  • Parking guidance and information systems have been introduced to response the inefficient and inconvenience use of parking facilities. While advanced countries have reached effective use of parking guidance information system, the Republic of Korea has yet suffered from the lack of full use of advanced technologies. This study proposes an algorithm designed for a systems utilizing the USN technologies. A field test was performed. The test results showed that information from the proposed system is much reliable when compared to the one from the existing.

  • With requiring circumspections using big data, this study attempts to develop and apply the search method for audit issues relating to the ITS policy or program. For the foregoing, the auditing process of the board of audit and inspection was converged with the theoretical frame of boundary analysis proposed by William Dunn as an analysis tool for audit issues. Moreover, we apply the text mining technique in order to computerize the analysis tool, which is similar to the boundary analysis in the concept of approaching meta-problems. For the text mining analysis, specific model we applied the antisymmetry-symmetry compound lexeme-based LDA model based on the Latent Dirichlet Allocation(LDA) methodologies proposed by David Blei. The several prime issues were founded through a case analysis as follows: lack of collection of traffic information by the urban traffic information system, which is operated by the National Police Agency, the overlapping problems between the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Advanced Traffic Management System and fabrication of the mileage on digital tachograph.

Aircraft fueling optimization model under a fueling cost differentiation (급유비용 차별하의 항공기 급유 최적화 모형)

  • Aircraft fuel cost is the largest airline expenses in airlines who play a major role in air transportation system. Airlines have been making a great effort to save fuel as much as they can. Among these efforts, the systematic fueling strategy has been taken a growing attention since it is recognized as a very cost-effective fuel management strategy. The systematic fueling strategy is the fuel saving strategy in which extra amount of fuel is loaded to utilize the fueling cost differentiation among the cities where the aircraft operate. In this paper, the aircraft fueling optimization model is proposed. The proposed model is to calculate precise amount of loaded fuel to minimize overall fuel cost assuming that the aircraft routing for all aircrafts and fueling cost in all airports where the aircraft fly are given. Compared with heuristic fueling strategy, the result of the proposed model is promising. Therefore, it is expected that the proposed model plays a major role in fuel management strategy in airline operation.

A Model for Analyzing Time-Varying Passengers' Crowdedness Degree of Subway Platforms Using Smart Card Data (스마트카드자료를 활용한 지하철 승강장 동적 혼잡도 분석모형)

  • Crowdedness management at subway platforms is essential to improve services, including the prevention of train delays and ensuring passenger safety. Establishing effective crowdedness mitigation measures for platforms requires accurate estimation of the congestion level. There are temporal and spatial constraints since crowdedness on subway platforms is assessed at certain locations every 1-2 years by hand counting. However, smart cards generate real-time big data 24 hours a day and could be used in estimating congestion. This study proposes a model based on data from transit cards to estimate crowdedness dynamically. Crowdedness was defined as demand, which can be translated into passengers dynamically moving along a subway network. The trajectory of an individual passenger can be identified through this model. Passenger flow that concentrates or disperses at a platform is also calculated every minute. Lastly, the platform congestion level is estimated based on effective waiting areas for each platform structure.

  • 본 논문에서는 지방국도에 시설되고 있는 교통 정보 제공시스템의 운전 상태를 감시하여 보수와 함께 유지관리를 수행하기 위한 종합 보수지원 시스템을 구현한다. 제안된 시스템은 국도상에 불규칙하게 설치되는 차량검지 시스템을 계층 집중형 감시시스템으로 디자인하여 실시간 감시와 함께 발생되는 운전 이력과 정보를 활용하여 유지보수 체계의 온라인화를 실혐하였다.

Conceptual Design of Automatic Control Algorithm for VMSs (VMS 자동제어 알고리즘 설계)

  • Current state-of-the-art of VMS control is based upon simple knowledge-based inference engine with message set and each message's priority. And R&Ds of the VMS control are focused on the accurate detection and estimation of traffic condition of the subject roadways. However VMS display itself cannot achieve a desirable traffic allocation among alternative routes in the network In this context, VMS display strategy is the most crucial part in the VMS control. VMS itself has several limitations in its nature. It is generally known that VMS causes overreaction and concentration problems, which may be more serious in urban network than highway network because diversion should be more easily made in urban network. A feedback control algorithm is proposed in this paper to address the above-mentioned issues. It is generally true that feedback control approach requires low computational effort and is less sensitive to models inaccuracy and disturbance uncertainties. Major features of the proposed algorithm are as follows: Firstly, a regulator is designed to attain system optimal traffic allocation among alternative routes for each VMS in the network. Secondly, strategic messages should be prepared to realize the desirable traffic allocation, that is, output of the above regulator. VMS display strategy module is designed in this context. To evaluate Probable control benefit and to detect logical errors of the Proposed feedback algorithm, a offline simulation test is performed using real network in Daejon, Korea.

A Study on Estimating Route Travel Time Using Collected Data of Bus Information System (버스정보시스템(BIS) 수집자료를 이용한 경로통행시간 추정)

  • Recently the demands for traffic information tend to increase, and travel time might one of the most important traffic information. To effectively estimate exact travel time, highly reliable traffic data collection is required. BIS(Bus Information System) data would be useful for the estimation of the route travel time because BIS is collecting data for the bus travel time on the main road of the city on real-time basis. Traditionally use of BIS data has been limited to the realm of bus operating but it has not been used for a variety of traffic categories. Therefore, this study estimates a route travel time on road networks in urban areas on the basis of real-time data of BIS and then eventually constructs regression models. These models use an explanatory variable that corresponds to bus travel time excluding service time at the bus stop. The results show that the coefficient of determination for the constructed regression model is more than 0.950. As a result of T-test performance with assistance from collected data and estimated model values, it is likely that the model is statistically significant with a confidence level of 95%. It is generally found that the estimation for the exact travel time on real-time basis is plausible if the BIS data is used.

  • Simulation methods are being studied for various service models that can be used in industries as the development of web technology. DEVS is being used as a tool to simulate through scenarios using various information. In addition, DEVS/WS integrates web-based DEVS models through a distributed computing environment and can be used as tools for high-performance computing and data distribution. This paper describes a method for simulating an intelligent transportation system in DEVS/WS environment. This paper propose dynamic interest management model(DIMM) applied the genetic algorithm, manage efficiently road information of moving node. And, this paper evaluates performance of the dynamic interest management model in comparing to the none interest management model(NIMM). The transmitted messages and simulation time of the DIMM is saved than that of the NIMM.

  • Urbanization brings many challenges such as traffic, housing, and environment. To solve these problems, researchers are working on new transportation systems like urban air mobility (UAM). UAM aircraft should fly safely without burdening the existing air traffic system in the early stage of low-density operation. The airspace should also be managed and operated efficiently. Therefore it is important to make urban air traffic predictable by using corridors and collecting data on low-density operations in the early stage. For this purpose various simulations are needed before operation to create scenarios that estimate potential collisions between UAM aircraft and to evaluate the risks of aircraft spacing, loss of separation (LoS), and near mid air collision (NMAC). This paper focuses on identifying the requirements and considerations for setting separation standards for urban air traffic based on the results of studies.

A Study on Placement of Point Detectors Based on Homogeneous Section for Travel Time Estimation in National Highway (일반국도 통행시간 추정을 위한 동질구간 기반 지점검지기 배치에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out to set up the logic to determine lengths of the homogeneous sections effectively in order to provide dynamic travel time on real time base for the application of the model. First, considering real time traffic pattern fluctuation, lengths of the homogeneous sections for each time period and the final homogeneous sections were determined. In order to determine lengths of the homogeneous sections according to traffic condition, the cluster analysis was used based on real time data. In order to verify the homogeneous section the case with detectors in all links and the case with detectors in homogeneous section for each time period are used. As the results of verification, each cases showed similar estimation results. The results of this study are expected to be used for National Highway traffic management and the system to Provide a traffic information in the future. According to this study, when the homogeneous section decision model are used to the ITS project for National Highway, operation cost is expected to be cut by effectively establishing point detectors.
