Therefore, the main purpose of this research is to draw an index which is able to evaluate the mechanism of virtuous circle resulted from creating shared value(hereafter CSV). At the same time, it has attempted to analyze some limits to and real effects of CSV by the index. The paper has analyzed the CSV of certificated coffee by using the index of sustainability in the Vietnamese coffee industry. The introduction of certificated coffee showed positive effects in the order of environmental, economic and social indicators. However, the structure of closed decision-making in Vinacafe, which is a state-firm, has not able to secure enough economic profits for CSV, leading to some limits to the formation of virtuous circles in the Vietnamese certificated coffee industry.

In order to verify hypothesis, an online survey was conducted, and the main and mediate effects of the variables were verified through SPSS' Process Macro method. As a result of empirical analysis, the higher the ethical identity, altruism, and consumer effectiveness, the higher the value congruency. Altruism and consumer effectiveness had a positive impact on purchase intentions. We also find that value congruency has a significant mediating effect on the effect of socio-psychological variables on purchase intention. The results of this study provide practical values and implications for companies' need to emphasize consumers' consumption behavior as it can have a significant positive impact on society. It also suggests the importance of finding out what values consumers seek. In other words, this study can provide strategic implications for public relations plans when performing marketing activities by utilizing the values pursued by CSV in companies. Future research will provide strategic implications for promotional measures when marketing is carried out if the consumer's segment is further refined to verify the effectiveness of creating shared value.

  • The concept of Creating Shared Value (CSV) has emerged as a solution for companies' sustainable growth and social problems through collaboration of business activities and social demand. Therefore, studies on shared value creativity and measurement of companies' performances are required. However, most recent studies have applied the CSV concept to existing business models or measure shared value considering only economic value. Few studies have considered the appropriateness of applying the CSV or discussed performance measurement with respect to industry characteristics. This study selects the industry expected to have the greatest created value with applying the CSV, and then suggests measurement of performance in this industry. First, through the expert interview, the study selects one from among South Korea's 10 main industries, which is expected to solve social demand through convergence with the IT industry, and to create new value for a traditional industry. The Home Appliance industry was selected as appropriate, because it has industrial growth stagnation under the smart environment. Moreover, it is facing problems such as energy savings and environmental issues. The study goes on to suggest, based on Michael Porter's three strategic levels, measurement variables of the value creation process and performance. This study has limitations from an empirical perspective. However, as the interest of applying CSV to business is growing, it is meaningful to explore the CSV strategies activities and measurement performance based on industry-specific characteristics.

  • Porter(2011)'s CSV(Creating Shared Value) is a more strategically advanced perspective of CSR(Corporate Social Responsibility). CSV creates corporates' value by exploiting the firms' own core competence and social value of the stakeholders in the community such firms simultaneously belong to. In this points of view, CSV is more appropriate for the principles of capitalism than CSR. A case study on food producing firms that adopted the concept of CSV to their business management was conducted. Considering the characteristics of food industry, the researchers have investigate many existing cases, especially focused on the CSV activities toward rural area and agriculture. As result of the case analysis, the 'mutual firm-establishing-CSV,' which refers to the new organization established on the point of contact where corporate value and social value meet, was observed. The aspects of establishing a new organization by firms' collaborating with rural area and agriculture is different in accordance with each firm's method of creating shared value. However, the cases have common grounds that the created value is for pursuing both firms' and stakeholders' value. This study is significant, in that the study deducts implications about accompanied growth and win-win management by suggesting the establishment of firms based on CSV.

  • The main aim of the research attempts to identify value relations appropriated and realized in the coffee frontier of Vietnam by investigating the ways in which it is integrated into coffee global value chains driven by multinational companies, and to provide some implications of the integration of the frontier into sustainable coffee global value chains for creating shared value in Dak Lak, Vietnam. Recently Dak Lak has gone through the transition of value relations from exploitative value chains based upon conventional coffee production into shared value chains relied upon the production of sustainable or certified coffee in Dak Lak. The transition has been expected to result in sustainability in the creation of value by enhancing regional competitive advantages and regional bargaining power in global value chains driven by multinational companies. However, the reality has shown the intensification of hierarchical profits allocation among stakeholders such as farmer, middlemen, and multinational companies in the region. The main reasons for this could be found in two perspectives. Firstly, the formation of exclusive relations among farmers, middlemen, and processors has led to stakeholders to secure market, but resulted in the intensification of hierarchy among them in global value chain, because multinational companies could control indirectly over the farming system through exclusive middlemen. Secondly, social and ecological costs imputed by multinational companies to coffee farmers in the name of creating shared value has deteriorated the economic profits of stakeholders such as farmers and middlemen. As a result, it has led to the configuration of systematically hierarchical and subordinated global value chain in Dak Lak.
