The purpose of this study was to investigate studesnts' attitudes toward computers and science subject using CAI(Computer-Assisted Instruction) as an instructional strategy in the elementary school level of science and computer literacy course. The influence of CAI programs on learner's attitudes toward computers and science varied according to the variables of,(l)sex (2)experience by computer learning, (3)learner's attitudes toward computers and science. Eighty nine samples were divided into the two groups. One group(48 studesnts)which is in the experimental group took a science instruction using CAI programs and computer literacy course, another group which is in the control group took only a science instruction using CAI programs. Data were collected and compared the experimental group with the control group. The results indicate as follows:(l) studesnts took science instruction using the CAI programs appeared a positive attitudes toward science. (2) the science attitudes of science instruction using the CAI programs was more effective in the lower group than in the upper group. (3) computer literacy course produced the positive attitude toward computers regardless of the experience by computer learning. (4) students using CAI programs with computer literacy course were more effective than students using CAI program only. (5) science instruction using the CAI programs was not found a meaningful difference by sex.

The purpose on this study is to identify how effectively experiential learning involving eco-activities make changes in environmental literacy and scientific attitude of elementary students by categorizing those activities into 5 fields of "marine", "rivers", "ecosystem", "climate" and "recycling" and applying those scheme specifically to 5th graders in a elementary school. The conclusion of this study is following. Firstly, after scientific attitude are applied to subjects, a significant disparity was found between experiment group and control group throughout all parts of environmental literacy. In the cognitive category, each specialist concerning his or her own topic was invited to educate the students, and subsequently a positive impact was detected in the category of environmental issue knowledge. In behavioral category, having eco-activities made a significant disparity in all sub-categories of environmental function, active participation, saving activities, recycling activities and so forth. Secondly, experiential learning involving eco-activities made a significant disparity between the two groups in terms of Scientific Attitude, showing effectiveness in all sub-categories except curiosity.

This study aims to analyze criteria and characteristics for preservice elementary teachers' critiques of their peers' inquiry-based instruction. This study reviews critiques written by 31 preservice elementary teachers enrolled in an elementary school science inquiry methods course wherein the teachers designed and implemented inquiry-based instruction. These preservice teachers participated in inquiry-based instruction as if they were elementary students and then evaluated their peers' instruction. Analysis of the critiques reveals that preservice teachers evaluated their peers' instruction on the following criteria: instruction context, science content, teaching strategies, students, instructional goals, non-verbal attitude, and assessment. Their beliefs about teaching science inquiry were reflected in the critiques. Additionally, it was found that four orientation for teaching inquiry-didactic, academic rigor, activity-driven, inquiry orientation-reflected in critiques; some of critiques held more than one of these orientations. And they did not merely criticize but suggested alternatives to general teaching strategies; furthermore, of inquiry-instruction specific teaching strategies. They showed higher epistemic understanding of inquiry-based instruction after mid-term demonstrations. The evidence demonstrated that the proportion of critiques specifically about inquiry-based instruction increased after the mid-term demonstrations. Moreover, the post mid-term critiques emphasized interaction between students as well as understanding of the nature of science. These findings could provide implication for teaching inquiry and criticizing others' instruction as part of elementary school science courses in preservice elementary teacher education.
In this study, a restriction enzyme mapping inquiry experiment was developed for cultivating basic knowledge on molecular biology and the effects on inquiry experiment ability and positive experience on science through student-centered molecular biology inquiry experiment class for second graders of a general high school was analyzed. First of all, it was found that the experimental class through the inquiry experiment was significantly effective as the percentage of high school students who answered 'yes' or higher in the positive science experience of general high school students was higher after than before the test. As a result of developing and applying a series of five classes for the creation of restriction enzyme maps, not only did the students' interest in science studies, but also their class participation increased. They were also used as effective specific science learning motives, science career aspirations and experience data. The science environment of the inquiry experiment class led to the improvement of students' learning attitudes and positive science experience, which had a positive effect on the importance of class concentration and class quality, active communication and mutual cooperation among students. In addition, inquiry and experiment classes will provide opportunities for career experience, which will become the foundation for cultivating basic knowledge on molecular biology and advancing to science and engineering.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the 2015 revised Science Curriculum and Environment Curriculum, and to provide implications for the correlation and complementarity between the two standards. For the analysis of the curriculum, the contents system of the two standards was reorganized based on the four categories of knowledge, attitude, inquiry, participation and practice, which are common literacy elements of science and environment, based on previous studies. Content Analysis was performed on content elements and detailed performance expectation. As a result of this study, there was a difference in terms of the core competencies and goals. The Environment Curriculum emphasized sustainable development and social participation while the Science Curriculum emphasized scientific inquiry and literacy. The contents system analysis results according to the four literacy factors are as follows. First, in terms of attitude, both standards deal with research ethics in common. However Environment Curriculum values learners' values and views on the environment more than Science Curriculum which emphasizes the science attitude as science investigators. Second, there was a serious problem in the knowledge linkage between two standards. In same grade groups, the level of content knowledge dealt in two standards was not consistent. Third, in the inquiry aspect, the Environment Curriculum deals with interdisciplinary topics in the purposefully designed inquiry unit, whereas the Science Curriculum presents various research activities based on related science concepts in every unit. Fourth, in the participation and practice aspect, the Environment Curriculum focused on participation and practice while the Science Curriculum focused on sustainable science and technology development and improvement, scientific interest and decision-making ability. This study provide implications for education for sustainable development(ESD) by providing the complementary potentials between Science Curriculum and Environment Curriculum.

In recent years, there has been an increased emphasis on performance assessment to evaluate students' abilities. Our nation has introduced a change in testing and assessment. Additional work on the efficacy, reliability, and comparability in order to develop the performance assessment item has been needed in the enforcement of the 7th National Science Curriculum. Also, criteria for professional and technical standards has been needed to be developed. The purpose of this study was to draw out various key concepts and to develop achievement standards, assessment standards and performance assessment items based on the 7th National Science Curriculum on the subject matter of reproduction(chapter 13) and biological accumulation(chapter 17). And also, this study examined the validity of completed performance assessment items based on classical test theory and polytomous item response theory. Twelve key concepts in chapter 13(reproduction) and four from chapter 17(biological accumulation) were abstracted. Twenty-six achievement standards in chapter 13(reproduction), and nine in chapter 17(biological accumulation) were developed. The achievement standards were determined in terms of knowledge(K), process skill(P) and attitude(A). Twenty-five assessment standards in chapter 13(reproduction) and nine in chapter 17(biological accumulation) were developed. Based on the developed achievement standards and assessment standards, twenty-two performance assessment items(seventeen open-ended questions, three essays, and two portfolios) with concrete grading criteria were developed. Eight open-ended items were applied to 240 10th graders to evaluate reliabilities of the test which consisted of four items per each chapter. The results would be suggested that the applied items were valid for performance assessment because item difficulties and item discriminations were proper. There was not much differences in item discrimination between interpretation from classical test theory and that from polytomous item response theory. However, there were some differences in item difficulties between the interpretations of two theories because the characteristics of examinees were reflected in classical test theory.
