  • This study investigates the degree of intention-behavior gap in the entertainment tourism. Using the sample of international visitors to South Korea, we identified the inclined actor (who are interested in the entertainment performance and actually went to the entertainment performance) and inclined abstainer (who are interested in the entertainment performance but did not go to the entertainment performance). The results of logistic regression analysis show that the sample was more accurately classified when attitude and knowledge on K-entertainment were included as explanatory variables. More findings and implications are provided.

  • This study investigated the effects of music and actor evaluation on musical watching intention by performing a survey on 187 undergraduate and graduate students in Korea and China. Controlling respondents' gender, major, interests on arts, annual number of musicals attended and musical participation motivation grouped by music and actor, we found three things. First, a high evaluation of music and actor leads to high watching intention. Second, when a person is motivated by music, high evaluation on music increases the watching intention, but this is not the case for the actor. Third, Chinese people do not show any interaction effects of watching motivation between musical evaluation and watching intention. In conclusion, people are found to have a greater musical watching intention when they are motivated by music and evaluate high on music, rather than when they are motivated by the actor and evaluate high on actor. Also, the differential effects of evaluation on the musical do not exist in China, where a different musical participation culture prevails.

In addition, the effect of the survey subjects' degree of involvement to musicals between the satisfaction of the online platform-based musical viewing method and recommendation intention, and rewatching intention was investigated. Satisfaction factors of online platform musicals, which are independent variables, were classified into image quality, convenience, economy, and interactivity, and dependent variables were classified into recommendation intention and rewatching intention of online platform musicals, and moderator variable was set to degree of involvement to musicals, and a total of 20 hypotheses were established. An online survey was conducted on 1,454 audiences who had experience watching musicals through the online platform from August 28 to September 7, 2021, and a total of 1,418 answers were used as valid samples. As a result of the analysis, the factors that make up the satisfaction of online platform musicals appeared in the order of convenience, video quality, economics, and interactivity. It was found that the satisfaction level of watching online platform musicals had a positive effect on the intention to recommend and rewatching online platform musicals in the path of all satisfaction factors. It was found that the moderating effect of the audience's involvement in musicals between online platform musical viewing satisfaction and recommendation intention and rewatching intention had a significant effect only between image quality and recommendation intention. It shows that audiences with high involvement in musicals have intention to recommend only when they are satisfied with the video quality of online platform musicals. Particularly important point is that the convenience factor was found to have the greatest influence on the satisfaction of online platform musical viewing method, but the image quality factor was found to have the greatest influence on the recommendation intention and rewatching intention of online platform musicals.

  • This paper investigated Korean popular entertainment (K-entertainment, hereafter) tourism using theory of intention-behavior. Dividing the sample of international visitors to Seoul into the groups of "inclined actors", "inclined abstainers", and "disinclined abstainers," we examined the factors affecting such a division. The results showed that between the inclined actors and the inclined abstainers, there was no significant difference in the years of exposure to K-entertainment contents or the frequency of going to K-entertainment performance in the past. In contrast, the inclined actors were found to have a greater level of knowledge, ability, and cooperation compared to the inclined abstainers. In addition, we found that the K-entertainment performance in Korea was perceived as a substitute, rather than a complement to the performance held elsewhere in the world. Our findings suggest that interests in K-entertainment alone are not sufficient to drive the international visitors' intention to the action of attending K-entertainment performance during their visit to Korea. To this end, this study implies that it is necessary to design attractive tourism packages that include K-entertainment performance.
