  • The goal of this research was to clarify how a child's maladjustment affects the teacher-child relationship and leads to teaching stress. Subjects were 178 teacher-child pairs in kindergartens or day care centers. The child was 3 to 5-years-old and perceived by its teacher as having maladjusted behavior. Teachers responded to the Index of Teaching Stress(Greene, Abidin, & Kmetz, 1997) and the Student-Teacher Relationships Scale(Pianta 1991). The maladjusted behaviors observed by teachers were correlated with each other. ADHD was the biggest problem perceived by teachers. Most fields of maladjusted children's behaviors caused stress to teachers except those of intellectual deficit and academic Problems. Frustration peaked during the teaching process. More severely maladjusted behaviors resulted in greater conflict in teacher-child relationships.

  • This study focuses on the application of the data mining technique logistic regression analysis and decision tree analysis to the domestic public database called Korean Children Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) to derive a series of important factors affecting the enhancement of life satisfaction of domestic youth. As a result, the general impact factors on life satisfaction for each grade were derived from logistic regression. Using decision tree analysis, we came to conclusions that those factors such as depression, overall grade satisfaction, household economic level, and school adaptation play crucial roles in affecting high school adolesscents' life satisfaction.

  • In this paper, we designed a teaching unit for the learning mathematization of secondary pre-service teachers through exploring the relationship between partition models and generalized fibonacci sequences. We first suggested some problems which guide pre-service teachers to make phainomenon for organizing nooumenon. Pre-service teachers should find patterns from partitions for various partition models by solving the problems and also form formulas front the patterns. A series of these processes organize nooumenon. Futhermore they should relate the formulas to generalized fibonacci sequences. Finding these relationships is a new mathematical material. Based on developing these mathematical materials, pre-service teachers can be experienced mathematising as real practices.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine how students' perception of their mathematics teachers' instructional practices is associated with students' attitude toward mathematics, taking into account their self-efficacy in mathematics. The sample contained 4669 Korean fourth graders who participated in Trends in International Mathematics Science Study 2015. We used exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis to explore the factor structure of three latent variables and conducted structural equation modeling to examine the hypothesized model. The results revealed that when students positively perceived their teachers' instructional practices, they tended to have a positive attitude toward mathematics. We also found that students' self-efficacy beliefs in mathematics positively mediated the relationship between perceived teachers' instructional practices and personal attitude toward mathematics. We discuss the practical and methodological implications of these findings and offer directions for future studies.

  • The current study examined the effects of teacher efficacy, and level of professionalism in the subject of interaction of teachers and children. The data collected in this study shows the following results. First, teachers over thirty years-old tend to show a higher level of teacher efficacy, level of professionalism and interaction of teachers and children compare to teachers who are under thirty. In categories, such as teacher efficacy and level of professionalism, accreditation experience caused significant difference. The group of teachers who had more than two times of accreditation experience show higher teacher efficacy than the group of teachers that had no experience, and the previous groups' level of professionalism was higher than the rest. Second, teacher efficacy has positive correlation in level of professional- ism and interaction of teachers and children. Level of professionalism of childcare teachers has positive correlation with interaction of teachers and children. Third, when examining the relative effect of socio-demographic variables, teacher efficacy and level of professionalism on interaction of teachers and children, mature teachers have more influence on verbal interaction of teachers and children; the teachers who have longer career have more influence on behavioral interaction of teachers and children. By and large, teachers who are older and have higher teacher efficacy and level of professionalism gain more influence on overall interaction of teachers and children.

  • In this study, I hoped to reveal the understanding of pre-service elementary teachers about proportional reasoning and the traits of proportional reasoning strategy used by pre-service elementary teachers. The results of this study are as follows. Pre-service elementary teachers should deal with various proportional reasoning tasks and make a conscious effort to analyze proportional reasoning task and investigate various proportional reasoning strategies through teacher education program. It is necessary that pre-service elementary teachers supplement the lacking tasks such as qualitative reasoning and distinction between proportional situation and non-proportional situation. Finally, It is suggested to preform the future research on teachers' errors and mis-conceptions of proportional reasoning.

  • Given that less attention has been paid to teachers than students in mathematics education, this study attempted to provide theoretical foundations to understand better mathematics teacher learning and teaching practice in transition. First, this paper summarized three conceptions of teacher learning on the basis of the relationships of knowledge and practice followed by several implications to mathematics teacher education. Second, this paper provided a brief overview of cognition as situated, social, and distributed. This paper then explored new implications and issues about mathematics teacher learning that the overview brought to light. It is expected for teacher educators and researchers to participate in rich discussion of many implicit issues about teacher learning that this paper begins to raise.
