A Study on the Antecedent Variables Influencing Adolescent School Engagement: Focusing on Behavioural Engagement (청소년의 학교몰입에 영향을 미치는 변인들에 대한 연구: 행동적 몰입을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify antecedent variables that positively influence behavioural engagement during school engagement, which is critical to adolescent socialization. The antecedent variable was categorized into the personal characteristics of adolescents who are the main agents of socialization and peer support and teacher support, which can be called social support at school sites. Individual characteristics include strength recognition, strength utilization, and learning goal orientation, and, peer supports include the supports for personality strength and academy, and, teacher supports include the supports for personality strength and perspective change. For this study, a survey was conducted on 539 high school students nationwide, collected data, 33 of them were removed, and 506 data were analyzed. Analysis shows that only learning goal orientation set as a sub-factor of individual characteristics has a static significant effect on behavioral engagement. Finally, based on the findings, we discuss the implications, limitations, and future research tasks of the study.

  • IT 장비 및 기기의 확산과 전력 소비의 증가로 인한 환경문제가 점차 심각한 국제문제로 대두되기 시작하면서, IT 부문의 $CO_2$ 배출과 에너지 절감을 위해 그린 IT의 중요성이 증대되고 있다. 그린 IT는 교육기관에서도 에너지 효율화 및 사교육비 절감 등의 효과를 발휘하기 위해 저탄소 녹색성장을 견인하는 녹색정보화 방향으로 추진되어야 할 필요가 있다. 본 논문에서는 교육기관에서의 녹색정보화를 위해, 학교 구성원들인 교사 학생들이 지켜야 할 그린 IT 사용 지침 및 이를 지속적으로 실천할 수 있는 교육활동을 제안하였다.

  • 학동기는 급격한 성장과 생체 기관의 기능이 충실해지는 동시에 내분비계의 발달로 성적 성숙이 완료되는 영양필요량이 급증하는 시기이다. 또한 자아존중감이 형성되고 식사에 대한 태도와 인식, 또한 반복적인 행위가 습관으로 굳어지는 시기로서, 바른 식태도와 식기호도, 식습관의 형성이 무엇보다도 중요한 시기이다. 현재 우리나라는 10,000여개에 이르는 전국의 초ㆍ중ㆍ고등학교에서 학교급식이 시행되고 있으며, 2006년 영양교사 배치를 눈앞에 두고 있다. 따라서 학교급식의 위생 및 영양관리를 통한 질적 향상과 더불어 학생의 영양 및 식생활 향상을 위한 식생활지도의 필요성이 급증하고 있다.(중략)

A Mathematics Teacher's Reflective Practice as a Process of Professional Development (전문성 신장 과정으로서의 한 수학교사의 성찰적 실천)

  • Most of every teachers' life is occupied with his or her instruction, and a classroom is a laboratory for mutual development between teacher and students also. Namely, a teacher's professionalism can be enhanced by circulations of continual reflection, experiment, verification in the laboratory. Professional development is pursued primarily through teachers' reflective practices, especially instruction practices which is grounded on $Sch\ddot{o}n's$ epistemology of practices. And a thorough penetration about situations or realities and an exact understanding about students that are now being faced are foundations of reflective practices. In this study, at first, we explored the implications of earlier studies for discussing a teacher's practice. We could found two essential consequences through reviewing existing studies about classroom and instructions. One is a calling upon transition of perspectives about instruction, and the other is a suggestion of necessity of a teachers' reflective practices. Subsequently, we will talking about an instance of a middle school mathematics teacher's practices. We observed her instructions for a year. She has created her own practical knowledges through circulation of reflection and practices over the years. In her classroom, there were three mutual interaction structures included in a rich expressive environments. The first one is students' thinking and justifying in their seats. The second is a student's explaining at his or her feet. The last is a student's coming out to solve and explain problem. The main substances of her practical know ledges are creating of interaction structures and facilitating students' spontaneous changes. And the endeavor and experiment for diagnosing trouble and finding alternative when she came across an obstacles are also main elements of her practical knowledges Now, we can interpret her process of creating practical knowledge as a process of self-directed professional development when the fact that reflection and practices are the kernel of a teacher's professional development is taken into account.

A Comparative Study of Actuality of Elementary and Middle School Teachers' Perception on Cyber Home Learning System (사이버 가정학습체제에 대한 초중등 교사의 인식실태 비교연구)

  • Along with developments of information and communication technologies, internet has spread not only all over the society, but also our everyday life deeply. Recently, requirements for e-learning using internet in the educational aspect have a great influence on the changes of school educations. Cyber Home Learning System, in particular, has been implemented throughout the nation for the purpose of reducing private expenditure for education and promoting substantial improvements in quality of public education. However, there have been exposed many problems with respect to quality of operations and managements of the system comparing to its quantitative growth, and so, at this point in time, researcher conducted analysis of actuality of perceptions of both elementary and middle school teachers with a focus on the case of S System in K province. To test this, total 278 participants were sampled from the elementary schools (139 teachers) and the middle schools (139 teachers) located in K province and were asked to complete a survey and the results therefrom were analyzed accordingly. Results from the analyses revealed that elementary school teachers responded more positively than other respondents in the most areas, including supply of a variety of learning contents of S System, quality of contents, and providing for helps insomuch as to complement school works, etcetera. In addition, researcher has found out that, to make the system become all the more efficient, it shall be required to establish a strategy in order to induce students' interest in the system, as well as to construct infrastructure for facilitating the use of computer. And that there are also needs for continuous supports from both the school and the education authority concerned, and for method of flexible operation of curriculum.

Measuring the Professional Development Needs for Technical and Vocational Education and Training Staff in Nepal: A Look at Teachers' Perceptions (네팔 직업기술교육훈련 교사들의 교육훈련 프로그램 요구조사)

  • Promoting job growth and quality has been central to developing countries to reduce poverty for decades. In this regard, Nepal is not unique in its need to develop effective TVET programme as it is considered showing positive association with workforce development and productivity. While the copious academic literature has highlighted upon staff training programme in general education, it encounters lack of adequate attention in the field of TVET education. The purpose of the study is to identity and prioritise the professional development needs for the teachers of TVET sector in Nepal. A sample(N=317) of Nepalese teachers from seven provinces were asked to answer the scale. The Borich needs assessment model was employed to assess the perceived level of importance and present preferred training modules among 29 teaching subjects. Moreover, a quadrant analysis using 2×2 matrix was used as a diagnostic tool to denote overriding training topics. The result shows that following competence skills constructs were perceived to be in high need of enhancement as well as in existence of discrepancies: 'occupational characteristics of TVET trainer', 'training needs analysis and curriculum development', 'curriculum development based on national competence standard(NCS)', and 'Institution management evaluation'.

A Survey on the Problems and Conditions of Educational Guidance and Counselling in the Gifted Education Programs (초중등 영재학급·교육원의 학생 생활지도 실태 및 과제 - 영재 담당교사들의 인식을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the problems and conditions of educational guidance and counselling of teachers in the gifted classes. For the study, 267 teachers were sampled from the Gifted Education Institutes of metropolitan and provincial offices of education and Gifted Classes of the school across Korea, and the questionnaire developed by the researchers were administered to them. The results of this study are as follows : First, the 82% of respondents reported that the guidance and counselling in the gifted education is needed. So it demands the active responsive strategies on it. Second, the respondents reported that the selfish or self-centered traits of the gifted students are the most problematic in the gifted classes. It shows the emphasis should be put on the basic life habits and moral education in the guidance and counselling of the gifted education. Third, they pointed out the case-based education is needed for the parents of the gifted to correct their misconceptions about their children. Fourth, to support the teachers of the gifted program, the administrative measures have to be taken, like operation of character education program, forming a consultative group with the experienced teachers, developing the case-based guideline for the guidance and counselling for the gifted education, etc. Fifth, we should develop the Korean model of the gifted education to promote social capital for our future society.

The Longitudinal Study on Structural Relationship between Adolescent's Self_Esteem Change and Its Influencing Factors

  • The purpose of this research is to suggest some practical and policy implications for improving adolescent's self-esteem through analyzing longitudinally the effects of parental attitude, peer relationship, student-teacher relationship, school learning activity, life-goal on adolescent's self-esteem by using latent growth curve model. Analytical data was obtained from the KYCPS. The analytical results showed that the change model of adolescent's self_esteem turned out to be a leaner model in which the change rate and intercept were significant. Second, time dependent variables influence on adolescent's self_ esteem meaningfully. Third, time dependent variables influence on adolescent's self_ esteem changes significantly. This study proposed some policy implications basing on these findings.

  • The purpose of this paper is to reveal the limitation of previous studies on curriculum re-construction and to suggest an alternative for curriculum re-construction. Through the literature review, this paper finds that previous studies quiet over the direction about selecting as well as organizing contents. In order to overcome the weaknesses of previous studies, this paper embraces the interest of learner for establishing the direction of curriculum reconstruction. To be more specific, this study shows that how can the ideas of growth, habit, and interest of John Dewey connect to contents-selecting and organizing in the process of instruction. As a result, this paper helps curriculum discourses to make progress for various direction and helps teachers to reconstruct the contents based on interests of their students.

A Study on the Development of Educational Digital Media in Brewing Coffee Using 3D Animation (3D 애니메이션을 이용한 커피 추출 교육용 디지털 콘텐츠 개발 연구)

  • The coffee market has been rapidly growing up recently as well as the coffee industry which makes the number of educational institutions increasing in Korea. On the other hand, the classes lean too much on the practical exercise so the coffee education is urgently needed to define precisely and systematize academically. This study is accomplished on the basis of the teachers and students requirement analysis. The features that sets this study apart from the existing educational digital media is that the definite teaching-learning methods and teaching strategies were developed first. Furthermore, the physical and chemical phenomenon of coffee brewing were simulated by 3D animation software based on the visual languages. The general process of this media production was composed by the mutual relationship of the teacher's needs, educationist's strategies and media producer. After applying the digital media to students in the lesson of coffee science theory it was effective to increase their concentrativeness, interesting and learning motive. This media is also receiving the positive evaluation by the teachers to help the students in understanding the coffee science.
