Due partly to lack of actual lane-changing data and partly to few studies on simulation functions to consider the lane-changing behavior, it may result in significant difference between simulation-based and real conditions. The objectives of this study are to estimate the set of mandatory lane-changing models and to analyze their features, depending on the merge control strategies under the lane-closed work zone operations. To achieve them, first, the elaborated calibration is required to simulate the mandatory lane-changing behaviors with the actual field data. Second, one can estimate their models with the logistic regression models, to obtain traffic variables as well as the lane-changing frequencies under the various levels of work zone traffic conditions. As a result, one can state that the well-calibrated simulation has the potential to properly reflect the target mandatory lane-changing behaviors. In addition, it should be mentioned that the set of proposed models is not practicable but preliminary result needed to identify the relations between the actual traffic conditions and lane-changing maneuvers and to develop their practical models for the actual applications.

This study aims to verify the applicability of TRANSIMS (TRansportion ANalysis SIMulation System) in interrupted traffic flow through calibration and validation process based on observation data; such as headway, traffic volume, speed, and travel time from Dalguberl Boulevard in Dae-gu metropolitan city. On this study, several micro-simulation parameters are derived from the calibration and validation process through performing a headway comparison and applying an ID back tracking methodology. As a result, it is figured out that actual circumstances of Korean roadway; for example, traffic volume per lane, speed, and travel time, can be applied on the TRANSIMS. Especially, it was possible to find out the influence of cell size parameter to traffic flow characteristic of simulation. However, it is hard to conclude that TRANSIMS is applicable to Korean roadway environment with studying particular target area. Therefore, additional studies; such as more case studies with various types of road, signal, and land use, will be required to localize TRANSIMS to Korea.

A VDS data in the domestic has been used within limits to real time information such as congestion management, incident management, and route guidance service. On the other hand, a VDS data in the foreign countries had been used to various objectives such as transportation policy assessment, transportation construction evaluation, franc safety improvement, and etc. The scope and method of the study is the VDS data which was installed in the uninterrupted flow such as the freeway and the interrupted flow in a diversion route of the leeway. It has investigated and analyzed the VDS as our subject to study, study objective and study methodology for each study generally classified as 1) data collection 2) data processing 3) data store and 4) data quality section. This study has investigated and analyzed the various literatures in domestic and foreign countries regarding the VDS data. And It drew the development direction of the study which is about VDS data in domestic from now.
This Paper is a Part of research Project series to analyze unique traffic characteristics observable within weaving sections on urban freeways. The research objectives were to establish with headway distribution and maximum Passing volume on weaving sections the basis of weaving designs that can promote safety and efficiency. Until now, when one wants to check the maximum Passing volume on weaving sections, it is taken for granted using headway distribution of freeway basic section. However. it was suspected in this research that for weaving sections different form of headway distribution had better be used. To prove this, field surveys were made to count headway intervals which supposedly were influenced not only by freeway basic section flows but also by weaving flows and later on used to develop headway distribution for weaving sections. For validation of the developed headway distribution, $x^2$-test was applied to three different data set of observed headways, currently used headway distribution for basic sections(Pearson Type III distribution) and new headway distribution. The result indicated new headway distribution as the most appropriate distribution form. Also, maximum passing volume within weaving sections was calculated based on new headway distribution and compared with Drew's maximum Passing volume.

In this study, the effect of safety improvement project was analyzed, and a decision making model for traffic accident reduction measures was suggested. The results of this study are as follow; First the overall number of traffic accidents and casualties were reduced, especially reduced the number of unauthorized crossing and centerline encroachments was remarkable. Second, the priorities of traffic accident reduction measures. through hazards roadway section improvement projects were determined. As, higher level evaluation items of AHP hierachy structure include civil facilities and transportation facilities. The civil facilities has 6 lower level evaluation items and transportation facilities has 4 items. The results of this study, It was revealed that traffic experts prefer civil facilities more than transportation facilities and the top 2 items of the each data (or index) took over 50%. In addition, one of the last evaluation contents through the verification, the top 3 items of civil facilities took 55.38%. The project according to the improvement projects for hazards roadway reduced traffic accidents and casualties as well as saving the cost. So these results should be available for basic information for the countermeasure about reducing the traffic accidents by local governments.
A class of SWP(Stochastic Wane Propagation) models microscopically mimics individual vehicles' stochastic behavior and traffic jam propagation with simplified car-following models based on CA(Cellular Automata) theory and macroscopically captures dynamic traffic flow relationships based on statistical physics. SWP model, a program-oriented model using both discrete time-space and integer data structure, can simulate a huge road network with high-speed computing time. However, the model has shortcomings to both the capturing of low speed within a jam microscopically and that of the density and back propagation speed of traffic congestion macroscopically because of the generation of spontaneous jam through unrealistic collision avoidance. In this paper, two additional rules are integrated into the NaSch model. The one is SMR(Stopping Maneuver Rule) to mimic vehicles' stopping process more realistically in the tail of traffic jams. the other is LAR(Low Acceleration Rule) for the explanation of low speed characteristics within traffic jams. Therefore, the CA car-following model with the two rules prevents the lockup condition within a heavily traffic density capturing both the stopping maneuver behavior in the tail of traffic jam and the low acceleration behavior within jam microscopically, and generates more various macroscopic traffic flow mechanism than NaSch model's with the explanation of propagation speed and density of traffic jam.
The operational effect of traffic signal control improvement was evaluated using the Two-Fluid Model. The parameters engaged in the Two-Fluid Model becomes food indicators to measure the quality of traffic flow due to the improvement of traffic signal operation. A series of experiment were conduced for the 31 signalized intersections in Uijeongbu City. To estimate the parameters in the Two-Fluid Model the trajectory informations of individual vehicles were collected using the CORSIM and Run Time Extension. The test results showed 35 percent decrease of average minimum trip time per unit distance. One of the parameters in the Two-Fluid Model is a measure of the resistance of the network to the degraded operation with the increased demand. The test result showed 28 percent decrease of this parameter. In spite of the simulation results of the arterial flow, it was concluded that the Two-Fluid Model is useful tool to evaluate the improvement of the traffic signal control system from the macroscopic aspect.

Since 2009 The Korean National Police Agency has been pushed "permissive left-turn" forward in order to making progress in Korean traffic operations system. Preceding researches manuals and guidelines present 6 standards(# of accidents # of lanes, pedestrian volume sight # of permissive left-turn lanes vehicle volume) as installation permissive left-turn. But in practical affairs it is most important that secure enough Gap-time between permissive left-turn vehicle and opposite through lane vehicle to make permissive left-turn vehicle move safer and more efficiently. This study suggests applying gap acceptance theory in microscopic model to permissive left-turn installation standards. Analysis methods of this study are field data survey statistical analysis and microscopic simulation analysis. This study collected field data by using AVI recording and measured permissive left-turn vehicle intersection passing time(T1) and against the opposite through lane vehicle Gap-time(T2). And statistical analysis performed about two values that measured before to predict the functionality between T1 and T2. These studies to overcome the limit of sample size carried out a microscopic simulation(VISSIM) plan and collect more samples to input statistical analysis.
