Low-Cost Hologram Module for Optical Pickup by Adjusting Photodiode Package (포토 다이오드 조정방식을 이용한 광 픽업용 저가 홀로그램 모듈)

  • We proposed a new and cost-effective method fer assembling holographic pickup modules without any high resolution vision system. Assembling was accomplished by adjusting photodiode package only, leading to a low cost, holographic pickup module. Focus and tracking error signals were simply determined by comparing spot sizes and by using the 3 beam method, respectively, based on four-sectional holographic optical elements. In experiment, we assembled a hologram module and estimated performance of the proposed method fur a holographic pickup module used in compact disc system.

  • 미래 정보와 시대에서 중추적인 역할을 할 광관련 멀티미디어 장비들은 최근 관련 산업계에서 주목을 받기 시작하고 있고 특히 기존 VTR(Video Tape Recorder) 시장을 대체할 차세대 DVDR(Digital Video Disk Recorder)는 기술전쟁이라고 할 정도로 선진 기업의 연구가 치열해지고 있다. DVDR 시스템에서는 필요한 정보들을 레이저빔을 이용한 광학신호로 바꾸어 광디스크에 기록, 재생하는 광픽업이 절대적으로 필요하게 된다. 그런데 광픽업의 위치추종기구인 Actuator는 정확한 위치추종(.+-.1.$\mu$m 오차이내)을 할 수 있는 성능이 요구되며 서보의 특성상 20KHz 이하에서 불필요한 모우드가 가진되지 않는 정밀부품이어야 하므로 Actuator 각 부품의 동적인 특성을 명확히 규명할 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 우선 Actuator 각 부품과 가동부 전체의 중량 및 진동해석을 통해 동특성을 조사하였다. 그리고 Actuator의 중요한 기본성능중 하나인 구동감도 확보여부를 검토할 필요가 있기 때문에 유한요소법 프로그램인 ANSYS를 이용하여 자기회로 부분에 대한 해석을 구하였다. 또한 가동부와 자기회로 등 하위부품을 조립하는 과정에서 발생하는 조립오차로 인해 불필요한 공진과 회전형상이 야기될 수 있으므로 동특성 및 문제점 파악을 위한 민감도 분석이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 가동부의 관성 모멘트 값과 강체에 대한 일반식을 이용한 자체 프로그램을 작성하여 조립공차를 구하였다. 이와같은 과정을 통해 구해진 설계값을 바탕으로 실제 제작된 Actuator에 대해서는 비접촉식 측정방법을 통해 동특성값을 측정하였고 이를 해석값과 상호 비교하였다.동강성행렬법(dynamic stiffness matrix method)을 이용하여 해석하고자 한다. 수준임이 입증되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로우리나라 젊고 건강한 남성에게 적합한 무게상수는 작업자군에 대하여 25.05kg, 학생군에 대하여 20.24kg 으로 나타나 이는 미국 NIOSH 안전기준과 대체로 일치함을 발견하였다.ive structures utilized in Client/server architecture for distribution and cooperative processing of application between server and client this study presents two different data management methods under the Client/server environment; one is "Remote Data Management Method" which uses file server or database server and. the other is "Distributed Data Management Method" using distributed database management system.   • In this study, the fabrication of large area silicon mirror is accomplished by anisotropic etching using MEMS for implementation of integrated optical pickup and the process condition is also established for improving the mirror surface roughness. Until now, few results have been reported about the production of highly stepped $9.74^{\circ}$ off-axis-cut silicon wafer using wet etching. In addition rough surface of the mirror is achieved in case of long etching time. Hence a novel method called magnetorheolocal finishing is introduced to enhancing the surface quality of the mirror plane. Finally, areal peak to valley surface roughness of mirror plane is reduced about 100nm in large area of $mm^2$ and it is applicable to optical pickup using infrared wavelength.

  • A new type actuator has been designed and investigated to overcome thermal problems in slim optical disc drive which is adopted in mobile storage devices. Recently, in optical storage device technical trends, the size of optical disc drives is slimmer to adopt notebook computer and the spindle rotate velocity is faster to achieve high transfer rate and the power of actuator is higher to perform tilting, etc. However, these trends of optical disc drives tend to raise the environment temperature of drives, actuator power and parts temperature. Moreover, it is more difficult to remove the heat inside a drive and the temperature of an actuator increases and drive slims. As a result, increase of surface temperature of actuator body caused that second resonance of an actuator moves down to a lower frequency band and the performance of optical parts also deteriorates. Especially objective lens, coil and magnet of the actuator parts are easily damaged. To manage these thermal problems, in this paper an actuator with a hybrid blade, which is composed of vectra which has low thermal conductivity and magnesium which has high thermal conductivity, has been suggested and verified. Despite the high temperature environment, the proposed actuator showed good dynamic performance.

  • An asymmetric actuator can be used to reduce the distance between the reflective mirror and objective lens of a small optical disk drive for use in the notebook-sized personal computer data storage devices. However, this asymmetric actuator is very sensitive to the subsidiary resonance which is caused by its rigid body motion. In this paper, an analytical approach using a simple lumped parameter system model is presented with a physical insight to investigate why the subsidiary resonance occurs. The finite element method is used to figure out the force and torque characteristics of the asymmetric actuator which are essential to understand the subsidiary vibration characteristics. The frequency responses are presented to examine how the subsidiary resonance is altered for various situations of having different thickness of a yoke and permanent magnet and of having a different magnet circuit. Finally, the design guidelines to avoid the subsidiary resonance will be presented.

  • Recently, as the infocomindustry is developed, the semiconductor industry as well as the optical industry such as the optical communication and the optical instrument is developed rapidly. The transmission, storage and processing of information has been reaching an limit because amounts of information increase rapidly. The more quickly the optical communication is developed, the more sharply the demand of optical elements increase. The transport and inspection process is time consuming and the error rate is high, because this process are not automated in case of an optical lens. In this paper, the pick-up system that can hold optical elements and be transferred by the ultrasonic transport system is developed. The inspection system that distinguishes between the existence and the nonexistence of a defect is connected easily to pick-up system. The pick-up system separates the optical glass lens by results of the inspection. The automation program is developed by visual c++ programming.

  • A large area micro mirror is an optical element that functions as changing an optical path by reflection in integrated optical system. We fabricated the large area silicon mirror by anisotropic etching using MEMS for implementation of integrated optical pickup. In this work, we report the optimum conditions to better fabricate and design, greatly improve mirror surface quality. To obtain mirror surface of $45^{\circ},\;9.74^{\circ}$ off-axis silicon wafer from (100) plane was used in etching condition of $80^{\circ}C$ with 40wt.% KOH solution. After wet etching, polishing process by MR fluid was applied to mirror surface for reduction of roughness. In the next step, after polymer coating on the polished Si wafer, the Si mirror was fabricated by UV curing using a trapezoid bar-type way structure. Finally, we obtained peak to valley roughness about 50 nm in large area of $mm^2$ and it is applicable to optical pickup using blu-ray wavelength as well as infrared wavelength.

  • The demands of high data transfer rate and high recording density in optical disk memory device are being increased. In this paper, 4 design parameters for next generation optical disk are investigated. As for the high data transfer rate, two design parameters such as driving acceleration and transmissibility are introduced. As the high recording density is concerned, the minimum linearity and the tilt of the actuator are introduced. Two kinds of pickup actuator are used to evaluate the validity of the parameters through the simulation and the experiment. The 4-wire actuator has good linearity but bad stability and tilt characteristics, while the rotary and axis actuator has good stability for the external vibration but bad linearity. It is demonstrated that the newly proposed design parameters are available to design and evaluate quantitatively the performance of the actuator for the next generation optical disk.

  • DVD, HD(High Density)-DVD등의 고밀도 광 디스크의 광 기록재생장치는 고 개구율(Numerical Aperature)의 대물렌즈로 집광 빔의 크기를 소형화하여 기록용량을 증대시키고 있다. 이 경우 광축과 광 디스크의 기록면에 대한 경사는 광학적인 수차가 발생되어 신호 레벨의 저하나 기록시의 피트(pit) 형성의 오류, Crosstalk등의 문제가 발생한다. 이를 극복하기 위해 직접 디스크의 경사에 따라 제어할 수 있는 픽업 구동기가 제안되어 왔지만 주로 Half Height(12.7mm)에 사용되는 틸트 구동기였으며 Slim(6.3mm)형 틸트 구동기는 제안되지 못하였다.
