Vibro-acoustic Characteristics of an Automotive Brake Drum (자동차용 브레이크 드럼의 구조-음향 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigates the vibro-acoustic characteristics of an automotive brake drum given free boundaries using the hybrid approach combining numerically obtained structural properties with analytical solution for acoustic radiation. Structural vibrations of the drum are investigated with the finite element method, and modal displacements on the outer surfaces of the drum are idealized as simple mathematical expressions. Based on the expressions, modal sound radiations of the drum are calculated using the Rayleigh integral method. Structural and acoustic responses of the drum for a harmonic excitation are obtained from above results using the modal expansion technique. The results are confirmed with numerical analyses using the boundary element method. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the vibro-acoustic characteristics of a brake drum can be accurately investigated with the process used in this study. Also, many noise and vibration problems in drum brake can be addressed using the procedure proposed in this study.

Sound Radiation Analysis for Structural Vibration Noise Control of Tire Under the Action of Random Moving Line Forces (불규칙 이동분포하중을 받는 타이어의 구조 진동 소음 제어를 위한 음향방사 해석)

  • A theoretical model has been studied to describe the sound radiation analysis for structural vibration noise control of tire under the action of random moving line forces. When a tire is analyzed, it has been modeled as a curved beam with distributed springs and dash-pots which represent the radial, tangential stiffness and damping of tire, respectively. The reaction due to fluid loading on the vibratory response of the curved beam is taken into account. The curved beam is assumed to occupy the plane y = 0 and to be axially infinite. The material of curved beam and elastic foundation are assumed to be lossless, and governed by the law of Bernoulli-Euler beam theory. The expression for sound power is integrated numerically and its results examined as a function of Mach number(M), wavenumber ratio(.gamma.) and stiffness factor(.PSI.). The experimental investigation for structural vibration noise of tire under the action of random moving line forces has been made. Based on the STSF(Spatial Transformation of Sound Field) techniques, the sound power and sound radiation are measured. The experimental results show that operating condition, material properties and design factors of the tire have a great effect on the sound power and sound radiation characteristics.

  • There are many industrial applications including thin-body structures such as fins. For the numerical modeling of radiation of sound from thin bodies, the conventional boundary element method (BEM) using the Helmholtz integral equation fails to yield a reliable solution. Therefore, many researchers have tried to solve the thin-body acoustic problems. In the area of the design sensitivity analysis (DSA) and optimization methods, however, there has been just a few study reported. Especially fur the thin-body acoustics, however, no further study in the DSA and optimization fields has been reported. In this research, the normal derivative integral equation is adopted as an analysis formulation in the thin-body acoustics, and then used for the sizing DSA and optimization. Since the gradient-based method is used for the optimization, it is important to have accurate gradients (design sensitivities) of the objective function and constraints with respect to the design variables. The DSA formulations are derived through chain-ruled derivatives using the finite element method (FEM) and BEM by using the direct differentiation and continuum variation concepts. The proposed approaches are implemented and validated using a numerical example.

  • Although the holes on the shell case are very important fer the acoustic performance, it is difficult to solve the problem because the case includes thin bodies. Hence, in the past, only the method of trial and error, which depends on the engineer's intuition and experience, was available fur the design of holes. Many researchers have tried to solve the thin-body acoustic problems, since the conventional boundary element method (BEM ) using the Helmholtz integral equation fails to yield a reliable solution fer the numerical modelling of radiation anti scattering of sound from thin bodies. In the area of the analysis of thin-body acoustic problem, three approaches are generally used; the multi-domain BEM, the indirect variational BEM, and the normal derivative integral equation And there has been just a f9w study reported on the design optimization for the acoustic radiation problems by using only the conventional BEM. For the thin-body acoustics, however, no further study in the optimization fields has been reported. In this research, the normal derivative integral equation is adopted as an analysis formulation in the thin-body acoustics, and then used fur the optimization. The analytical approaches for the design of holes are proposed by using a topology optimization technique and a genetic algorithm. The proposed approaches are implemented and validated using numerical examples.

  • Vehicle CAE models for NVH predictions are largely developed in two schemes. One is FE models generally used for below 200 Hz problems such as booming noise, and the other is SEA models for high frequencies of more than 1 kHz, representatively related to sound packages. HMC has tried to develop a CAE model for 200-1000 Hz, so-called mid-frequency region, and this paper is one of the corresponding results. The CAE model is developed based on an FE model, and then FE elements at some areas are substituted with SEA elements to reduce DOFs. SEA panels are described by modal density, radiation efficiency, stiffness and damping characteristics that are found from some numerical assessments. Sound packages are modeled similarly as a conventional SEA model. The CAE model developed in this manner, the hybrid model, was compared to experimental results. Predicted pressure and vibrational velo city generally show a good agreement. The developed CAE model and related technology are successfully being used in vehicle development process.

  • In this paper, experiences obtained during the development of MASS(Noise Analysis of Ship-board using SEA) are described. The results are summarized as follows. (1) The modelling techniques for ship structure and cabins are suggested. (2) Structureborne and airborne noise for a real ship were measured at sea trial and predicted by NASS. The differences between the two values are acceptably small for the cabins located on higher decks, although problems related with modelling of lower decks and evaluation of radiation efficiency were found.

  • 분류가 모서리에 충돌할 때 발생하는 순음성 소리인 쐐기소리(edgetone)는 공력음향의 대표적인 현상으로서 지금까지 수많은 연구가 있어 왔으며 그 대부분의 특성이 규명되었다고 할 수 있다. 쐐기소리의 발생기구인 되먹임(feedback) 이론을 처음으로 제안한 이는 Powell로서 그는 되먹임사이클의 위상조건에 의하여 주파수특성에 관한 모델을 제안하였으며, 최근 그 모델의 위상인자에 관하여 Kwon은 새로운 값을 제안한 바 있다. 그런데, 쐐기소리의 이론은 주로 분류가 쐐기나 벽에 충돌할 경우에 집중되어 왔으며 분류가 원통에 충돌하여 발생하는 경우에 관한 연구는 Krothapalli의 초음속분류에 관한 연구와 Mochizuki등의 아음속분류에서 원통지름의 영향에 관한 연구를 들 수 있을 뿐이다. Mochizuki등은 원통의 지름이 노즐의 높이보다 작은 경우에 쐐기 소리의 주파수가 원통의 와류이탈(vortex shedding) 주파수와 같은 것을 관찰하였다. 그러나 분류와 원통이 작용하여 발생하는 쐐기소리의 주파수 특성에 관한 이론적 해석을 시도한 연구는 없으며 또한 방사음장의 특성에 관하여도 Han과 Kwon에 의한 모델이 발표된 바 있으나 실험적으로 입증되지 못하였다. 따라서, 본 연구의 목적은 2 fig.1과 같이 2차원 분류가 원통에 충돌할 때 발생하는 쐐기소리의 주파수특성의 정량적인 모델을 세우고 방사음장의 지향특성의 이론 모델을 확립하는 것이다. 먼저 주파수특성을 실험하고 되먹임이론을 적용하여 분석하므로써 유효음원의 위치를 구하고 또한, 수직벽에 작용하여 발생하는 충돌음(impinging tone)의 경우를 실험하여 주파수특성을 비교 고찰하므로써 유효음원의 위치에 관한 이론을 입증한다. 아울러 원통과 평면벽의 각 경우에 방사음장의 지향특성을 측정하고 고찰한다.2,5,6]을 단계별로 고찰하여, 점점 까다로워져 가는 선박 진동규제[3,4]에 대처하고 승무원의 안락성에 대한 욕구, 구조물의 안전성, 장비의 성능보존이 만족되는 저진동 선박의 건조를 위해 향후 해결해야할 과제들을 도출하여 선박진동분야이 연구개발 방향을 제시하고자 한다. 하는 것은 진단의 정밀도에 문제가 있을 것으로 생각된다. 따라서 언어적진리치가 도입되어 [상당히 확실], [확실], [약간 확실] 등의 언어적인 표현을 이용하여 애매성을 표현하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 간이진단 결과로부터 추출된 애매한 진단결과중에서 가장 가능성이 높은 이상원인을 복수로 선정하고, 여러 종류의 수치화할 수 없는 언어적(linguistic)인 정보ㄷㄹ을 if-then 형식의 퍼지추론으로 종합하는 회전기계의 이상진단을 위한 정밀진단 알고리즘을 제안하고 그 유용성을 검토한다. 존재하여도 모우드 변수들을 항상 정확하게 구할 수 있으며, 또한 알고리즘의 안정성이 보장된 것이다.. 여기서는 실험실 수준의 평 판모델을 제작하고 실제 현장에서 이루어질 수 있는 진동제어 구조물에 대 한 동적실험 및 FRS를 수행하는 과정과 동일하게 따름으로써 실제 발생할 수 있는 오차나 error를 실험실내의 차원에서 파악하여 진동원을 있는 구조 물에 대한 진동제어기술을 보유하고자 한다. 이용한 해마의 부피측정은 해마경화증 환자의 진단에 있어 육안적인 MR 진단이 어려운 제한된 경우에만 실제적 도움을 줄 수 있는 보조적인 방법으로 생각된다.ofile whereas relaxivity at high field is not affected by τS.   • Low frequency noises (up to about 200 Hz) mainly occur due to particular modes, resulting in booming noises, and in general the solutions may be found based on mode controls where conventional methods such as FEM can be used. However, at higher frequencies between 0.3~ 1 kHz, as the number of modes rapidly increase, radiation characteristics from structures, performances of damping sheets and sound packages may be more crucial rather than particular modes, and consequently the conventional FEM may be less practical in dealing with this kinds of structure-borne problems. In this context, so-called 'mid-frequency simulation model' based on FE-SEA hybrid method is studied and validated. Energy Transmission loss (i.e. air borne noise) is also studied. A dash panel component is chosen for this study, which is an important path that transfers both structure-borne and air borne energies into the cavity. Design modifications including structural modifications, attachment of damping sheets and application of different sound packages are taken into account and the corresponding noise characteristics are experimentally identified. It is found that the dash member behaves as a noise path. The damping sheet or sound packages have similar influences on both sound radiation and transmission loss. The comparison between experiments and simulations shows that this model could be used to predict the tendency of noise improvement.

A Parameter Study on the Frequency Characteristics of the Structural-acoustic Coupled System (구조-음향 연성계의 경계값 변화에 따른 방사음 변화)

  • It is well known that wall impedance essentially determines how sound wave transmits from one place to another. The wall impedance is related with its dynamic properties : for example, the mass, stiffness, and damping characteristics. It is noteworthy, however, that the wall impedance is also function of spatial characteristics of two spaces that is separated by the wall. This is often referred that the wall is not locally reacting. In this paper, we have attempted to see how the acoustic characteristics of the two spaces is affected by various structure parameters such as density, applied tension, and a normalized length of the wall. Calculations are conducted for two different modally reacting boundary conditions by modal expansion method. The variation of the Helmholtz mode and the structural-dominated mode are analyzed as the structure parameters vary. The displacement distribution of the structure, pressure and active intensity of the inside and outside cavity are presented at the Helmholtz mode and the structure-dominated mode. It is shown that the frequency characteristics are governed by both structure-and fluid-dominated mode. The results exhibit that the density of the structure is the most sensitive design parameter on the frequency characteristics for the coupling system as we could imagine in the beginning. The Helmholtz mode frequency decrease as density increases. However. it increases as applied tension and an opening size increase. The bandwidth of the Helmholtz mode is mainly affected by density of the structure and its opening size.
