Painterly animation is a method that expresses painterly images with a hand-painted appearance from a video, and the most crucial element for it is the temporal coherence of brush strokes between frames. A motion map is proposed in this paper as a solution to the issue of maintaining the temporal coherence in the brush strokes between the frames. A motion map is the region that frame-to-frame motions have occurred. Namely, this map refers to the region frame-to-frame edges move by the motion information with the motion occurred edges as a starting point. In this paper, we employ the optical flow method and block-based method to estimate the motion information. The method that yielded the biggest PSNR using the motion information (the directions and magnitudes) acquired by various methods of motion estimation has been chosen as the final motion information to form a motion map. The created motion map determine the part of the frame that should be re-painted. In order to express painterly images with a hand- painted appearance and maintain the temporal coherence of brush strokes, the motion information was applied to only the strong edges that determine the directions of the brush strokes. Also, this paper seek to reduce the flickering phenomenon between the frames by using the multiple exposure method and the difference map created by the difference between images of the source and the canvas. Maintenance of the coherence in the direction of the brush strokes was also attempted by a local gradient interpolation to maintain the structural coherence.
This paper proposes a method to trace and interpret a moving object based on the information which can be directly obtained from MPEG-2 compressed video stream without decoding process. In the proposed method, the motion flow is constructed from the motion vectors included in compressed video. We calculate the amount of pan, tilt, and zoom associated with camera operations using generalized Hough transform. The local object motion can be extracted from the motion flow after the compensation with the parameters related to the global camera motion. Initially, a moving object to be traced is designated by user via bounding box. After then automatic tracking Is performed based on the accumulated motion flows according to the area contributions. Also, in order to reduce the cumulative tracking error, the object area is reshaped in the first I-frame of a GOP by matching the DCT coefficients. The proposed method can improve the computation speed because the information can be directly obtained from the MPEG-2 compressed video, but the object boundary is limited by macro-blocks rather than pixels. Also, the proposed method is proper for approximate object tracking rather than accurate tracing of an object because of limited information available in the compressed video data.

With the recent outstanding advance in computer software and hardware, a number of researches to enhance the manufacturing speed and the process accuracy has been undertaken in many fields of textile industry. Frequently issued problems of automatic recognition of textile wrinkles in a grey scale image are as follows. First, changes in grey level intensity of wrinkles are so minute. Second, as both colors and patterns in a grey scale image appear in grey level intensity, it is difficult to sort out the wrinkle information only. Third, it is also difficult to distinguish grey level intensity changed by wrinkles from those by uneven illumination. This paper suggests a method of automatic recognition of textile wrinkles that can solve above problems concerned with wrinkles, which can be raised in a manufacturing process as one of errors. In this paper, we first make the outline of wrinkles distinctly, apply the block matching algorithm used in motion estimation, and then estimate block locations of target images corresponding to blocks of standard images with the assumption that wrinkles are kind of textile distortions caused by directional forces. We plot a "wrinkle map" considering distances between wrinkles as depths of wrinkles. But because mismatch can occur by different illumination intensity and changes in tensions and directions of the force, there are also undesirable patterns in the map. Post processing is needed to filter them out and get wrinkles information only. We use average grey level intensity of wrinkle map to recognize wrinkles. When it comes to textile with colors and patterns, previous researches on wrinkles in grey scale image hasn't been successful. But we make it possible by considering wrinkles as distortion.istortion.

In this paper, a CMOS baseband analog receiver for wireless home network is discussed. It is composed of a Gilbert type mixer, an Elliptic 6th order 1ow pass filter, and a 6-bit A/D converter. The main role of the mixer is generating a mixed analog signal between the 200MHz output signal of CMOS RF stage and the 199MHz local oscillator. After the undesired high frequency component of the mixed signal comes out. Finally, the analog signal is converted into digital code at the 6-bit A/D converter, The proposed receiver is fabricated with 0.25${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ 1-poly 5-metal CMOS technology, and the chip area is 200${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ X1400${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. the receiver consumes 130㎽ at 2.5V power supply.
Pre-proposed AHHS(Adaptive Hierarchical Hexagon Search) is a kind of the fast hierarchical block matching algorithm based on the AHS(Adaptive Hexagon Search). It is characterized as keeping the merits of the AHS capable of fast estimating motion vectors and also adaptively reducing the local minima often occurred in the video sequences with higher spatio-temporal motion activity. The objective of this paper is to propose the method effectively extending the horizontal biased pattern and the vertical biased pattern of the AHHS to improve its predictive image quality. In the paper, based on computer simulation results for multiple video sequences with different motion characteristics, the performance of the proposed method was analysed and assessed in terms of the predictive image quality and the computational time. The simulation results indicated that the proposed method was both suitable for (quasi-) stationary and large motion searches. While the proposed method increased the computational load on the process extending the hexagon search patterns, it could improve the predictive image quality so as to cancel out the increase of the computational load.
The collapsed cases are more and more increasing at the large scaled structures because of increasing of the risk due to natural disasters. The measuring instrument such as inclinometer, total station on reinforced-soil retaining wall has been used that displacement, settlement for stability assessment, maintenance and management of it. But because these has gotten many instability measuring factors for stability analysis of RRW, new system needs to complement disadvantage of existing system. In this study, we considered a application of Visual Monitoring System (VMS) to measure a displacement in face of wall through Lab. test about block assembly of segmental retaining wall during load test.

A discrete dynamic model for tracking feature points in 2D images is developed. Conventional snake approaches deform a contour to lock onto features of interest within an image by finding a minimum of its energy functional, composed of internal and external forces. The neighborhood around center snaxel is a space matrix, typically rectangular. The structure of the model proposed in this paper is a set of connected vertices. Energy model is designed for its local minima to comprise the set of alternative solutions available to active process. Block on tracking is one dimension, line type. Initial starting points are defined to the satisfaction of indent states, which is then automatically modified by an energy minimizing process. The track is influenced by curvature constraints, ascent/descent or upper/lower points. The advantages and effectiveness of this layer approach may also be applied to feature points tracking of digital image whose pixels have one directional properties with high autocorrelation between adjacent data lines, vertically or horizontally. The test image is the ultrasonic carotid artery image of human body, and we have verified its effect on intima/adventitia starting points tracking.

Cellular Neural Networks(CNN) is a nonlinear information-processing system that has a locally connected characteristic and is widely used in the real-time high speed image processing. In this paper, a practical system approach of time-multiplexing CNN implementations suitable for processing large and complex images using small CNN arrays is presented and $6\times6$ CNN hardware is designed for the processing of a large image. While previous implementations are mostly suitable for black and white applications because of the thresholded outputs, our approach is especially suitable for applications in gray image processing due to the analog nature of the state node. CNN chip is designed using a 0.65${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ 2P2M(double poly, double metal) N-Well CMOS process technology. It contains about 15,400 devices on an area of about $1.85\times1.75$ md. The designed $6\times6$ CNN is tested for the edge detection of a large image input and it's performance is verified.

In this paper, we propose an region segmentation and texture based feature extraction method which split the pavement and roadway from the camera which equipped to the visually impaired person during a walk. We perform the hough transformation method for detect the boundary between pavement and roadway, and devide the segmented region into 3-level according to perspective. Next step, split into pavement and roadway according to the extracted texture feature of segmented regions. Our walking assistance system use rotation-invariant LBP and GLCM texture features for compare the characteristic of pavement block with various pattern and uniformity roadway. Our proposed method show that can segment two regions with illumination invariant in day and night image, and split there regions rotation and occlution invariant in complexed outdoor image.
This study investigates a failure mechanism of a tunnel shotcrete lining with respect to a concentrated load due to blocky rock mass. First of all, it is carried out to survey relevant researches to shotcrete failures by literature reviews and to numerically re-investigate the failure modes of shotcrete lining given by previous researches. Through this study, the failure modes are relocated with the conditions which induce each failure mode newly proposed by this study. In addition to this, the arching shape of tunnel lining, which has not been considered in the previous research despite of inherent geometrical characteristics in tunnels, is taken into consideration in numerical investigation on lining failure in this study. As a result, it is shown that more simplified failure modes can be found on the tunnel boundary condition and the corresponding failure condition to each mode can be different from ones of the previous study due to a tunnel arching effect.
