Collapse Prevention Method of Long-span Plastic Greenhouse for Heavy Snow (장스팬 비닐하우스의 폭설에 의한 붕괴방지법 연구)

  • The cases of collapse of greenhouses in rural areas have been increasing due to the unexpected heavy snow load. Studies on how to prevent the collapse of greenhouses are rare, however, and the damages are repeated annually. This studysuggests two reinforcing methods: the use of ahigh-strength tapered module, and the addition of a pre-tension tie. The high-strength tapered section is installed where the bending moment is maximum. The design of a plastic greenhouse is controlled by its strength rather than its deflection. The shape of a greenhouse resembles that of an arch system, but its actual structural behavior is the frame behavior, because it is non-continually composed of a curved element (a beam) and vertical elements (columns). This system is too weak and slender to resist a vertical load, because an external load is resisted by the moment rather than by axial force. In this study, a new method, the installation of a temporary tie at the junction of the arch and the column only during snow accumulation, is proposed. The tie changes the action of the greenhouse frame to an arch action. The arch action is more effective when the pre-tension force is applied in the tie, which results in a very strong temporary structural system during snowfall. As a result of using this high-strength tapered section, the combined strength ratio of what? decreased from 10% to 30%. In the case of the additional reinforcement with a tie, it was reduced by half.

Current status and prospects to identify mutations responsible for mutant phenotypes by using NGS technology (NGS 기술 활용 돌연변이체 해석 및 연구현황)

  • Next-generation sequencing allows the identification of mutations responsible for mutant phenotypes by whole-genome resequencing and alignment to a reference genome. However, when the resequenced cultivar/line displays significant structural variation from the reference genome, mutations in the genome regions absent in the reference cannot be identified by simple alignment. In this review, we report the current status and prospects in identification of genes in mutant phenotypes, by using the methods MutMap, MutMap-Gap, and MutMap+. These methods delineate a candidate region harboring a mutation of interest, followed by de novo assembly, alignment, and identification of the mutation within genome gaps. These methods are likely to prove useful for cloning genes that exhibit significant structural variations, such as disease resistance genes of the nucleotide-binding site-leucine rich repeat (NBS-LRR) class.

  • This study has examined the structural relationship among factors related to the effects of flipped learning using the structural equation modeling. Two hundred thirty-six middle school and high school students were participated in this study. This study's results are as follows. First, looking through how much the flipped learning variables affect achievement, motivation affects achievement the most, and then interaction, participation come next. Second, looking through how much the flipped learning variables affect personality, interaction affect personality the most, and then teaching attitudes come next. Third, as a result of verifying the research model, the hypothetical model indicating relationship among motivation, participation, teaching attitudes, interaction and achievement, personality is valid.

  • Bacteriophage P4 ost2 which is the P4 mutant suppressing sir mutations of Bacteriophage P2, was isolated as a plaque-former by plating P4 ash8 sid 71 kmr intS on the lawn of P2 sir3 lysogen. P4 ost2 turned out to be the P4 mutant suppressing sir mutations of P2 in one-step growth experiments.

Genetic variation in populations of the Korean endemic Eranthis byunsanensis (Ranunculaceae) (한국 특산식물 변산바람꽃(Eranthis byunsanensis)의 유전적 변이)

  • The genetic variation in populations of Eranthis byunsanensis, an endemic and rare species of Korea, was studied using starch gel electrophoresis. All five known populations were sampled for allozyme electrophoresis of nine enzymes coded by 10 loci. The overall genetic variation of E. byunsanensis population was shown to be considerably high within the populations (A = 2.4, P = 90.0, $H_E$ = 0.311). A positive $F_{IS}$ value of E. byunsanensis indicated an overall deficiency of heterozygotes, and a low $F_{ST}$ value (0.131) showed little differentiation among populations. The high genetic variation, less genetic differentiation among populations, and a significant amount of heterozygote deficiency propose the hypothesis that they have an experience of recent isolation and fragmentation of their habitat. Thus, the rate of gene flow has been drastically reduced, and the rate of inbreeding in E. byunsanensis populations has increased. Current habitats in Mai-san and Naro-do are vulnerable due to their small population size and the levels of anthropogenic activity in the region constantly threatening survival of this species. Because of the high genetic variation and low levels of differentiation among populations in E. byunsanensis, it is not issue which populations have a priority for protection, but we may concern the plan to maintain population continuously and diminish the rate of inbreeding.

  • The structural basis of Iysine specificity of Achromobacter protease I (API) was investigated by means of site-directed mutagenesis. The precursor protein in which Glu190, one of the two candidates for determining Iysine specificity, was substituted by glutamine, aspartic acid or leucine was processed autocatalytically to attaln full pretense activity with lysine specificity. The substitution of the other candidate, Asp225, for asparagine or leucine produced no mature active forms of pro-API. The precursor protein of the mutant D225E slowly matured autocatalytically. The lysylendopeptidase activity of the mature D225E was 0.25% of that of native API, and this reduced activity is mainly due to a decrease in the affinity of the enzyme for lysine. These results suggest that Asp225 plays a critical rol in restricted substrate specificity as a lysylendopeptidase. However, D225E exhibited no measurable activity for synthetic ornithine substrate. Since the hydroxyl group of Ser194 in this mutant retained essentially the same reactivity to DFP or PMSF as that in native API, it can be noted that a methylene unit longer side chain of residue 225 is not compensated by a methylene unit shorter side chain at subsite P1 in the bound substrate.

Free Vibration Analysis of Curved Beams with Varying Cross-Section (단면적이 변하는 곡선보의 진동해석)

  • The differential quadrature method(DQM) is applied to the free in-plane vibration analysis of circular curved beams with varying cross-section neglecting transverse shearing deformation. Natural frequencies are calculated for the beams with various opening angles and end conditions. Results obtained by the DQM are compared with available results by other methods in the literature. It is found that the DQM gives good accuracy even with a small number of grid points. In addition, the corrected results are given for the beams not previously presented for this problem.

  • 현재 산업에서 상압 플라즈마는 생물의학, 표면처리, 용접 및 절단, 화학적 오염제거 등 여러 분야에서 각광받고 있으며 그 잠재력 또한 매우 크다. 통상적으로 글로우 방전은 생물의학, 표면처리, 화학적 오염제거 등에 주로 쓰이고 아크 방전은 용접 및 절단에 응용된다. 이처럼 상압 플라즈마는 여러 가지 방전으로 분류되고 그 특성에 맞게 응용되고 있는데 이러한 산업 여러 분야에 적절히 응용하기 위해서는 각 플라즈마에 대한 진단과 특성 분석이 선행적으로 이루어져야 한다. 또한, 전원회로의 특성에 따라 플라즈마 특성에 어떤 영향을 미치는지에 대한 연구도 매우 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 침 대 면 전극구조에서 고전압 dc전원이 RC시정수에 따라 repetition frequency가 변하는 전원 회로의 여러 parameter에 따라 스트리머-스파크 방전의 전기적 특성이 어떻게 변하는지 연구한다. 또한, 시뮬레이션을 통해 실험에 대한 예측, 비교를 목표로 한다.

한국어의 운율구조와 통사-의미구조와의 관계

  • 문장을 이루는 문장 구성성분 사이에는 다른 정도의 운율적 친밀성 (운율적 구성성분관계)와 상대적이며 계층적인 운율적 강도관계가 존재하며, 이를 바탕으로 문장의 운율구조를 세울 수 있으며, 운율구조는 나무그림으로 나타내는 것이 가장 효과적이다. 운율구조는 대응하는 통사구조가 보여주는 통사적 구성성분 관계 (constituency)와 계층적 지배관계와 대부분 일치하지 않지만, 문장의 운율구조는 먼저 구단위로 운율구조를 부과하고, 그 다음 단계에서 각 구들의 운율구조를 연결하여 완성해야 하며, 통사구조가 같은 구(phrase)도 구성요소들 사이에 존재하는 의미구조의 차이에 의해서 다른 운율구조를 가질 수도 있다. 그리고 문장의 일부만이 초점을 받으면, 초점받은 부분이 가장 강한 운율강도를 갖게되어 전체초점을 받을 때의 운율적 구성성분 관계와 계층적인 운율적 강도관계가 변할 수 있다.

  • For some applications, the computational structure changes dynamically during the program execution. When this happens, static partitioning and allocation of tasks are not enough to achieve high performance in parallel computers. In this paper, we propose a dynamic load balancing algorithm efficiently distributes the computation with dynamically growing tree structure to processors. We present an implementation technique for the algorithm on mesh architectures, and analyze its complexity. We also demonstrate through experiments how our algorithm provides good quality solutions.
