  • The purpose of this study is to conduct an in-depth interview on 5 middle aged women who have attempted suicide in the past and to explore their suicide attempts and the vivid empirical value of life after the attempt. The collected data were analyzed using Giorgi's phenomenological approach. The data analysis resulted in 21 sub categories and 7 essential categories. Study participants experienced an-'selected death at the end of a cliff', 'standing on the border of life and death', 'life became clear after escaping delusion', 'working toward life once again', 're-evaluating their past life and discovering new possibilities', 'experiencing the vividness of life here', 'spiritual growth and deeper insight'. Such results offer a discussion on existence toward self-completion, and hold significance in that it increased our in depth understanding and recognition beyond the narrow perceptions of individuals who attempt suicide.

The participants for this study were 266 children of 4, 5, and 6 grades at two elementary schools in G Metropolitan City. Data were collected from September to October, 2019. The participants were assessed for academic stress, resilience, quality of life, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. As a result, factors affecting the quality of life of school-age children were academic stress (β= -.29, p<.001), extracurricular academic stress (β= -.19, p= .004), and resilience (β= .19, p<.001), this variable explained 31.2% of the quality of life of school-age children. The lower the academic stress and the higher the resilience, the higher the quality of life. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of life of school-age children, providers need to develop intervention programs that take these factors into account.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the convergence relationship regarding the effects of oral health behaviors on oral health related quality of life after conducting a self-reported survey by the convenience sampling method for 135 Vietnamese international students at J University located in JeonBuk region for 118 people excluding 17 who didn't respond well. In terms of oral health related quality of life according to oral health behavior there was a statistically significant difference in whether or not dental calculus removed over the past year(p<0.05), as a result of analyzing the effect of oral health behaviors on oral health related quality of life over the past year whether or not dental calculus removed was no(p<0.05), in the toothbrushing method it was found that the upper and lower(p<0.05) had a significant effect on oral health related quality of life. As a result it was found that some oral health behaviors affect the oral health related quality of life and it is thought that it can be used as basic data for improving the oral health of foreign students and the oral health related quality of life.

  • As forest fires' scale has increased, they have become disasters that destroy not only forests but also property, human psychological balance, and even human lives. As a result, governmental support has become a crucial part of the forest fire restoration process. Quickly restoring victims' quality of life (QOL) from not only an ecological perspective but also from their human perspective has become an important goal. Therefore, through structural equation modeling, this study analyzed effects of government support, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and resilience on 195 Uljin and Samcheok forest fire victims' QOL. In the final research model, the total standardized effect on QOL of government support to PTSD and resilience was found to have significant effect (0.417). By path, the effect of government support on QOL through resilience was verified as 0.172. Examination of the path between latent variables revealed that resilience had the greatest influence on QOL, and government support had a significant effect, thus confirming that they were the main factors affecting QOL.

  • Purpose: The aims of this were to analyse the quantitative research trends and describe the factors influencing health related to quality of life (HRQoL) and instruments used to HRQoL after Intensive care units (ICU) discharge. Methods: This study were included 84 published papers regarding HRQoL after ICU discharge from initial data to December 2015. Results: The majority of papers were performed abroad. Only 4 papers with regard to HRQoL of ICU survivors were performed by nurses. 36 studies (42.8%) were used to measure HRQoL ICU survivors using the SF-36. 29 studies (34.5%) were used to measure HRQoL at 3~6 months after ICU discharge. Older age, longer length of stay at ICU, severity of illness, anxiety and depression were main risk factors to lower HRQoL in ICU patients. Conclusions: This study provides a better understanding of quality of life follwing critical illness. Therefore, further stduy is needed to develop patient centered intervention considered patients'health status and recovery phase. Additionally, large prospective multicenter cohort studies should be required.
