  • In this paper we present an indoor propagation model for indoor wireless LAN service in the ISM band. We primarily use a 3D ray tracing as well as a patch scattering model in order to take into account the indoor fixtures. Therefore input parameters such as indoor environment parameters and antenna's types, polarizations are considered. As the results, we present fading characteristics and rms delay spread from time delay spread. In order to investigate the accuracy of the presented model, comparisons of predictions with measurement and simulations are performed in indoor wireless LAN service environments. The results show that measurements and simulations are very similar. Therefore in this paper, the effect of presented indoor propagation model is confirmed.

  • We have developed an algorithm to determine the position from the image points in a lensmeter with 6-sided prism lens. The positions of the image points which are formed by six prisms depends on the decenter position of a test lens and can be calculated by skew ray tracing. The optical characteristics of the lens meter was analyzed using the Code V program and the positions of the image points was expressed as a function of the decenter position of the test lens. By minimizing the expectation error, we can determine the decenter position position of a test lens from the image positions.

  • A method is described to produce off-axis hologram lenses without astigmatism for semiconductor lasers. We fabricated a holographic collimating lens by using dichromated gelatin film with high diffraction efficiency and without astigmatism which makes a collimated off-axis beam of semiconductor laser. We have designed the holographic collimating lens by applying the classical ray-tracing method to holographic diffraction. The elimination of astigmatism is obtained by choosing appropriate angles of recording and reconstruction beams. The hologram is recorded by use of Ar^{+}$ laser (488nm wavelength) and reconstructed by semiconductor laser(670nm wavelength). The physical parameters of recording and reconstruction angles, wavelength, and astigmatism are analytically calculated and experimentally confirmed.

  • This study is involved to develop new catalysts to decompose plastics, detergents and surfactants containing synthetic peptide bonds. As the first year research, the catalytic-hydrolysis of amide bond in copper complex was accomplished. The hydrolysis reaction in aqueous solution was monitored by UV/VIS spectroscopy. As the pH of the solution Is increased and the temperature is raised, the reaction rate increases. The reaction rate is observed as the first order kinetic behavior for the copper complex. The metal catalyzed hydrolysis mechanism is proposed cia metal-hydroxide in the pH region of 5.5 to 6.3. The results of characterization of the catalytic reaction mechanism can be applied to develop new catalysts for peptide bond degradation in further research.

  • In this paper, we describe an abvanced medical diagnostic system using multimedia technologies in netwok environments. In the system, docotors in remote sites perorm medicl diagnosis by exchanging information about patients and 3-D medicl images of malfunctioning body parts, which are reconstructed from 2-D images such as MRI, CT, CR, Angio. The diagnosic conferencing system controls the conferencing process by exchanging audio, information about patients, 3-D medical images and control data. 3-D medicl images are reconstructed by a ray casting method that uses an nalytical integration. Medical databae conists of absic information about patients, Information about medicl images, users, results of dianosis.

  • In this paper, an efficient method is proposed to produce photorealistic images of woven fabrics without empirical data such as the measured BRDFs(bidirectional reflectance distribution functions). The proposed method is applicable both to ray tracer based offline renderers and to realtime applications such as games. The proposed method models the reflectance properties of woven fabric with alternating anisotropy and deformed MDF(microfacet distribution function). The procedural modeling of the yarn structure effectively and efficiently reproduces plausible rendering of woven fabric. The experimental results show the proposed method can be successfully applied to photorealistic rendering of diverse woven fabric materials even in interactive applications.

  • A focal length-correcting lens called the F-theta lens is required to compensate for the different focus on spot size due to the deflected incident laser beam. The F-theta lens was designed by the ray tracing method and fabricated by a 3D printer with polymer-based material. The designed F-theta lens is able to compensate for the focus on spot size by an incidence angle of 0 to 2 degrees. Based on the analysis of the simulation, there was almost no aberration in the $0^{\circ}C$ incidence angle, and the maximum of $50{\mu}m$ of aberration was observed at the incidence angle of $2^{\circ}$. Diffraction-encircled energy was analyzed to characterize the designed optics, and an image simulation was performed to confirm the actual image resolution.

  • The fabrication of a focal length-correcting lens called the F-theta lens was performed by a 3D printer. The fabricated lenses were characterized by transmittance and reflectance measurements. The optical properties of the lens, such as scattering or transmittance efficiency, were analyzed with respect to the wavelength (red, green, and blue) and the surface roughness of the lens. There was almost no shape aberration on the focus location of 0 degrees, but elliptical focus shapes were found at 1 and 2 degrees of the laser incidence angle. The developed process is expected to be used for the quick fabrication of lenses with low costs and quick turn-out. By improving the surface roughness during postprocessing, the optical properties are expected to be comparable to commercial lens quality.

Methods: We collected clinical data of eye-optical parameters of males in their age of 40, 50, and 60 from previous studies, and designed schematic eyes for presbyopia using the ZEMAX program. Results: The presbyopic process and features of the designed schematic eyes well accorded with the clinical data of previous studies. Conclusions: On the basis of the Navarro eye model, a finite schematic eyes for presbyopia were newly designed corresponding with clinical data.

  • In the design of optical system, important variables of optical system (including indices, shapes, spaces, stops. etc.) must manipulate in order to balance out offensive aberration. In this paper, it carried out a basic study on the design of micro optical system usable for the acquaintance of visual information in the particular conditions such as capsule type endoscopes. In this study, specification for design of optical system selected voluntarily and the basic design of optical system carried out by using the ray tracing method on the assumption that ideal lenses without aberrations. In the designed optical system, the optimization including aberration correction and the performance evaluation of optical system carried out by using the CODE-V. The final designed optical system consists of seven sheets of lenses. Also the results of performance evaluation. the micro optical system combined with aspherical lenses was confirmed to have improved optical performance as compared with the micro optical system consisted of spherical lenses.
