  • This study intends to provide basic data to determine the effect of walking days on quality of life and oral health-related behaviors. Data from the 2019 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were used, and complex sample linear regression analysis and logistic regression analysis were performed to determine the effect of walking days on health-related quality of life (EQ-5D) and oral health-related behaviors. As a result, controlling for demographic characteristics, and increasing the number of walking, the health-related quality of life decreased by .284 times (p<.05) and improved by 1.485 times for oral examination, .082 times for dental caries treatment, and .009 times for nerve treatment. a fold decrease (p<.05). Therefore, it can be used as basic data on the relationship between adult walking and oral health-related behaviors and quality of life, and it is considered valuable in that it suggests the relationship between walking and oral health as well as general health.

Data survey was conducted from June 3, 2021 to July 8, 2021, targeting 227 college students in some areas of Daejeon, and was analyzed using independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. As a result, temporomandibular joint disorder showed a positive correlation with all stress sub-factors, and oral health-related quality of life showed a negative correlation with all stress sub-factors and temporomandibular joint disorder. Also, it was found that temporomandibular joint disorder, interpersonal stress, and values stress had an effect on oral health-related quality of life. Based on the above results, it is required to find a systematic way to improve the quality of life related to oral health by preventing stress and temporomandibular joint disorder among college students.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine association between oral health status and perceived general health symptom. We analyzed 14,231 subjects who participated in Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2007~2009). All individuals were examined by a questionnaire about socioeconomic history, smoking and drinking habit, the frequency of daily tooth brushing, the presence of regular dental visit, and EuroQol-5D. Dental survey was conducted to find the decayed, missing, and filled teeth (DMFT) index and community periodontal index. Subjects with perceived problem with mobility had higher DMFT index (odds ratio, 1.18, p<0.001). Subjects with with perceived problem with pain/discomfort had higher DMFT index (odds ratio, 1.16, p<0.001). Self-rating general health symptom was not associated with periodontitis (p>0.05). Perceived general health was associated with DMFT index. It is recommendable that we can use the perceived general health to predict oral health status.

  • This study was conducted to provide data for the development of foods suitable for the level of oral health by analyzing the consumption of elderly-friendly foods according to the oral health status of the elderly. Using data from the health questionnaire, oral examination, and nutrition survey of the 7th National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, the oral health status and nutritional intake status of the elderly by each stage of elderly-friendly foods were analyzed, and a complex sample analysis method was applied. The elderly who mainly consume stage 3 elderly-friendly foods appear to have very poor oral health and nutritional status. Therefore, when developing elderly-friendly foods, it is necessary to develop various foods and provide systematic education considering the oral health status of the elderly and appropriate nutrients.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for confirming the convergence relationship between flexibility exercise on quality of life, oral condition, and oral health-related behavior. Data from the 2012 KNHNES were used, and complex sample linear regression analysis and logistic regression analysis were performed to confirm the effects of flexibility exercise on quality of life and oral health. As a result, those who controlled for demographic characteristics and did not exercise flexibility had .027 times worse exercise ability among the subcategories of quality of life, and .152 times higher number of carious permanent teeth. Among the symptoms of temporomandibular joint disorder, pain symptoms were 1.633 times higher in those who exercised flexibility (p<.05). Therefore, it is considered that flexibility exercise has value in that it has suggested a relationship not only with general health but also with oral health.
