups in order to investigate about the difference in clotting capacity. Results: Preoperative coagulation tests did not differ significantly between the two groups. However, coagulation tests after 5 days of the surgery, the level of prothrombin time-international normalized ratio (PT-INR), activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) increased, particularly in patients with rivaroxaban compared with enoxaparin (P<0.05). Conclusion: Anticoagulation for arthroscopic surgery with a drug is effective and has safe range in terms of bleeding tendency, but in the rivaroxaban group, there was one patient who showed high bleeding tendency with abnormal range. Therefore it should be careful of using rivaroxaban for thromboprophylaxis.

Physicochemical and Sensory Properties of Baekseolgi Prepared with Different Combinations of Xylitol and Sucralose (자일리톨·수크랄로스 혼합 첨가 백설기의 이화학적·관능적 품질 특성)

  • In a previous study, baekseolgi with xylitol or sucralose was comparable to baekseolgi with sugar in terms of all sensory characteristics. However, the hardness of sucralose baekseolgi increased considerably during storage while that of xylitol baekseolgi remained unchanged. To improve the physical limitations observed in sucralose baekseolgi, a combination of sucralose and xylitol were substituted for sugar when preparing baekseolgi (SL0~SL100, SLn; baekseolgi where sugar was replaced with n% sucralose and 100-n% xylitol based on relative sweetness to sugar). All SLn baekseolgi samples were not significantly different from sugar baekseolgi in terms of sensory properties. The moisture content was not different between sugar and xylitol baekseolgi (SL0), but decreased significantly as the amount of sucralose increased (P<0.01), which correlated with cohesiveness of baekseolgi. Texture profile analysis revealed that hardness of SLn baekseolgi increased without any noticeable change in moisture content after storage at $4^{\circ}C$ for 7 days. In addition, the hardness after storage was the highest in sucralose baekseolgi (SL100), which was comparatively lower in SL0~SL80 containing xylitol presumably due to the hygroscopic characteristics of xylitol. In particular, SL20 was found to be comparable to sugar baekseolgi in terms of moisture and cohesiveness during storage. The results showed that the combination of xylitol and sucralose could be a potential sugar substitute in terms of not only sensory characteristics but also physicochemical properties.

Effects of Beverage Using Herbs on the Antimicrobial, Anticancer and Antiallergy Activities (약초 음료의 항균효과, 항암효과 및 알레르기 억제효과 검증)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of beverage (beverage HC and beverage PG) using herbs on antimicrobial activity, proliferation of hepatic cancer cell (Hep3B) lines and sarcoma 180 (S-180) and antiallergy, respectively. Beverage PG showed higher antimicrobial activity than beverage HC against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Beverage HC and PG showed the tumor suppressive effect in mice injected with S-180 cells. The growth-inhibitoy ratio against tumor cells were $66\%\;for\;10\%$ beverage HC, $61\%\;for\;10\%$ beverage PG. In an anti-cancer test using Hep3B cells, beverage PG showed higher anti-proliferating effect than beverage HC. Beverage PG showed growth-inhibitory effect of $69.2\%\;at\;100\%$ beverage PG. Beverage PG inhibited histamine release from rat peritoneal mast cells (RPMC) activated by compound 48/80. In conclusion, these results suggest that beverage using herbs have an antimicrobial activity, anti-proliferating effect against Hep3B cell and S-180 tumor and will be beneficial in treatment of allergic reaction.

Factors related to Suicide Ideation among Middle School Students (일부 중학생들의 자살생각 및 그의 관련요인)

  • This study was performed to determine the factors related to suicide ideation among some middle school students. A self-administered questionnaires survey was administered to 975 middle school students in Gyeongin area during the period from May 1st to June 30th, 2013. As a result, the suicide ideation of respondents turned out to be significantly higher in the following groups: females, experience of smoking, experience of alcohol drinking, of which the self-recognized body type was fatty, with out regular eating, poor subjective health status, poor home atmosphere, low family life satisfaction, lower school grade, poor relationship with friends, school violence experienced, school life dissatisfaction, severe hopelessness, severe distress, and depression. In particular, the factors related to hopelessness are strongly correlated with the suicide ideation.

Quality Characteristics of Cookies Made with Flaxseed Powder (아마씨 가루를 첨가한 쿠키의 품질특성)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the quality characteristics of cookies added with different levels of flaxseed powder. Cookies were prepared with four different levels (0%, 6%, 12% and 18%) of flaxseed powder and the physicochemical properties were examined. The pH of cookie dough was higher in cookies containing flaxseed powder. The spread factor of control cookie was lower than that of cookies containing 6%, 12% and 18% of flaxseed powder. The incorporation of flaxseed powder in cookies lowered lightness and yellowness but increased redness values. Rheology testing showed that cookies with 6%, 12% and 18% flaxseed powder had significantly lower hardness value than control cookies (p < 0.05). Consumer acceptance test revealed that overall preference score was the highest in cookies containing 12% flaxseed powder. During storage at $55^{\circ}C$ for 60 days, peroxide value increased until 30 days of storage and decreased thereafter, while acid value steadily increased and there was no significant difference in peroxide value and acid value between control cookies and flaxseed added cookies.

The Efficacy of Oral Low Molecular Weight Collagen Peptide for Skin Recovery after Fractional Photothermolysis Laser Treatment (Fractional Photothermolysis 치료 후 피부회복 촉진에 미치는 경구용 저분자 콜라겐 펩타이드의 효과)

  • Recent studies have revealed that collagen peptide plays a protective role on skin by improving the activity of antioxidants and acts as an inducer of skin regeneration. To evaluate the efficacy of low molecular weight collagen peptide for skin recovery after non-ablative 1550 nm fractional photothermolysis laser. 10 volunteers were randomly divided into two groups. Both control and experimental groups received fractional photothermolysis treatment. In the experimental group, 5 subjects received oral collagen peptide 1,000 mg/day for 8 weeks. Before and after the treatment, we measured elastic recovery of skin, transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and erythema index (EI) for each patients. The evaluation of clinical results showed that elastic recovery of skin is higher in the experimental group than the control group (p < 0.05). TEWL have no significancy between two groups and erythema rapidly disappeared in the experimental group. On the quartile grading scale, the mean patient satisfaction 4 weeks after the fractional photothermolysis treatment was 2.0 in experimental group and 1.2 in control group. The low molecular weight collagen peptide appears to be an effective conservative therapy for skin recovery after non-ablative 1550 nm fractional photothermolysis treatment.

Effect of the Addition of Surichwi on Quality Characteristics of Surichwijulpyurn (수리취 첨가량을 달리한 수리취 절편의 특성)

  • Hardness and elasticity for SurichwijuIPyun(Korean rice cake supplemented with Surichwi) made with various levels of Surichwi(O∼40%) boiled in 1% sodium bicarbonate added water were decreased by increasing additional rate of Surichwi, but adhesiveness and cohesiveness didn't show constant increase or decrease. Guminess and chewiness showed significant differences by decreasing additional rate of Surichwi. As a results of sensory evaluation of Surichwiiulpyun, Julpyun supplemented with 20fs Surichwi showed the most favorite tendency in color, flavor and overall acceptability. Textural characteristics of Surichwijulpyun supplemented with 20 and 30% Surichwi in storing at 20$^{\circ}C$ showed less change than those of 0 and loft group. Gumminess and chewiness showed similar trend to hardness, and there were significant differences in additional rate of Surichwi and storage time.

Improvement of Storage Stability of Apple and Kiwi at Room Temperature Using Pd/ZSM-5 Catalyst and Nonthermal Plasma (Pd/ZSM-5 촉매와 저온 플라즈마를 이용한 사과와 키위의 상온 저장 안정성 향상)

  • A catalyst-plasma reactor was applied to the storage of agricultural products, e.g., apple and kiwi, to remove the ethylene generated during the storage. Two 1-m3 unit containers were prepared, and the long-term storage stability of the control group at room temperature was compared with that of the experimental group of which the produced ethylene was treated by the catalyst-plasma reactor. In case of the experimental group, a small amount of ozone was injected to the unit container to suppress the growth of microorganisms such as mold. The apples and kiwis were stored at room temperature for 50 and 57 days, respectively, and the changes in ethylene concentration, hardness, sugar content, acidity, and loss rate were compared. The ethylene concentration during the storage for the control group was higher than that for the experimental group, indicating that the ethylene was effectively removed. Hardness, sugar content, and sugar acid ratio after the storage were better than before the storage, and in particular, the storage stability of kiwifruit was improved significantly. In addition, after the storage, the loss rates of apples and kiwis in the control group were 10 and 54.1%, respectively, but the loss rates in the experimental group were 6 and 34.8%, respectively. Therefore, the storage stability of the experimental group was a lot better than that of the control group.

  • The king-vassal-subject relation in neo-confucianism can be elucidated in their status context as well as in their communicative context. In their status context, there are two aspects of power such as sovereignty and rule. Chu-zhi thinks that subjects are nobler than king in the aspect of sovereignty, but the relation is reversed in the aspect of ruling power. These two relaitions are not contradictory, but compatible. When ruling power operates, he thinks, king, vassals and word-watching officials(諫官) must check each other. In their communicative context, there are theories of sympathy and public discourse. Sympathy consists of moral sympathy through virtue politics and emotional sympathy through enjoying together. Chu-zhi finds a theoretical basis of public discourse in the place where heavenly principle meets with human mind. Public discourse is to search for common good. Institutional arrangements for public discourse are the official's rights to open and free speech. He thinks that word-watching officials must be speech leaders.

Effects of $CV_{12}$ and $ST_{36}$ Acupuncture on Glucose Metabolism and Protection of Pancreatic Beta Cells in Neonatal-streptozotocin Model (중완과 족삼리 자침이 Neonatal-streptozotocin모델 실험동물에서 당대사 및 베타세포 보호작용에 미치는 영향)

  • 목적 : 중완과 족삼리 자침이 neonatal-streptozotocin 모델 실험동물에서 혈당과 베타세포 손상에 대한 보호효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 방법 : 비-비만 제2형 당뇨모델인 neonatal STZ 실험동물을 무처치 대조군, 임의혈 대조군, 중완 자침군, 족삼리 자침군으로 나누어 90일 동안 실험하였다. 체중과 혈당을 3일에 한 번씩 측정하였으며, 90일이 경과 후 혈중 인슐린을 측정하고 당부하 검사를 실시한 후 동물을 희생시켜 이자 조직을 적출하고 표본을 제작하였다. 면역세포화학법을 통하여 이자의 베타세포 손상에 대한 세포보호효과를 관찰하였다. 결과 : 중완 자침군과 족삼리 자침군은 대조군에 비해 유의한 혈당 강하 효과가 관찰되었다. 인슐린 농도는 모든 군에서 상승하였으며 당부하 검사에서는 임의혈 자침군과 중완 자침군 및 족삼리 자침군에서 내당능이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 조직 검사에서는 무처치 대조군과 임의혈 대조군에서는 베타세포 손상이 심했으나, 중완 자침군과 족삼리 자침군에서는 베타세포 손상에 대한 세포보호 효과가 현저하게 관찰되었다. 결론 : 중완과 족삼리 자침은 비-비만 제2형 당뇨모델에서 손상된 베타세포를 회복하고 인슐린 분비를 촉진하여 혈당을 강하시키는 효과가 있는 것으로 사료된다.
