Objectives The purpose of this study is to compare the common herbs for pain related disease between Yak-Jing and textbook of herbology. Methods We searched the formation of "Koho" and theory of Todo yoshimasu. We selected the common herbs that is used for pain related disease in Yak-Jing and textbook of herbology. These herbs were compared with each other. Result 1. Common Herbs for pain related disease are Ephedrae Herba (麻黃), Aconiti Lateralis Preparata Radix (附子), Euphorbiae Kansui Radix (甘遂), Euphorbiae pekinensis Radix (大戟) Daphnis Genkwa Flos (芫花), Atractylodis Rhizoma (朮), Paeonia Radix Rubra (芍藥), JujubaeFructus (大棗), Gypsum (石膏), Anemarrhenae Rhizoma (知母), Cinnamomi Ramulus (桂枝), Poria (茯苓), Rhei Rhizoma (大黃), Natrii Sulfas (芒草), Pueraiae Radix (葛根). There are some difference between textbook of herbology and Yak-Jing about Aconiti Lateralis Preparata Radix (附子), Paeonia Radix Rubra (芍藥), Atractylodis Rhizoma (蒼朮), Pueraiae Radix (葛根). 2. Preparata Radix (附子) excrete water poisons (水毒) in Yak-Jing, but it has the effect of restore yang and tonify fire (回陽補火) in textbook of herbology. 3. Paeonia Radix Rubra (芍藥) is effective for pathological condition caused by the formation of the band and spasm (結實拘攣) in Yak-Jing, but it is to cure heat pattern in textbook of herbology. 4. Atractylodis Rhizoma (蒼朮) has the effect of water-draining (利水) in Yak-Jing, but it has the effect of dispersing (發散) in textbook of herbology. 5. Pueraiae Radix (葛根) is used in dyspnea and sweating (喘而汗出) in Yak-Jing, but it is to cure engender fluid (生津), skin disease, diarrhea in textbook of herbology. Conclusion There are some difference between textbook of herbology and Yak-Jing in the herb medicine that is used in pain related disease.
This study aims to increase students' understanding of equilibrium, one of the many concepts in chemistry that students find difficult. Dynamic equilibrium must be dealt with at the sub-microscopic level where the real and the representation overlap in order to microscopically understand the constant motion and interaction of particles and to understand the macroscopic characteristics expressed through this. However, as a result of analyzing 9 Chemistry I textbooks, the expression approach for equilibrium had some limitations. As a strategy to understand equilibrium at a sub-microscopic approach, the classes using scratch were consisted of a total of 4 hours, and it was implemented with 56 students. The classes were composed of 6 steps, and it was designed to understand equilibrium step by step. As a result of comparing the pretest and post- test, the number of students who got both the microscopic and macroscopic explanations of chemical equilibrium correct increased largely. Through this, it was possible to get a glimpse of the applicability of classes using scratch as the approach strategy of the sub-microscopic representation.

This study analyzed the 2009 revised curriculum 6th grade math geometric domain and developed virtual operation tool contents based RME theory. These materials were examine to find out how to effect on the spatial sense and mathematical attitudes by applying it to teach the 6th grade students. The results were as follows. First, it is more effective for improving spatial sense to study mathematics based RME theory with virtual operation tool contents than normal one. This means that mathematics study based RME theory with virtual operation contents overcomes the limitations of flat learning environment. And it is great educational and effective method for students to improve their spatial sense. Second, it is more effective for improving mathematical attitudes to study mathematics based RME theory with virtual operation tool contents than normal one. This means that Mathematics study based RME theory with virtual operation contents makes student more participate learning actively. It helps the students who have passive learning habits to have self-directed learning habits, ability to cooperation and communicate. The results of this study suggest that mathematics study based RME theory is very helpful for student to improve their spatial sense and have positive effect on self-concept in mathematics, attitudes toward mathematics and improving study habits in mathematical attitudes.

This study developed an MEA program to which the invention technique was applied and analyzed the conceptual change of students. The MEA activity applying the invention technique (TRIZ) was composed of the topic of making a paper electric circuit in the section 'Using electricity' presented in the 6th grade textbook. As a way to materialize ideas for problem solving, among the TRIZ techniques, division, integration, multi-purpose, overlapping, subtraction, and converse techniques were extracted and applied. The devised program consists of examining invention techniques (1st session), problem-solving (2nd and 3rd sessions), and expressing the problem-solving process (4th session). As a result of applying to 6th grade elementary school students, it was confirmed that the scientific concept of the experimental group participating in the MEA class to which the invention technique was applied was improved compared to the control group participating in the general class. As a result of calculating the scientific concept improvement index, the control group showed a low educational effect of 0.15, and the experimental group showed an intermediate educational effect of 0.69. This study is meaningful in that it suggests a specific way to graft invention education into science subjects.

This study attempted to reveal the characteristics of the Y generation, to derive the services of the next generation digital library, and to compare differences between the demands of the baby boom generation and the Y generation to some extent. As a result, first, it is shown that the digital device the Y generation uses the most, was a cell phone or smartphone, followed by desktop PC, notebook PC, and digital camera. Although there were some differences, the Y generation's use ratio of digital devices was substantially similar to the baby boomers'. Second, there was a significant difference between the Y generation and baby boom generation in terms of using digital services. While the Y generation used internet portals the most, the baby boom generation used e-mail service the most. Third, we surveyed the services which the Y generation and baby boom generation require for the next generation digital libraries, by grouping as follows: the cloud service, infinite creative space (maker space), big data, augmented reality, Google Glass, context-aware technologies, semantic services, SNS service, digital textbook service, RFID and QRCode service, library space configuration, a state-of-the-art display technology, and other innovative services. While the most demanded service by the Y generation was big data service, the baby boom generation most demanded digital textbook service.
In this study, high school students' perceptions of chemically ill-defined ‘heavy metals’ were examined through questionnaires. Nineteen classes of 11th graders (N = 611) were divided into two groups according to completion of 'Chemistry I', which were 10 science-classes and 9 liberal art-classes and compared each other. Three terms of students' cognition and definition, impact on the formation of their cognition, and their chemical knowledge of 'heavy metals' were analyzed by SPSS. The findings revealed that most of students recognized ‘the heavy metal’ as the metal which causes to be accumulated on any living thing and is hazardous in human body regardless of different major between liberal art and science. Mass media and school instruction were found to be the greatest impact on the formation of these cognitions. Especially, school instruction had more effects on students majoring in science than students majoring in liberal art, which bring the result that students in science-classes have more misconception about the definition of 'heavy metals' with human toxicant regardless of metal species and its content in human body and physical density due to the ill-defined terminology of the textbook than students in liberal art-classes do. It is interesting that students in science-classes understood hazard and chemical structure of 'heavy metals' better, while students in liberal art-classes answered the question better about hazardous properties of heavy metals.

This study is to analyze on territorial education described in geography textbooks in Korea and Japan. The following is the result that shows similarities and differences of the geography textbooks when it comes to territorial education. Korea and Japan have a contrasting territorial background. However, both countries start their territorial education by learning the location and shape of their country. Japanese geography textbooks focus on what people in the world think of Japan, but in case of Korea, the geography textbooks focus on how Koreans look at the world. In short, the territorial education in Japan try to emphasize Japan from the view point of the world. The next common ground is that the two countries provide territorial models in their geography textbooks in order to increase understanding. However, the Japanese students are provided with these territory models much earlier than Korean students and these models help them visualize and solidify their concept of territory. And, the two countries both put great importance on teaching territorial sea. In Japan, they try to include EEZ(Exclusive Economic Zone) in their territory. Considering these facts, it can be concluded that Japan is enlarging their concept of national territory as maritime territory. Lastly, after learning of territory the two countries both treat on territorial problems. But Korea treats passively territorial problem as such Dokdo, but Japan treats actively their territorial problems. Like that, the contents of territorial education described in geography textbooks in Korea and Japan are similar in terms of selection, but differ in quality in terms of organization. Therefore, future territorial education in Korea will be actively and successively done through succession and sequence of geography curriculum.

The purpose of this study is to develop theme-based integrated science unit by the interdisciplinary approach and to analyze it's effects on the science achievement and the attitude towards science learning. 'Interaction' and 'Stability' were selected as the integrated themes, and the main concept and subconcept in relation to the themes were extracted from the four areas of science, and the learning contents were constructed in the integrated ways. While the main concept have relevance to subconcept in the interaction, the main concept have little relevance to subconcept in the stability. Therefore, the stability was to fit with middle school integrated science theme, but the interaction was not. The theme-based integrated science units developed was implemented in middle school, and the results are follows. First, the science achievement of group of theme-based integrated science teaching is significantly higher than those of group of traditional teaching. Second, the scores of the test of attitude toward science learning of the group of theme-based integrated science teaching is significantly higher than those of group of traditional teaching. Third, the students' perception of theme-based integrated science teaching was positive. The students have participation, interest, motivation in theme-based integrated science teaching, and students have difficulty in learning theme-based integrated science teaching.
The purpose of this paper is to compare the effects on the students' academic achievement and satisfaction level in a Calculus course taught by two different teaching modes, blended learning and face-to-face learning. The comparison analysis was made for Calculus 2 course in H university in South Korea offered in the Spring semester of the year 2015. Calculus 2 is a Calculus course designed for the first year students who plan to choose their majors in Engineering. There were two sections of the Calculus course taught in a blended learning mode and one in a conventional face-to-face learning mode. All these three sections including e-learning parts were taught by the author. We discuss some meaningful differences in the effects by the two different teaching modes.

The purpose of this research is to examine the current state of inserting illustrations in science textbooks under the 7th Revised Educational Curriculum which is currently enforced in all grades of elementary schools, and to compare and analyze the external and internal differences in illustrations in science textbooks of elementary schools in Singapore and Korea and to present desirable direction of producing illustrations. There are not only some differences in rate of the kinds and role of the illustrations in grades, but also in both countries. For example, in the case of illustrations for motivation, in both Korea and Singapore, interesting photos related to overall contents with regard to the contents of the unit are used. But in the 3rd and 4th grade class in Singapore, story types of cartoons related to learning subjects are presented to draw students' interest and attention. These need to be considered when developing textbook illustrations in the future.
