3D Reconstruction of Internal Zonation in Zircon (저어콘의 내부 누대구조의 3차원적 복원기법)

  • A series of the planar cathodoluminescence (CL) and backscattered-electron (BSE) images of magmatic zircon from the Paleozoic Yeongdeok pluton in the southeastern Korean Peninsula were taken using a scanning electron microscope for a 3D reconstruction of internal zonation of zircon. Seven zircon crystals mounted in epoxy were serially polished with average $3{\mu}m$ thickness to their disappearance. Their 3D reconstruction of zonation was performed using the Volume Viewer function in the ImageJ software. The 3D oscillatory zoning pattern of zircon was apparently shown in all the analyzed crystals. This method can further be applied to zircon crystals of multiple growth histories as well as other geological materials.

  • This article is concerned with exploring labour market transformation in newspaper industry and thereby looking into skill formation and professionalization of journalists. In Korea, according to previous research, newspaper journalist labour market had been characterized by a low inter-firm mobility of workers and patterns of long-term employment and firm-based skill training. However, over the past few years, as new product strategies of newspaper firms has changed due to management crisis employers pull back from the responsibilities of investment on skill training and securing job stability for journalists. However, in spite of overall weakened firm-based skill formation systems within the market, there still seems to be long way to build alternative systems of skill developments for them. As a result, it will be argued that, in the absence of manifest labor market institutions such as apprenticeships or skill certification system, which are assumed to traditionally certify workers' professionalization, occupational identity and professionality of newspaper journalist labour market will be weakened. Labor market data from interviews with journalists in the newspaper industry are used in order to test this hypothesis.

  • 자기공명영상 (MRI)기법은 최근에 그의 이용 분야가 식품공학 및 농학 분야까지 확대되고 있다. 이 연구에서는 MRI의 기본 원리를 알아보고 어떤 요인들이 자기공명영상의 명암을 결정하는지 알아 보았다. MRI를 이용하여 비파괴적인 방법으로 농축산물의 내부 구조 영상을 얻고 이로부터 토마토의 내부 공동, 감자의 공동병, 사과와 파파야의 멍, 버찌씨의 유무, 망고와 감자의 벌레에 의한 손상, 망고와 마늘의 내부 결함, 키위의 성숙도에 따른 변화, 그리고 소고기의 내부 구조 둥을 판별할 수 있음을 알아 보았으며 농축산물의 품질을 결정짓는 이러한 내부 요인들이 어떻게 자기공명영상을 형성하는지 알아 보았다. 대상 시료에 따라 적당한 자기공명영상 인자(TR과 TE)를 선택하여야 한다. 또한 특정 인자를 강조하기 위해서는 최적의 자기공명영상 인자를 선택하여야 한다.

Experimental Evaluation of Internal Blast Resistance of Prestressed Concrete Tubular Structure according to Explosive Charge Weight (프리스트레스트 콘크리트 관형 구조물의 폭발량에 따른 내부폭발저항성능에 관한 실험적 평가)

  • When a extreme loading such as blast is applied to prestressed concrete (PSC) structures and infrastructures for an instantaneous time, serious property damages and human casualties occur. However, a existing design procedure for PSC structures such as prestressed containment vessel (PCCV) and gas storage tank do not consider a protective design for extreme internal blast scenario. Particularly, an internal blast is much more dangerous than that of external blast. Therefore, verification of the internal blast loading is required. In this paper, the internal blast resistance capacity of PSC member is evaluated by performing internal blast tests on RC and bi-directional PSC scaled down specimens. The applied internal blast loads were 22.68, 27.22, and 31.75 kg (50, 60, and 70 lbs) ANFO explosive charge at 1,000 mm standoff distance. The data acquisitions include blast pressure, deflection, strain, crack patterns, and prestressing force. The test results showed that it is possible to predict the damage area to the structure when internal blast loading occurs in PCCV structures.

  • 기계적응력하에서의 고분자재료의 절연강도특성은 시료의 종류, 시료의 기계적 특성 및 기계적응력의 조건등의 주변조건에 따라 크게 변화하지만, 고분자내부구조의 변화에 기인한 절연파환계조의 변화를 고찰함으로써 어느정도 이방면의 해석이 가능할 것으로 생각된다.

Mechanical Behavior and Characteristics of Internal Temperature and Relative Humidity of Concrete at Early Age (초기재령 콘크리트의 역학적 특성 및 온·습도 거동 특성 분석)

  • This study is to analyze the internal temperature and relative humidity of concrete at early age, as well as the mechanical behavior. Three different levels of cement unit content were cosidered as an experimental variable. In order to measure internal temperature and relative humidity immediately after concrete placement, this study developed a unique measuring device, which provided reliable results. Different cement content did not significantly affected the strengths including compressive, tensile and flexural strength and after 7 days of curing, strengths did not increase noticeably. Internal temperature reached the maximum about 11 hours later the placement and decreased after removal of forms. The internal temperature varied depending on the location and the exposure condition. In addition, the internal relative humidity was more affected by the exposure condition rather than the cement content.

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of simulated acid rain (SAR) in the shoot growth and internal structure of Arabidopsis thaliana. In the shoot growth, the plants treated with SAR (pH 3.0) for 15 days showed no morphological change compared to the control plants. Some change was observed in the internal structure of the stems: the epidermis and cortex tissues of the stems treated with SAR were partly damaged. The plants treated with SAR showed no noticeable difference compared to the control plants, but morphological changes were observed in the leaf. The leaves of the plants treated with SAR showed many white necrotic spots on the part of upper epidermis. A light microscopic examination of the leaves with necrotic spots showed that the upper epidermis was severely compressed with the damaged cuticle layer and the mesophyll cells were also damaged and compressed. However, noticeable structural change of vascular bundle cells was not observed.

  • In this study, the fundamental behavior of microdomains in block copolymer/nanoparticle composite thin films was examined. In this experiment, polystyrene-b-poly(2-vinylpyridine) block copolymer and CdSe nanoparticles having a noncentrosymmetric property were employed. Composite hybrid thin films were produced by a spin coating method, and changes in the internal structure of composite thin films were monitored mainly by transmission electron microscopy. In summary, nanoparticles resided inside the thin film relatively intact, however, the block copolymer microdomains rotated parallel to the electric field direction. This study will be very helpful for future research activities regarding behaviors of heterogeneous composite materials under external fields.

  • Quality control of early age concrete significantly influences the long term performance. Primary factors for early age concrete quality control should include the relative humidity and temperature variation, and these are more important as structures become massive and huge. Temperature raise due to cement hydration causes stress, which can develop to cracking with internal and/or external restraints. Exposure conditions including ambient temperature, humidity and wind also significantly affect the cracking behavior of early age concrete. Among many of studies on the early age concrete behavior, investigation on the variation of temperature and relative humidity internal of concrete is not common. That is in part because the difficulties in measuring the relative humidity and temperature inside the concrete. This study used a digital sensor with an appropriate logger to measure internal temperature and relative humidity. This direct measuring method is expected to provide more reliable and comprehensive data acquisition on the early age behavior of concrete.

구조물의 내부공진에 대하여

  • 내부공진은 2자유도계 이상의 다양한 비선형 시스템에 존재할 수 있으며 모드 사이의 진동에너지의 교환의 원인이 된다. 위에서 설명한 흡진기의 경우처럼 그 시스템의 동작에 필수적인 요소가 되기도 하며 직사각형 평판의 경우처럼 선형이론 으로는 예측불가능한 진폭변조된 진동을 유발하기도 한다. 이론적인 해석의 결과 다양한 분기와 여러가지 형태의 해를 가지며, 특히 주기적 정상해와 혼돈적인 해를 갖는 것이 밝혀졌다. 이러한 주기적 정상해는 구조물에 따라 여러 가지 형태로 나타 나며 평판의 경우는 진폭변조된 움직이는 파형으로, 본문에서는 언급하지 않았지만 현의 경우는 타원의 퀘적의 크기와 주축의 방향의 변화로 나타난다. 이러한 다양한 해들은 구조물의 종류와 형상에 따라 다른 형태로 나타나며 향후 연구의 대상이라 생각되어진다.
