Exploring the Use of Melody During RAS Gait Training for Adolescents with Traumatic Brain Injury: A Case Study (외상성 뇌손상 청소년 대상 리듬청각자극(RAS) 보행 훈련 시 선율 적용 사례)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of rhythmic auditory stimulation (RAS) on gait parameters, with and without the presence of a melody, for adolescents with traumatic brain injury (TBI). Three adolescents with TBI received a total of ten individual RAS training sessions. At pre and posttest, spatiotemporal parameters including cadence, velocity and kinematic parameters were measured using the VICON 370 Motion Analysis System. The results showed no significant difference in gait velocity between the two conditions, thus the presence of the melody condition did not impact the outcome of RAS gait training. On the other hand, all participants showed improvement in gait function after RAS training. The cadence, velocity, stride length, and symmetry were increased and the stride time was reduced after training. The motion analysis demonstrated that the movement patterns of hip and knee joints improved, as they were more similar to normal gait, which indicates that the walkings tance became more stable. The research findings indicate that rhythm is the primary factor in mediating gait functions via RAS training. This study also supports that RAS training can effectively improve the gait function for adolescents with TBI.

  • The integral Hellmann-Feynman Theorem of Parr is generalized to give a full significance to the off-diagonal form, and certain aspects of it are discussed. By use of the generalized form of the theorem, effects of configuration interaction to the crystal field theory are examined, taking perturbation energies of all order collectively into account. Thus, it is shown that there do not exist, especially when the field is strong, the radial integral which is common to all states characterized by ${\Gamma}$, S and m, and could be parametrized. If, however, one restricts the perturbing excited states only to those angularly undistorted and radially equally distorted, there results simple scaling of the crystal field parameter 10 Dq and Condon-Slater parameter $F^n$ defined within the framework of the classical crystal field theory.

  • 본 연구에서는 한국어 음성어휘의 표상이 음성정보로 이루어져 있는지 아니면 철자정보로 이루어져 있는지와, 음성어휘의 표상단위가 음절인지를 조사하였다. 연구 과제로는 형태점화기법(form priming technique)을 사용하였다. 점화 자극과 목표 자극간의 관련성 수준으로는 음운적 혹은 철자적인 것을 사용하였다. 점화 자극과 목표자극간의 간격은 50msec 이었다. 따라서 SOA 각 점화자극의 제시시간에 50msec를 합한 것이다. 연구 결과는 음운적으로 관련되어 있을 때에는 무관련 조건에 비해 느려지는 방해점화(inhibitory priming)가 나타났고 철자적으로 관련되어 있는 경우에는 촉진적점화(facilitatory priming)가 나타났다. 이런 연구 결과는 시각단어 재인 연구에서도 보이는 공통적인 현상으로 음성어휘와 시각어휘가 심성어휘표상에서는 동일한 형태를 지니고 있음을 암시한다. 또한 음운적 관련성에 의한 방해점화효과는 음운음절을 공유하고 있는 어휘 후보자간의 경쟁 때문에 나타난 것으로 해석되며, 철자관련 촉진효과는 어휘접근 전에 일어나는 과정에서 나타나는 것으로 해석된다.

  • The changes in the blood flow in the peripheral vascular system under strong pulsed magnetic fields (pMF) were studied by digital infrared thermal imaging (DITI). After pMF stimulus temperatures in stimulated area were commonly increased in both groups of age and gender. In order to reduce heat generated from coil in pMF stimulus system plastic moldings were fabricated, so that certain distance was kept between stimulus system and the skin and to prevent direct contact to the skin. It is believed that skin temperature is increased by internal electromagnetic energy stimulated the peripheral vascular system by non-contact method.

  • Ethanol extract obtained from bark, roots, stem, leaves and seeds of 30 species of plants and mushroom, Dicyophora indusiata were examined antimicrobial effect on fish pathogenic bacteria, Listoneria anguillamm, Lactococcus garvieae, Streptococcus iniae by disk method. Ethanol extract of D. indusiata was found to be the most active against all fish pathogenic bacteria in test system. Ethyl acetate fraction from ethanol extract of D. indusiata showed the strongest compared with those from other solvent fractions such as dichloromethane, n-buthanol and water. The antimicrobial effect of ethyl acetate fraction was particularly evident against S. iniae.

A Study on the Effectiveness of the Appropriability Mechanism of IT Companies (IT 기업의 전유 메커니즘 효과성에 관한 연구)

  • As the technology advances and convergence progresses, companies are increasingly interested in the appropriability mechanism. Therefore in this study tried to understand the effectiveness of the appropriability mechanism of domestic IT companies. To this end, 7 appropriability mechanisms were finally derived and empirically analyzed from a review of previous studies and experts. As a result of the analysis, the importance of lead time advantage, patent, secrecy, complementary sales and service, design registered, complementary manufacturing, and learning curve effect was shown in the order of SW companies. HW companies, the importance of patent, secrecy, lead time advantage, design registered, complementary sales and service, learning curve effect, and complementary manufacturing were shown in the order of importance. Also patent, secrecy, and lead time advantage was selected as important factors. The results of in this study are expected to be used as useful guidelines on establishing an appropriability mechanism strategy in companies.

The Effect of Private Tutoring Expenditures on Academic Performance: Evidence from Middle School Students in South Korea ('학교교육 수준 및 실태 분석 연구: 중학교' 자료를 이용한 사교육비 지출의 성적 향상효과 분석)

  • This paper examines the effect of private tutoring expenditures on academic performance of middle school students in South Korea, using data from "Analysis of the Level of School Education and Its Actual condition: Middle School". In the face of endogeneity of private tutoring expenditures, the paper employs an instrumental variable (IV) method and a nonparametric bounding method. Using both methods we show that the true effect of private tutoring on middle school students remains at most modest in Korea. The IV results suggest that a 10 percent increase in tutoring expenditure for Korean, English and math raises a student's test score of the subject at the largest by 1.24, 1.28, and 0.75 percent, respectively. The bounding results also fail to show evidence that an increase in tutoring expenditure leads to economically and statistically significant improvements in test score.

  • The importance of ICT is being emphasized in this information-oriented society. In the 7th curriculum, it is necessary to use ICT more than 10% in teaching every subjects to keep pace with this trend. The distinctive feature of the curriculum lies in the introduction of various gradations and levels of the individual students. In this paper, by designing and applying the teaching idea based on educational contents, we analyzed how it has an effect on achieving of studies. As the results of this research, we found that teaching based on educational contents made students the meaningful increasement of interest in the controlled group and according to the increasement of the achievement in studying, the improvement of teaching are confirmed.

Commonality Analysis of Context Variables for Math Teachers' Confidence (중등 수학 교사의 수업자신감 영향 변인 간 공통성 분석)

  • According to TIMSS, secondary math teachers in Korea has lower confidence compare to other countries, despite the fact that teachers' confidence of teaching is an important variable. This not only influences the student's improvement but, also the quality improvement of teachers' career. Therefore, this study explores the effect of secondary math teachers' confidence according to the context variables such as teaching years, teaching preparation, collaboration with other teachers, and teaching limitation. Additionally, these context variables' $R^2$ toward the change of teaching confidence is also included. Results indicate that teaching preparation, collaboration with other teachers, and teaching limitation contribute in the confidence of teaching. $R^2$ of the change of teaching confidence shows large contribution to teaching preparation which does not accomplish with other variables.
