Consistency Between Elementary Teachers' Teaching Practice in Mathematics and Classroom Learning Environment (초등학교 교사들의 수업 관행과 학생들의 학습 환경 인식과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigatethe relationship between Korean elementary teachers' teaching practice and students' perceptions of classroom learning environment. It is important to examine whether teachers conceive of mathematics and their teaching practice are consistent with their actual teaching mathematics in classroom. To do so, two reform-oriented and two traditionally-oriented elementary teachers in Seoul and a total of 130 students from these four selected teachers' classes participated in the present study Using classroom environment survey scale [CES] the differences in students' perceptions on classroom learning environment were examined. The results show that students taught by reform-oriented teachers have significantly higher score in the area of participation, relevance, and commitment to learning than traditionally-oriented group of students. Thus, we may conclude that the reform-oriented group of students have more benefits in learning mathematics than do the traditionally-oriented group of students.

The Comparisons of children′s Emotional and Behavioral Problems and the Roles of Grandparents in Nuclear and Extended families (가족구조에 따른 아동의 문제행동과 조부모의 역할에 대한 인식 비교)

  • 본 연구에서는 핵가족과 확대가족의 구조가 한국 초등학교 아동의 문제행동에 미치는 영향을 비교하였다. 서울과 인천에 거주하는 417명의 초등학생을 대상으로 그들의 문제행동을 Children's Behaviour Questionnaire(CBQ:Rotter, 1967)에 의해서 교사가 평가하였으며, 아동은 그들 조부모의 역할을 Grandmother's Role Questionnaire(GRQ:Suh, 1991)에 의해서 평가하였다. 그 결과, 확대가족의 아동은 핵가족의 아동보다 문제행동을 덜 보였으며, 확대가족의 조부모가 손자녀를 정서적으로 지지하고 돌보아주며 생활에 간섭하는 역할을 하는 반면에 핵가족의 조부모는 손자녀를 훈계하는 역할을 주로 하는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 확대가족에서의 조부모는 손자녀의 정서적인 안정을 뒷받침하고 또한 부모의 스트레스를 완화시키며 가족의 화목한 분위기를 증진시키는 등의 역할을 통해서 손자녀에게 직접적, 간접적으로 영향을 미치며, 이러한 조부모의 역할은 아동의 문제행동에 근간이 되는 가족의 역동성에 영향을 미친다고 본다.

  • 운동 부족과 잘못된 생활습관 등으로 인하여 청소년들의 운동량 부족과 생활체육 참여율이 저조해지고 있다. 청소년의 체력저하 문제를 해결하기 위하여, 학생/교사가 다양한 종목을 실감체험, 몰입, 학습 및 평가할 수 있는 스포츠 체험 시스템 기술 보급을 통해서 학교체육을 활성화할 수 있다. 그뿐만 아니라 우수한 인적 자원 확보를 위하여 소질을 가진 청소년에 대한 맞춤식 교육지원이 요구되고 있다. 이를 위하여 태권도를 포함한 다양한 스포츠를 즐기면서 운동 효과를 증진할 수 있는 청소년용 스포츠 체험 통합시스템 개발이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 청소년체육의 도전/경쟁/표현/여가 능력을 함양하기 위한 인체/객체 모션인식기반의 청소년용 실감 체험형 스포츠 통합플랫폼 개발을 위한 핵심 기술들의 동향을 분석하고자 한다.

A Study of Teachers' Pedagogical Content Knowledge about Area of Plane Figure (평면도형의 넓이 지도에 대한 교사의 PCK 분석)

  • This study is to diversely analyze teachers' Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) regarding to the area of plane figures and discuss the consideration for the materialization of the effective class in learning the area of plane figures by identifying the improvements based on problems indicated in PCK. The subjects of inquiry are what the problems with teachers' PCK regarding to the area of plane figures are and how they can be improved. In which is the first domain of PCK, teachers need to fully understand the concept of the area and the properties and classification of the area and length, recognized the sequence structure as a subject of guidance and improve the direction which naturally connects the flow of measurement by using random units in guidance of the area. In which is the second domain of PCK, teachers need to establish understanding of the concept for the area and understanding of a formula as a subject matter object and improve the activity, discovery and research oriented class for students as a guidance method by escaping from teacher oriented expository class and calculation oriented repetitive learning. They also need to avoid the biased evaluation of using a formula and evenly evaluate whether students understand the concept of the area as a performance evaluation method. In which is the third domain of PCK, teachers need to fully understand the concept of the area rather than explanation oriented correction and fundamentally teach students about errors by suggesting the activity to explore the properties of the area and length. They also need to plan a method to reflect student's affective aspects besides a compliment and encouragement and apply this method to the class. In which is the fourth domain of PCK, teachers need to increase the use of random units by having an independent consciousness about textbooks and supplementing the activity of textbooks and restructure textbooks by suggesting problematic situations in a real life and teaching the sequence structure. Also, class groups will need to be divided into an entire group, individual group, partner group and normal group.

Change of Science Teachers' Perceptions About the Atmosphere Composition of Molecules with Different Masses (서로 다른 질량을 가진 분자들로 이루어진 대기의 조성에 대한 과학교사들의 인식 변화)

  • In this study, we surveyed pre- and post-perceptions of fourteen science teachers related to the atmosphere composition of molecules with different masses by the developed test. As a result of the test, the teachers were classified into two types of thoughts; One of them is considered the atmosphere to be a homogeneous solution, and the other is a thought that the composition ratio of the atmosphere was not homogeneous considering the different weights of particles. The two types were reclassified into three categories; one of them is considering large gravity effect, another is considering small gravity effect, and the other is considering medium scale gravity effect. Total six types of thoughts were found from the pre-test. After introducing crosscutting concepts which are related to the composition of atmosphere. The teachers discussed the phenomena with the molecular motion by weights of atoms and temperature, the homogeneity of the solution of air in chemistry domain. They also discussed with the relationship between mass and gravity and distance in physics domain. And the discussion included distribution of the atmosphere, convection phenomena, etc. After the discussion, the teachers changed their pre-conceptions to post-concoctions considering combined perspectives of gravity, mass, temperature, altitude etc. Through these changes, we are able to confirm the importance of crosscutting concepts covered in various disciplines. In the integrated science, we should help teachers to provide students with these types of thinking in order to form a coherent world-view and to carry out inquiry thinking as an intellectual tool.

The Effects of Project Learning of Pre-service Teachers on Self Directed Learning Ability and Creative Personality (초등예비교사의 프로젝트 학습이 자기주도적 학습능력 및 창의적 인성에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the pre-service teacher's maker project learning on self -directed learning ability and creative personality. This study established an eight-week period of experimental treatment from March to April 2019, and the students who participated in the study formed a research group of 75 students in three of their advanced classes who are attending the second semester of B University of Education and taking courses in 'Teaching Research 1'. The experimental treatment of research groups was conducted by the process of producing creative outputs through training of manufacturers. The experimental group of the study group was a process of producing creative output through maker education. The theme was set up to create creative output by group, worked with the main tool, 3D pen, and utilized the recycling material. When the creative output is completed, it is announced by presenting the actual product in each group. The results of the study are as follows. First, project learning by pre-service teachers had an effect on self-directed learning ability. Second, project learning by pre-service teachers had an effect on creative personality. Third, pre-service teachers was interested in learning about the project and responded positively to the students' perception.

Development of Competency Model for Beginning Teachers in Home Economics (가정과 초임교사 역량모델 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a 'Competency Model for Beginning Teachers in Home Economics'. The study was conducted in a total of 4 stages(preparation of competency model development stage, materialization stage, validity verification stage, and competency diagnosis stage), and the results of the study were as follows. First, the first tentative competency model was derived through the literature study, and the secondary tentative competency model was derived through an FGI. The validity of the secondary tentative competency model was verified by 15 experts and the competency groups, competencies, and competency definitions from this study were found to have content validity. Second, the competency diagnosis was conducted for a total of 222 beginning teachers in Home Economics. As a result, a total of 7 competencies were derived as the 'top priority competencies' that are of first priority for beginner teachers in Home Economics. The final competency model which was developed by reflecting the research results, was composed of 4 competency groups and 22 competencies and 22 competency definitions. The competencies of each competency group were presented in the order that beginning teachers thought were important. This study is meaningful in that it used an FGI and competency diagnosis to identify beginning teachers' perceptions and demands of the competencies and reflect the results on the competency model development.

Analysis of Teachers' Perceptions to Establish the Management Direction of Outdoor Space in an Elementary School (초등학교 외부공간 관리방향 설정을 위한 교사의 인식 분석)

  • This study analyzed the perceptions of teachers to establish the direction for managing the space outside an elementary school. Satisfaction with outdoor school spaces is influenced by the satisfaction with tree and flower plantation and outdoor rest spaces. This study found that the longer the working years of a teacher, the higher their awareness of the importance and necessity of outdoor spaces in the school. Respondents emphasized the lack of manpower and budget, as well as the indifference of the administration as hindrances to the management of outdoor spaces in the school. The outdoor space in the school should include a secure play area, plant education space, class practice spaces, and a rest area. Furthermore, the space outside the elementary school should support learning, playing, and resting. To this end, facilities such as benches, pergolas, outdoor classrooms, ecological ponds, farms, and flower beds should be provided. In an outdoor space, plants featured in textbooks, seasonal plants, and those that provide shade can be planted along with labels to provide information and thereby promote learning. The teachers expected that the management of the external space will have an educational and emotional effect on students. In response to the innovation of the school spaces, it is necessary to continuously manage the external spaces to achieve educational and emotional effects by organically connecting the outdoor spaces with the indoor space. For this purpose, it is required to provide support for securing budgets and manpower, and to introduce relevant policies.

A study on the introduction of definite integral by the fundamental theorem of calculus: Focus on the perception of math content experts and school field teachers (미적분학의 기본정리에 의한 정적분 도입에 대한 고찰: 내용전문가와 학교 현장 교사의 인식을 중심으로)

  • This study analyzed the mathematical academic perspective and the actual status of the school field on the introduction of a definite integral as a 'Fundamental Theorem of Calculus' in the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum. Therefore, in order to investigate the mathematical academic perspective and the actual status of the school field, a study was conducted with 12 professors majoring in mathematical analysis and 36 teachers. From a mathematical academic point of view, professors majoring in mathematical analysis said that introducing a definite integral as a 'Fundamental Theorem of Calculus' in the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum was difficult to significantly represent the essence and meaning of the definite integral. In addition, in the actual status of the school field, teachers recognize the need for a relationship between a definite integral and the area of a figure, but when a definite integral is introduced as a 'Fundamental Theorem of Calculus', students find it difficult to recognize the relationship between the definite integral and the area of a figure. As the 2022 revised curriculum, which will be implemented later, introduces definite integrals as a 'Fundamental Theorem of Calculus' this study can consider implications for the introduction and guidance of static integrals. And, this study proposed a follow-up study on an effective teaching and learning method that can relate the definite integral to the area of the figure when introducing the definite integral as the 'Fundamental Theorem of Calculus' and on various visual tools and media.

A Study on the Recognition Level of High School and University Students and Teachers about Culinary Practice Education (조리 실습 교육에 대한 고등학생.대학생.교사의 인식 수준 비교 연구)

  • This study was conducted with the purpose of surveying the high school and university students and culinary teachers in charge of guidance in cooking related departments to see the recognition levels of culinary practice education and to suggest improvement plans. The subjects of this research were 616 culinary high school students, 419 culinary university students, and 103 culinary teachers. The collected data was compared and analyzed by frequency and percentage. The collected data was analyzed(i. e., $X^2$ test and t-test) using SPSS 14.0(SPSS Inc, Chicago, USA). Learning demands were shown to be high and much more practice was demanded, so it is required to raise the importance of culinary arts as a subject. Manpower placement, such as practice assistant teachers and practice teachers, is necessary and more training support for teachers' professional ability expansion is required. Moreover, it is required that practices after theory study, video education, and practice demonstrations should be performed and multimedia developed. Detailed practice demonstrations should be enabled and foreign subject education should be performed. The general evaluation in which feedback is appropriately made, along with the evaluation of practice courses and results needs to be performed. Positive school life should be prepared by performing proper course education simultaneously.
