Estimation of Economic Value of the Performance Industry (공연산업의 경제적 파급효과 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze how much performance industry contribute to national economy by measuring economic effects of performance industry. To achieve the purpose of the study, the study uses an performance industry(theater, music and other arts, 390 sectors) Input-Output Table of yaer 2009 of korea bank. The results shows that performance industry induce 391.6 trillion won in the national production, 65.1 trillion won in the income inducement, 16.3 trillion won in the tax inducement. Especially the performance industry shows that production inducement coefficient is 1,387, Index of the power of dispersion is 0.020, index of the sensitivity of dispersion is 0.025, value-added inducement coefficient is 0.662, income inducement coefficient is 0.455, tax inducement coefficient is 0.046 and employment inducement coefficient is 0.010.

  • Performing arts is an intangible arts that disappears immediately at the moment it is presented and remains only in the memory of the performer's body and audience. The same repetition, restoration and reproduction of the disappeared performance is impossible, but artists of all times and places have tried various recording methodology to leave their performances in the tangible form. The performing arts archive is where performing arts are recorded, preserved, and utilized. In the fourth industrial Revolution era, library institutions in developed countries are turning into institutions that support creative activity by not only artists but also the general public. Korea's performing arts archives should also shift from the role of an old archive to a platform to create new cultural contents. This paper summarizes the changes in the Korean performing arts archive and presents the creative application of the performing arts archive in response to the fourth industrial revolution.

Locational Characteristics of Performing Art Industries and the Linkages with the Local Economic Landscape (공연예술 산업의 입지 특성과 지역 경제경관의 연계성)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the locational characteristics of performing art industries and to investigate the linkages with local economy. For the purpose, we examine the spatial concentration of cultural and artistic resources in Korea first, and than focus on Seoul where the resources of performing art industries are concentrated to the utmost. To distinguish the distribution aspect and locational characteristics of performing art industries, we apply the Kernel density analysis and LISA (Local Indicator of Spatial Association) on the address data of performing art theater, gallery, and movie theater. In contrast to galleries and movie theaters. the spatial distribution pattern of performing art theaters reveals a unique local cluster centered on the Daehakro area. We confirm that the Daehakro area constitutes a performing art industry cluster in their dense distribution of various related activities making up the value chain of the performing art industry. Multiple regression analysis probes the related economic activities to explain the distribution of performing art theaters as well as the linkages with the local economic landscape.

  • Social distancing caused a sharp industrial stagnation in the performance industry. Due to the continuous industrial downturn, as well as the livelihoods of many related workers, the outlook for the performance industry has reached a point where it is impossible to foresee the future. As a result of seeking various ways to recover from the continuing industrial stagnation, online concerts drew attention as the most effective alternative. Its development potential was highly evaluated as it could provide a performance culture to consumers while complying with social distancing. This study has value in terms of academic contribution as it slightly suggests a direction for the sustainable development of online performances presented as a breakthrough amid the social and industrial stagnation caused by the pandemic. therefore, this thesis describes the changes in the performance industry due to social distancing, and collects and analyzes examples of online performances by type to illuminate the value of online performances as an industry in the pandemic era and develops them. The possibility was reconsidered and the direction to be taken in the future was suggested. In each type of case, the cases focused on social value did not satisfy the economic value of profit creatiom, and even in the opposite case, if the profit creation was satisfied, the analysis result showed that the social value was not satisfied, and the planning intention of each performance was not satisfied. Accordingly, cases such as satisfying both profit creation and social value were also confirmed. Therefore, the direction for online performances was presented through the improvement of technologies and systems and the commercialization of existing platforms.

  • The propose of this paper is to present a new strategy for industrial promotion of Korea's performing arts. On the basis of the existing researches into the industrialized countries, it will be selected the economic characteristics of the performing arts industry, and be issued the policy directions of the industrial promotion of the performing arts sector. To derive a new strategy for industrial promotion of Korea's performing arts, we will consider the production, circulation, and consumption aspects of the performing arts sector, and will propose the systemization of the performing arts associated data base, and the proper division of the roles between the state and the private sector.

  • This study aims at examining the making and distribution course of performing arts and its converged form with technology and industry in terms of the Contents Promotion Act. Since the 2000s, the inter-area contents making and sharing methods have been changing the making and distribution structure of performing arts. The recent production of performing arts contents live videos extends the areas of arts creation and communication beyond the time and spatial boundaries of performing arts and changes the existing systems. The performing arts which started with nowness and spatio-temporal restriction on the premise is now creating a new platform over the spatio-temporal boundary through the live video. Performing arts, in convergence with the areas of technology and industries, expands universal approaches and shows the public value of cultural fairness at public performing arts centers. In this context, this study aims at seeking the possible extension of performing arts contents by examining how the so-called high-class performing arts such as opera, theatre and classical music combines with the visual industry.

  • Traditional Performing Arts is a key element of national competitiveness that represents the identity of a country. Preserving traditional performing arts such as traditional culture overall aggregate such as literature, art, music, dance, theater and enable it to meet future national culture is to secure a competitive brand. Meanwhile, it shrouded in advance global success of K-pop and TV content, such as our popular culture, but our traditional performing arts sector, there has been a steady effort to receive the attention of the world and expanding capacity and performance. Now, this point will be a new policy approach needed to expand more popular in both domestic and world demand in traditional performing arts. In this study, we propose a strategic plan to raise the popularization and industrialization of our own needs and unique traditional performing arts opportunities for successful overseas expansion and promotion of the content of traditional performing arts.With the help of information technology.

  • This study examines the history of string quartet performances and analyzes contemporary integrated performances to propose a new performance paradigm for future audiences. It examines past developments and audience interactions, and how modern classical performance can gain a competitive edge internationally through tech integration. Building on this foundation, a future vision is proposed for Korean string quartet performances, drawing from novel performances that are interconnected with their historical context. The study concludes that modern string quartets necessitate innovative and original performance directions that can be achieved through various technological integrations.

  • Korea performance tourism is becoming important role as a Korea tourism contents UNWTO emphasize 10 categories alternative tourism Culutural, Urban Tourism. In 2012, Foreign performance tourist surpassed 1.62 million. At this point government policy support is needed for qualitative development. To establish this support policy standard, evaluation scale is imperative. Delphi is designed as a performance expert group communication process which aim to achieve a convergence of opinion on Korea performance evaluation measures The AHP converts these evaluations to numerical values that can be processed and compared over the entire range of the problem. Evaluation Scale for Korea Performance is consist of 4 Main Category Division. This scale can suggest ways to improve Korea performances.

A Study on Improvement Plans of Public Support for Performing Arts Industry's Distribution (공연예술산업의 유통부문 지원 개선방안)

  • The subject of this study is to search for the improvements or solutions of problems in the field of the performing arts that relies on public support and faces economic difficulties. Considering the value chain for the performing arts industry is comprised of Creation-Distribution-Consumption is isolated relatively, this study aims to identify improvements for the distribution system. By examining the government's theater-oriented support policy, this study details methods of improvements in the distribution sector of the performing arts industry. Following the study of the performing arts industry and its value chain, the study analyzes the structure, factors and the present state in the performing arts industry, as well as the volume and type of public sector support for distribution. The study concludes by suggestingmagnifying government's Distribution sector supporting that was limited by only 2.7% in 2014, and fostering and specialty improvement of circulation agents such as production agencies.In addition, supporting distribution diversification, namely the extension of platforms like the Visualization of Performing Arts, is needed. These alternatives will contribute to balanced development and coevolution of each sector which comprises the performing arts industry's value chain.
