Development of a VR Juggler-based Virtual Reality Interface for Scientific Visualization Application (과학적 가시화 어플리케이션을 위한 VR Juggler 기반 가상현실 인터페이스 개발)

  • In this paper, we introduce a virtual reality interface for scientific visualization applications. Our VR interface is based on an open-source framework called VR Juggler. Although VR Juggler has its own advantages, it lacks some of the important functionalities needed for practical applications - event handling, synchronization and data sharing among cluster nodes, to name a few. We explain how these issues are resolved while developing the VR interface. Also, a new interface with a smart device, which replaces the virtual reality input device, is introduced. Finally, system usability test results are provided to prove the effectiveness of the proposed interfaces.

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the factors influencing satisfaction level of consumers using internet shopping mall to purchase agricultural products and to check relationship between satisfaction factor and intention in current situation of fast diffusion of market size for agricultural product e-commerce. Purchase motivation in internet shopping mall was shown to be the reason of convenience rather than confidence degree for agricultural product consumers. Consumer satisfaction factor of agricultural product internet shopping mall can be distinguished by confidence in service quality, diversity of products, delivery and customer support, and security. The result of this research will help us understand the determination factor of consumer satisfaction and their intention about internet shopping, while finding out what consumers expect from internet shopping when purchasing agricultural products.

Teaching-Learning Effects Using Self-Regulated Learning Strategy: For Students of Scientific High School (자기조절학습 전략을 이용한 교수-학습 효과:과학고 학생들을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the teaching-learning effects in the experimental classes for the 'Redox' unit of science textbook of 11th grade using self-regulated learning strategy. Simultaneously, the effects of teaching-learning through the student's characteristics of the scientific high school were also included. The experimental and the controlled groups were selected by the teaching-learning method established on self-regulated learning strategy and regular laboratory activity based on the teacher' instruction, respectively. The questionaries of the scientific inquiry and scientific attitude were examined by the student. For their achievement, the total score which was obtained from the formative evaluation and performance assessment was utilized. After the laboratory activity for the unit grounded on the self-regulated learning strategy, the mean values of the scientific inquiry, scientific attitude, and achievement by the experimental group were higher than those of the controlled group. There was significant difference between the two groups in the post-test. By the results of the post-test for the experimental group, there has been somewhat relationship between the self-regulated learning strategy and the scientific inquiry, the scientific attitude, and the scientific achievement.

An Analysis of Middle School Students' Perceptions and Learning Satisfaction in SMART Learning-based Science Instruction (스마트러닝 기반 과학수업에 대한 중학생들의 인식과 학습만족도 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the middle school students' perception and their learning satisfaction in SMART learning based science instruction. Three types of modules on the solar system and lunar phases unit at the middle school level were developed and lessons on each module were taught to 207 student participants. All participants were provided with tabletPC(iPad2) with iOS5 installed, and using astronomy app Solar Walk, mirroring function, QR code, and Google Presentation, the lessons were carried out both in classroom and at home. The instrument for assessing students' perception on the SMART learning-based instruction was developed based on 4 factors including Self-directed, Motivation, Adaptiveness, and Technology Embedded, with a Likert scale from 1-5 on 20 items. The learning satisfaction survey instrument was originally from Keller's work (1987), and its test items were adapted and modified. To reveal the perception and learning satisfaction about SMART learning-based science lessons, the participants were comparatively analyzed by gender and science achievement levels. Results indicated that male students showed positive perception for the SMART learning-based instruction. Group with higher science achievement scores showed more positive perception of the SMART learning-based instruction in terms of Self-directed and Motivation factor. Also, the learning satisfaction of male students was higher than female students and group with higher academic ability more satisfied with the SMART learning-based instruction than the low group. The results provide implications for future development of programs and help set a direction of increasing the use of a SMART learning-based science in school.

  • This paper analyzed the improvement of cognitive level of the students and interactions which occurred in each step of free-topic scientific inquiry to help science teachers understand free-topic scientific inquiry better. Free-topic scientific inquiry is helpful to students with a deep strategic learning goal orientation type or a deep strategic ability goal orientation type in their transition (2B/3A) of cognitive levels. Most students have difficulties in the phase of establishing topics and hypotheses. The result says that the discussion techniques are improved through free-topic scientific inquiry, but the quality of interaction is not easily improved. The deep strategic learning goal orientation type concretizes opinion through interaction in free-topic scientific inquiry. The deep strategic ability goal orientation type are actively involve in the interaction, but they pay no attention to the process because they stick to the result. The surface strategic ability goal orientation type can not deepen a discussion due to high frequency of low level inquiry. However, the frequency of high level inquiry increases through free topic scientific inquiry operation. As a result, the characteristics of free-topic scientific inquiry were discussed and the educational implications of the progress of free-topic scientific inquiry and the organization of grouping were drawn.

The Use of Virtual Reality in Web-based Earth Science Education (웹기반 지구과학교육에서 가상현실 기술의 활용)

  • The experimental side of earth science contains a lot of variables that cannot be controlled in the classroom or in the laboratory. Therefore, as one method to overcome these difficulties, a learning program using 3D Virtual Reality technique has been developed. The program was used with 701 middle school students. The result showed that the program had a very positive effect on inducing interest and motivation through a sense of immersion, and it also showed to be a big help in the improvement of space perception ability.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of forth grades in elementary the environmental-friendly attitude by STSE in elementary lesson. To verify research problem, the subject of this study were forth-grade students selected from two classes of an elementary school located in Ulsan. Post-test showed following results: the research group showed a significant improvement in the environment-friendly attitude of cognitive domain and behavior domain compared with the comparison group. In conclusion, STSE program was more effective than the teacher map based teaching model on environment-friendly attitude. However, since the study has a limit on an objet of the study and the applied curriculum, the additional studies need to be conducted with an extended comparative group and curriculum.

  • 항공기 소프트웨어는 기능적 실패 시 인명피해나 재산피해와 같은 큰 사고로 이어질 수 있다. 따라서 항공기 소프트웨어 개발과정에서 엄격한 검증 프로세스를 수행하지만 오류를 완벽히 제거하는 것은 어렵다. 병행 프로그램에서 발생하는 동시성 오류는 잘못된 동기화에 의하여 공유자원을 사용할 때 발생할 수 있다. 하지만 복잡한 인터리빙을 모두 고려하여 디버깅하기 어렵기 때문에 자율적으로 수리되어야 한다. 본 논문은 항공기 소프트웨어에서 함수 호출을 기반으로 동시성 오류를 자율적으로 수리하는 기법을 제시한다. 제시하는 기법은 모니터 및 컨트롤 엔진, 순차정보 제공 엔진, 건전성 관리시스템으로 구성된다.

  • 클라우드 스토리지는 다양한 리소스에서 인터넷을 통해 데이터를 저장하고 접근하는 형태의 데이터 스토리지를 말한다. 클라우드 스토리지는 서비스 접근성, 용량 조절의 용이성이 높아 꾸준히 사용자가 증가해왔다. 특히 모바일 기기와 연동하여 자동 동기화함으로써 사용자와 관련한 다양한 데이터가 실시간으로 업·다운로드 된다. 이에 따라 클라우드 스토리지에는 디지털 포렌식 관점에서 특정 사실을 증명하거나 사건의 실마리가 되는 중요한 단서가 저장되어 있을 가능성이 크다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 클라우드 스토리지의 정의와 종류를 살펴보고 디지털 포렌식 관점에서 클라우드 스토리지의 데이터 수집 및 분석 기술에 관한 연구 동향을 분석한다. 또한, 현재 클라우드 스토리지 데이터 수집 기술의 한계를 분석하고 향후 연구 방향에 관해 논의한다.

  • 본 연구에서는 음악 데이터 베이스에서 노래의 특정 구간과 가장 유사한 구간을 검색하는 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 시스템에서는 음악을 다차원 시계열 데이터로 간주하고, 음악의 조성 차이 및 템포(tempo) 차이를 고려한 음악의 유사도 계산 방법을 사용한다. 유사도 계산의 전처리 단계에서 조성 차이를 보정하고, 비트(beat)를 검출하며, 추출된 크로마그램(chromagram)을 검출된 비트와 동기화 하여 평균한다. 이후, 동적 시간 왜곡(DTW; dynamic time warping)을 사용하여 두 구간사이의 유사도를 계산한 후 계산된 유사도 순서로 정렬된 검색 결과를 출력한다. 사용자는 제안된 시스템을 사용하여 선택 구간 유사도 검색과 자동 유사 검색 결과로 도출된 구간 쌍을 검토하여 유사 구간을 보다 쉽게 찾을 수 있다.
