서울 강남구 역삼동 강남파이낸스센터 22층에 위치한 구글코리아. 세계 최대 검색 기업인만큼 치열하고 분주한 일상이 펼쳐질 것 같은 구글의 일터는 회사라기보다 대학교와 유사한 분위기다. 카페테리아에서 자유롭게 토론을 벌이기도 하고 점심시간이면 당구대와 미니 축구게임기 앞에서 모여 게임을 즐긴다. 직원들의 건강을 위한 마사지 프로그램은 전 세계 구글에서 실시하는 프로그램이다.

Google, an internet search service with extensive user base, has provided Book Search service. Google has pursued collaboration with publishers and libraries to obtain content for Book Search service; publisher community for the purpose of sourcing the books with copyrights, and the libraries for the purpose of digitizing their collections and also utilizing already digitized resources. Google Book Search Service has evoked significant controversy because of the potential monopoly problems and its risk, accompanied by Google's huge influence and broad user spectrum. This study, thus, suggests the countermeasures that library community should prepare in order to cope with the Google Book Search.

본 논문에서는 최근 주목을 받고 있는 클라우드 컴퓨팅 시스템 중 구글 앱스를 초등학교 현장에 어떻게 활용할 수 있는지 그 방안에 대해 모색해 보았다. 구글 앱스는 구글의 다양한 클라우드 컴퓨팅 서비스 중 SaaS(Software as a Service)에 해당하는 것으로써 캘린더, 메일, 문서도구, 사진, 사이트 도구, 유튜브, 지도 등의 서비스를 제공하는 것이다. 구글 앱스에서는 구글의 동일한 아이디 하나로 모든 서비스에 로그인이 가능하며 웹상에서 작업한 내용은 모두 웹에 저장되므로 언제 어디서나 네트워크에 연결된 디바이스만 있다면 활용이 가능하다. 그 뿐 아니라, 스마트폰, 태블릿 PC가 확산되고 있고 가격이 낮아짐에 따라 학생들도 활용하게 된 지금, 구글 앱스는 모바일 디바이스에도 서비스를 최적화시켰기에 학생들의 접근성이 더욱 높다. 앞으로 온라인 교육 등도 포함되면 적어도 국내에서는 교육계에 파급력이 상당하리라 생각하며 교육분야에 본격적으로 클라우드 컴퓨팅이 도입되기를 기대한다.

오라클은 지난해 자바기술과 특허를 보유한 썬마이트로시스템즈를 인수하면서, 구글의 안드로이드가 자바 특허기술을 침해했다며 구글을 상대로 고소장을 제출하였다. 오라클은 이번 특허소송에서 자바표준기술에 대한 특허 7건을 구글이 침해했다고 주장하고 있다.

Google cloud includes data uploaded and synchronized by users, as well as synchronization history of all cloud services, users' smartphone usage, and location information. Therefore, Google cloud data can be useful for digital forensics from a user behavior analysis perspective. Through this paper, we have identified the types of cloud data that can be acquired using Google's Takeout service and developed a tool that can be usefully utilized in digital forensics research and investigation by screening and analyzing the data required for analyzing user behavior. Because Google cloud data is synchronized through Google accounts regardless of the type of computing device, Google service data used on various devices such as PCs, smartphones, and tablet PCs can be acquired through Google accounts without the device. Therefore, the results of this paper's research are expected to be very useful for digital forensics research and investigation in the current situation.

Big tech companies are further strengthening its status against the background of data accumulation, price competitiveness by the platform, and competitive advantage due to the network effect. The competition subcommittee of the European Union(EU) imposed a huge fine on Google for antitrust violations, which was interpreted as an attempt to collect Google's unpaid taxes. In fact, taxation efforts in the form of 'Google tax' are underway, targeting expedient tax avoidance by global platforms. It has power and has a considerable influence on the startup ecosystem. The domestic sales and tax scale of global platforms, which have a great impact on domestic content startups and small and medium-sized venture companies, are not accurately measured. In the case of Google, according to research literature, sales in Korea were estimated at about 2 trillion to 3 trillion won in 2017, but Google Korea reported sales of 290 billion won in 2021 and paid 13 billion won in taxes. This study aims to verify the economic effect of the global platform that has a great influence on Korea, and specifically to quantitatively estimate the annual domestic sales and taxes of Google, a representative global platform. As a result of estimating Google's annual domestic sales and taxes based on the figures presented in the document related to Google's economic effect published by Google, the result was 4 to 9 trillion won in annual sales and 390.6 to 913.1 billion won in taxes. This study is meaningful in that it provides basic data on the direction of national and tax policies in the future digital economy era by estimating the problem of tax authority by country of global platform companies with a specific example of Google.

계속 발전하고 있는 정보 커퓨터 통신 기술의 발달은 일상생활뿐만 아니라 도서관에도 큰영향을 주고 있다. 특히 도서관이라는 개념을 실제공간(장소)에서 가상공간으로 확대하는데 큰 기여를 했다. 구글의 "구글 프린트" 프로젝트는 지금까지 우리가 생각해오던 "도서관"으 정의를 시대에 맞추어 다시 생각하게 할 수 있는 분기점이라고 한다면 너무 큰 과장이 될까? 현재 저작권 문제로 당분간 구글의 "library project"가 중단된 상태이지만 이 프로젝트가 계속 진행된다면 도서관계에 영향이 있을뿐 만 아니라 도서관 이용자에게는 기술의 이점을 이용, 도서관장서의 사용에 많은 편리함을 제공할 수 있기 때문에 도서관에서 종사하는 사람으로 이 글을 나누고자 한다.

With recent rapid globalization, accurate information for the foreign countries is increasingly important. Errors based on inaccurate information and unequal international relationships complicate the situations. In this article, authors analyzed the Japanese place names which appear on the Google Earth images and place name database of the NGA. Google Earth already becomes a tremendous soft power in internet society; therefore, accurate information on the satellite image is more necessary than ever. This article finds that many types of errors exist in the place names in Google Earth image service. Also many place names are listed with Japanese pronunciation in GNS database as variants. The Japanese place names have not been used in topographic maps published since 1910s and 1930s. Japanese place names were widely used in US military maps published in 1946. 1:250,000 maps published in 1954, however, doesn't seem to use Japanese pronunciation any more.

Google map has become one of the most recognized and comfortable means for providing statistical information of geographically referenced data. In this article, we introduce R functions to embed google map images on R interface and develop a function to represent statistical graphs such as bar graph, pie chart, and rectangle graph on a google map images.

정보환경의 변화에 따라 도서관과 웹 검색엔진의 차별성이 있음에도 불구하고 이용자들은 인터넷의 자원과 학술데이터베이스의 자원을 혼동하고 있다. 특히 구글스칼라가 갖는 검색속도와 조작의 편의성이라는 장점에 따라 데이터베이스의 학술적 가치에도 불구하고 구글스칼라를 가장 많이 이용하고 있다. 이 연구에서는 구글스칼라가 갖는 장점을 반영한 메타서치시스템의 특성과 가치를 조사하였다. 조사 대상은 메타서치시스템이 갖는 인터페이스 측면과 전자정보원 측면에서 비교 분석하였다. 이러한 새로운 검색채널로써 메타서치시스템을 이용하는 기관의 이용통계를 분석하여, 이를 바탕으로 구글스칼라와 같은 웹 검색엔진이 갖는 이용자선호가치를 수용하는 상황에서 이용자 이용행태 패턴과 주제별 전자정보 탐색 행위 등을 조사하였다.
