Effects of Irrigation Time on Growth and Yield of Dioscorea batatas DECNE (관수시기(灌水時期)가 마의 생육(生育) 및 수양(收量)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • The study was conducted to determine the effects of an optimum irrigation time as af­fected by the different soil textures in Dioscorea batatas DECNE. Water content change was decreased fol­lowing orders, non - irrigation > July 15 > Aug. 15 > irrigation of two times (July 15 following Aug. 15). It was appeared that sandy loam texture was sharply decreased compared with the loam texture in water loss. Dan-Ma was preemergenced about 6 to 8 days without soil texture. Epiphytic amounts in both Dan-Ma and Jang-Ma were about two times increased at tubberous fomation and enlargement stages comparing non - irrigation. In tuber yield without soil texture, Jang-Ma was increased compared with Dan-Ma and tuber yield in loam soil texture was promoted. As a result, it was concluded that sandy loam texture has more compatible than loam soil texture.

  • 아피오스(Apios americana Medikus)는 콩과에 속하는 덩굴성 식물로 원산지는 북미대륙 중동부로 알려져 있으며 지하부의 뿌리가 변형된 괴근 부위를 식용으로 하고 있다. 아피오스의 괴근은 건물당 단백질 함량이 16.5%로 감자에 비해 3배 가량 높고 지방산 함량은 4.2~4.6% 범위로 Linoleic acid가 주를 이루고 있다. 또한 감자에 비해 칼슘 함량이 10배 가량 높고 철분함량은 2배 가량 높아 기능성 건강식품으로 유망시되고 있다. 아피오스는 일교차가 큰 준고랭지역에서도 재배가능성이 높지만 최근의 기후변화에 따라 파종기의 저온피해 등으로 안정적인 입모율의 확보가 문제시 되고 있다. 준고랭지 지역에서 아피오스의 파종시기별 출현양상 및 수량성을 구명하기 위해 표고 500m의 허브산채시험장 포장에서 2018년 4월 25일, 5월 9일, 5월 16일, 5월 28일 4회 걸쳐 흑색비닐을 피복한 1줄 재배양식으로 아피오스 괴근을 파종하였다. 파종 후 30일, 50일간의 누적 출현율은 5월 18일 파종이 파종 30일 후 52.5%를 보였으며 같은 기간 동안의 유효적산온도는 $276.9^{\circ}C$ 범위였고, 5월 30일 파종에서 파종 후 30일간의 누적 출현율은 80.4%롤 보였으며 유효적산 온도는 $329.2^{\circ}C$를 나타냈다. 파종시기별 유효적산온도와 누적 출현율 간의 관계를 나타내는 관계식은 $y=0.1155{\times}1.0415$의 지수함수로 표현할 수 있었으며, 준고랭지(남원시 운봉읍)에서 2007~2017년까지의 10년간 평균기온을 기준으로 관계식을 적용한 결과 평년 기준 5월 18일 파종하는 경우 50일간 유효적산온도는 $390.5^{\circ}C$를 보였고 출현율은 55.6%가 기대되었으며 6월 11일에는 $601.5^{\circ}C$의 적산온도로 85.3%의 출현이 예상되었다. 파종시기별 총 괴근수는 5월 30일 파종에서 17.5개/주로 유의하게 적었으며 상품 괴근중 및 상품률도 유의하게 적은 경향이었고, 출현율을 고려한 단위면적당 상품 괴근수량은 5월 18일 파종에서 602.5㎏/10a로 가장 높았고 4월 25일 파종에서 348.6㎏/10a로 가장 낮아 준고랭지 아피오스 재배에서 적정 파종시기는 5월 중순으로 판단되었다.

Occurrence of Fusarium Surface Rot on Sweet Potato Caused by Fusarium commune (Fusarium commune에 의한 고구마 표피썩음병의 발생)

  • In June 2013, surface rot symptoms were observed on sweet potatoes (Ipomoea batatas) in Yeoju city, Korea. The lesions were circular, light to dark brown, firm, dry, and superficial. The diseased area became sunken in older tissues, and the symptoms usually did not extend deeply into the flesh. Seven isolates of Fusarium species were isolated from diseased sweet potatoes. All isolates were identified as Fusarium oxysporum based on morphological characteristics on CLA medium. To confirm the identification, molecular analysis of elongation factor 1 alpha gene was conducted. Among the isolates, however, four isolates were F. commune, and three isolates were F. oxysporum based on the DNA sequence data. Pathogenicity was tested using agar block inoculation on wounded or unwounded sweet potato pieces. Lesions were observed on wounded sweet potato pieces after 7 days inoculation in only F. commune isolates. This is the first report that F. commune causes Fusarium surface rot of sweet potato in Korea.

  • 야콘의 유전자원 4계통(HLY1, HLY2, HLY3, HLY4)에 대하여 단백질, 회분, 탄수화물, 식이섬유, 비타민, 프락토올리고당 등의 영양 성분을 분석하였다. 2010년 강원도 평창군 진부면(해발고도 560 m) 시험 포장에서 5월 12일에 정식하여 10월 20일에 수확한 야콘을 시료로 사용하여 농촌진흥청 식품 분석표에 준하여 분석하였다. 야콘은 신선한 괴근 100g당 열량 44~59kcal, 수분함량이 86~87%, 회분 0.2~0.4g, 단백질 0.5~0.7g, 탄수화물 11.0~13.1g, 지방 0.1~0.2g, 식이섬유 1.4~1.7g, 칼슘 8~10mg, 인 24~31mg, 철 0~0.1mg, 나트륨 1~2mg, 칼륨 154~208mg, 레티놀 0.001~0.004mg, 카로틴 0.001~0.024mg, 티아민 0.03~0.11mg, 리보플라빈 0.02~0.03mg, 니아신 0.3~0.4mg, 아스코르브산 10.6~29.6mg이 들어 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 또한 야콘의 괴근에는 당 함량이 많았는데 생체중 100g당 프락토올리고당 5.7~10.1g, 글루코스 0.3~0.9g, 프럭토스 0.2~0.7g, 슈크로스 0.4~3.3g이 함유되어 있었다. 따라서 야콘은 베타카로틴, 칼슘, 탄수화물 등 14가지 필수영양소를 함유하고 있는 알칼리성 식품으로서 향후 기능성 식품소재로도 이용가치가 높으리라 판단된다.

Classification of Sweet Potato Varieties Based on Esterase Isozymes and Protein Patterns (Esterase 동위효소 및 단백질 패턴에 의한 고구마 품종 분류)

  • Electrophoretic method was utilized to classify 100 varieties of sweet potato germplasm maintained at the National Crop Experiment Station of Korea in 1993. The esterase isozyme patterns in the leaves were classified into 14 different types. Type Ⅸ included the most of the varieties (46) tested and Ⅶ, I, III, Ⅷ, II and V types of all included 47 varieties in order. The other 7 varieties had different band pattern with each other. Type I having many kind of band pattern included Shinyulmi, Beniastma and High starch which had the dry type of tuberous roots varieties. The esterase isozymes pattern in the tuberous roots were classified with 18 kinds of types. The C type included 22 varieties and B, K, A, E, I and N in order. The proteins pattern in the tuberous roots were classified with 7 kinds of types. I type included 36 varieties, and IV type included 27 varieties and II, III, Ⅶ and Ⅵ types in order.

Growth Root Tuber and Economic Yields of Chinese Yam and Their Relationship as Affected by Tuber Head Origin and Fertilizer Application Method (두부종류와 여비방법에 따른 장마의 생육, 괴근수량 및 상품성과 이들간의 관계)

  • Chinese yam (Dioscorea Opposita Thanb) has been cultivated as medicinal crop and food. The experiment was carried out to determine the effect of tuber head origin and fertilizer application method on its agronomic characters of shoot and root tuber to get some imformation on its cultivation. The tuber head cultivated were cut from normal or branched root tuber. 37-28-32-2000 : N-P-K-Humus(Kg/10a) by dispersal but 30% N reduction of Con(RN) or strip application on the two-side of hill(SRN), were applied but N and K were given by the above method with the rate of 40% in March, 30% in June and 30% in July. Agronomic characteristics related to shoot and root tuber were measured and their relationship was analyzed. Tuber head origin had no effect on emergence rate, vine length, branch and node of vine, while emergence date of the tuber head from the normal root which showed the greatest emergence rate, vine length and node in Con treatment was earlier than the others. The tuber head from the normal root, furthermore, had greater length and diameter of root tuber harvested from the field and fresh weight per plant of per 10a compared to the tuber head from the branched root, whereas in both the normal and the branched tuber head RN had the worst result in the characters related to tuber yield except tuber diameter. The tuber head from the normal root produced heavier root tuber than that from the branched tuber and SRN had the best economic yield among the application methods, which resulted from production of less branched root tubers and their rate. In both the normal and the branched tuber head, moreover, yield per plant and economic yield were positively correlated to tuber length but negatively done to number. of branch of vine.

Evaluation of the Growth and Yield of Sweetpotato (Ipomoea batatas L.) at Different Growth Stages under Low Light Intensity (생육시기별 차광 처리에 의한 고구마 생육 및 수량성 평가)

  • This study was conducted to determine the degree of reduction in the yield of sweetpotato subjected to different shading treatments according to the growing season of the typical viscous sweetpotato 'Hogammi' and the powdery sweetpotato 'Jinyulmi'. Shading was provided using commercially available shading nets (55% and 75% shading level), and the treatments were applied at the following stages of storage root growth: SFS: the storage root formation stage (planting-50th day), SSS: the storage root swelling stage (50-90th day), and SAS: the storage root actively swelling Stage (90-120th day). The growth characteristics according to shading treatments during each growth period, the number of tubers obtained at harvest, and sugar contents were investigated. For both assessed cultivars, there was no significant difference between the control group and the 55% shading treated group with respect to the maximum quantum yield (Fv/Fm) of photosystem II under different shading treatments, whereas the 75% shading group showed slightly higher values than the control group. In both cultivars, the contents of chlorophyll a and b tended to increase in plants subjected to shading treatments compared with the control plants, particularly that of chlorophyll b. Compared with the control group, the chlorophyll b content of 'Hogammi' subjected to 55% and 75% shading increased by 47% and 41%, respectively, whereas that of 'Jinyulmi' increased by 39% and 34%, respectively. We also detected reductions in the dry weights of the above- and belowground parts of the two varieties in response to shading compared with the control, with the reduction in the dry weight of belowground parts being significant. Furthermore, in both varieties, the T/R rate tended to increase in response to shading treatment. Owing to the lack of sunlight, both cultivars tended to suppress the formation and enlargement of tuber roots. Consequently, post-harvest yield analysis revealed that under shading treatments, both cultivars were characterized by poor tuber root growth according to growing season, with the yield of 'Hogammi' showing a greater reduction compared with that of 'Jinyulmi'. In addition, we found that the higher shading level also significantly reduced yields. Compared with the storage root formation and storage root actively swelling stages, shading treatments during the storage root swelling stage significantly affected yield reduction in both varieties.

Effects of Nitrogen Levels and Split Application Ratio on Growth and Yield in Liriope platyphylla WANG et TANG (맥문동(麥門冬)의 질소수준(室素水準)과 분시비솔(分施比率)이 생육(生育)과 수량(收量)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • To investigate proper method of nitrogen application, six levels of nitrogen fertilizer and five different split applications were tested in Liriope platyphylla. Leaf length and content of total nitrogen in plant increased with the increase of nitrogen application level from zero to 360kg per ha. Number and weight of tuber increased with the increase of nitrogen level and tuber production reached to highest level of 4.44M/T per ha with the level of 220kg nitrogen. And then, tuber production decreased with the addition of extra nitrogen fertilizer to level of 360kg per ha. In the research of proper nitrogen split application, tuber yield (3.52M/T per ha) was increased by 18% at the combination of 40% basal application and three times of top dressing, than that of 100% basal application.

Optimization of anthocyanidin extraction conditions from sweet potato tips and tuber (고구마 끝순 및 괴근의 안토시아니딘 추출 조건 최적화)

  • In this study, the optimum conditions were established for anthocyanidin extraction from sweet potato tips and tubers. The dependent variables of ethanol concentration (X1), citric acid concentration (X2), and extraction temperature (X3) were designed using a central composite design. All three variables significantly affected anthocyanidin extraction, and the influence of X1 was greater than that of X2 and X3. The highest anthocyanidin content in tips and tubers were 26.58±0.07 and 117.32±0.39 mg/100 g at 50% (X1), 0.3% (X2), and 50℃ (X3), respectively. The optimal extraction conditions for the tips were 56.10% (X1), 0.25% (X2), and 52.24℃ (X3) and tubers were 55.08% (X1), 0.30% (X2), and 53.06℃ (X3). The predicted values under optimal extraction conditions were 27.45 and 119.61 mg/100 g, and the experimental values were 27.09±0.11 and 118.72±0.67 mg/100 g, respectively. The extraction conditions were validated by comparing the predicted and actual values with those of 98.69 and 99.26%, respectively.
