  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a 12-week Resistance exercise Type on Muscle Damaged and Blood Lipid in elderly Women. Study shows researchers randomly divided thirty elderly women into the following 3 Groups such as Control group(CG: n=10), Aquatic Exercise Group(AEG: n=10), circuit exercise group(CEG: n=10). They made each group excercise 3 days a week for 12 weeks. The results were as follows. There was no interaction effect in the TC, LDL-C, HDL-C but there were interaction effects in the Body weight and Body Fat(%). The AEG and CEG decreased than the CG in the Body Weight, Body Fat(%), TC, LDL-C, and increased than the CG in the HDL-C with significant difference. These results were made certain that decreasing the Body Weight and Blood lipid, Increasing the Muscle and HDL-C for elderly women on AEG and CEG. The analysis results of study show the index of TG, CPK, LDH has no significant difference. Besides, It is considerable that the aquatic Exercise and Circuit exercise can prevent and improve the Sarcopenia for elderly women.

  • Sixty patients were divided into three groups. Each group of twenty persons had fed on different diet foods over 5 weeks. Cholesterol had been measured repeatedly five times at an interval of a week during 5 weeks. It resulted from mixed model analysis of repeated measurements data that homogeneous toeplitz covariance matrix pattern was selected as the optimal covariance pattern. The correlations between measurements of different times for the covariance matrix are somewhat highly correlated as 0.64-0.78. Based upon the homogeneous toeplitz covariance pattern model, the time effect was found to be highly significant, but the treatment effect and treatment-time interaction effect were found to be insignificant.

  • In analysis of resolution IV fractional factorial experiments, the main effects only are analyzed, even though we can get some useful information on the confounded 2-factor interactions. In this paper, we introduce an exploiting method of the confounded structure of interactions, especially for the near minimal resolution IV 3$^{t}$ fractional factorial designs developed by Anderson and Thomas (1979). Moreover, in this paper the application way of the proposed method is also discussed by analyzing some simulated data.

  • This study was designed to evaluate the effects of arthritis and comorbid chronic conditions on the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in the Korean older population. The study subjects were 2,708 Korean adults aged 65 and older from the $3^{rd}$ Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys data: 1,357 persons with a single chronic condition, such as arthritis, herniations of the intervertebral disc, osteoporosis, asthma, peptic ulcers, stroke, or cataract; 886 persons with arthritis and a second chronic condition described above; and 465 persons with no chronic condition. An analysis of covariance was performed to compare the EQ-5D index among the groups. The effects of arthritis, second chronic condition and their interactions were analyzed by multiple linear regression analysis. The results are as follows. Compared to men with arthritis only, men with stroke only, stroke and arthritis, or cataract and arthritis had a lower age adjusted EQ-5D index. Women with a stroke only, asthma only, cataract only, osteoporosis and arthritis, peptic ulcer and arthritis, stroke and arthritis, or cataract and arthritis had a lower age adjusted EQ-5D index than women with arthritis only. Arthritis and comorbid conditions had additive effects on the HRQol in both genders except for arthritis and stroke in women. In conclusion, comorbid chronic medical conditions in older people with arthritis may reduce the HRQoL in an additive manner.

  • Robust design is an approach to reducing performance variation of quality characteristic values in quality engineering. Taguchi parameter design has a great deal of advantages but it also has some disadvantages. The various research efforts aimed at developing alternative methods. In the Taguchi parameter design, the product-array approach using orthogonal arrays is mainly used. However, it often requires an excessive number of experiments. An alternative approach, which is called the combined-array approach, was suggested by Welch et. al. (1990) and studied by others. In this paper we make a comparative study on optimization procedures to robust design in the two different experimental design(product array, combined array) approaches the Mough the Monte Carlo simulation.

  • Computational investigation was conducted to study the effects of the shape parameter of shroud on the performance of the outdoor unit of an air-conditioners. For this study the Design of Experiment(4-factor 3-level) was created and the an automatic program was composed using VBA to reduce the load of pre-process for CFD. The estimated mathematical equation was produced from this analysis and it was found that the gap between fan and shroud affects more heavily than the other parameters. As a result, the composition of the best parameters was verified that its flow rate was increased by 10 percents and sound pressure level was reduced by 1.2 dBA compare with the worst. And finally, a kind of Propeller fan with blades which were attached to the shroud, so-called 'ProBeller Fan' was introduced in this study.

  • Confounding techniques have to be used repeatedly in the situations where it is necessary to perform only 2 runs under homogeneous conditions in $2^m$ factorial and fractional factorial experiment. Combinations of confounded $2^m$ factorial and fractional factorial designs enable the estimation of all main effects and all of or a part of 2 factor interaction effects. Defining contrast are used for our designs and treatment combinations of designs to be run are presented.

  • This study investigates the evolution processes of alternate bars in the channel with bank stability by vegetation by laboratory experiment. Laboratory experiments are conducted to elucidate the behavior of alternate bars by the influence of riparian vegetation on the rivers with erodible banks. To control bank stability of the channel, the actual vegetation, alfalfa, is grown by adjusting the density of alfalfa on the flood plain. As the vegetation density increases in the flood plain, the bank erosion rates and the channel widening rates decrease and the bank stability increases. The alternate bars migrate slow downstream over time. Moreover, the bars in a channel with strong banks migrate rapidly, which is related with the aspect ratio, that is, width to depth ratio. The bar wavelength decrease with vegetation density. Our laboratory experiments show that the behavior of bars differ according to bank strength.

  • This study scrutinizes the common sense in the field of disability employment that the bigger the size of a firm, the lower the employment rate of people with disabilities. This common sense has been established by conventional cross-tabulation and multiple regression analyses without taking into account possible interactions between the sizes of firms and the industries in which they operate. This study shows that the distribution of the disability employment rate violates the linearity and homoscedasticity assumptions of the OLS. In an effort to find models that explain the data better, this study fits the OLS model, the weighted linear regression model, and the multinomial logit model as well as the path analysis which is meant to examine the relationships between firm size and other variables relevant to disability employment. The result shows that, when an interaction term between firm size and industry is added to the model, firm size does not have any significant effect on disability employment rate for those firms with 100 or more regular employees, to the contrary of the findings of prior studies. It also demonstrates that other factors such as job setting, the extent of helpfulness of disability employment employers perceive, employers' care for disability, and employers' awareness of disability policies may matter more than does firm size. This study proposes that future research and policy implementation for disability employment should pay no less attention to industry and other factors mentioned above than to firm size.
