Studies on the Malic Acid Degradation in Wine by Yeast (Part 2) Zymologic Characteristics of Schizosaccharomyces japonicus var. iaponicus (효모에 의한 과실주중의 감산효과에 관한 연구 (제2보) Schizosaccharomyces japonicus var japonicus의 양조학적 성질)

  • The malo-alcoholic fermentation characteristics of Schiozaccharomyces japonicus var. japonicus which was freshly isolated from strawberry were studied. A good assimilation of malic acid by the strain was observed under the following conditions:pH 4.2∼4.8, alcohol content less than 12%, sulfur dioxide concentration less, than 150 ppm, and less than 0.01% of Mn$\^$2+/ as MnSO$_4$. The strain could remove 0.3% of malic acid completely in 6 days under stationary culture at 30$^{\circ}C$. Shaking the culture could promote growth of the strain but did not affect on the malo-alcoholic fermentation.

Effects of Geosynthetic Reinforcement on Compaction of High Water Content Clay (토목섬유 보강이 고함수비 점성토의 다짐에 미치는 영향)

  • This research was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of reinforcement for nearly saturated soft clay compaction. The effectiveness was investigated by roller compaction test using nearly saturated clay specimens. The nearly saturated condition was obtained by submerging clay in the water for 12 hours. High water content specimens were compacted in plane strain condition by a steel roller. A specimen was compacted by four 5 cm horizontal layers. Specimens were prepared fur both reinforced and unreinforced cases to evaluate the effectiveness of reinforcement. Used reinforcement is a composite consisted of both woven and non-woven geotextile. The composite usually provides drainage and tensile reinforcement to hi인 water-contented clay so that it increases bearing capacity. Therefore, large compaction load can be applied to reinforced clay and it achieves higher density effectively. The reinforcement also increases compaction efficiency because it reduces the ratio between shear and vertical forces during compaction process. The maximum vertical stress on the base of specimen usually decreased with higher compaction thickness. The reinforcement increases soil stiffness under the compaction roller and it initiates stress concentration. As a result, it maintains higher vertical stress level on the base of specimen that provides better compaction characteristics. Based on test results, it can be concluded that the reinforcement is essential to achieve effective compaction on soft clay.

  • In order to analyze the effect of strengthening the disclosure of remuneration for high-paid workers among the measures to improve the governance structure of financial companies by the Financial Services Commission in 2018, this study demonstrated the compensation system, management performance, and improvement of governance for Korean financial companies from 2015 to 2020. Analysis was performed. As a result of the empirical analysis, it was found that financial companies after 2018 decreased the employee compensation disparity and the majority shareholding ratio, while the stock performance and foreign ownership ratio increased. This study has the greatest contribution in that it is the first domestic study to verify the effect of applying the so-called Say on Pay, which discloses management's remuneration and allows shareholders to check its appropriateness through voting.

A Study of the Effectiveness and Status of the Information Security Disclosure System (정보보호 공시제도의 운영실태와 효과성 분석)

  • The information security disclosure system (ISDS) has been implemented since 2016 to ensure the protection of stakeholders and the right to know, and to promote voluntary investment in information protection by companies. Regarding the information security disclosure system, there have been studies that urge the implementation of the system, but studies that analyze the contents disclosed after the implementation of the system or suggest improvement directions are few. In this study, the contents of the information security disclosure system that had been announced on the information security industry promotion portal until 2019 were analyzed, the current status was summarized, and the direction of system improvement was suggested. In some cases, companies that disclosed information through the disclosure system increased the number of personnel in charge and obtained certifications related to information security, but did not find any effect on the increase/decrease in investment. The current disclosure system has not been activated because it has difficulty in giving individual companies incentives to disclose. Thus, this study suggests the inclusion of ISDS to information security management system (ISMS), which is currently mandatory for certain companies. In the current disclosure system, it is difficult for the company's stakeholders or customers to check the contents of the disclosure. As a way to do this, a method of including in the contents of the personal information processing policy or the notification of the use of personal information was suggested.

A Study on the Long-run Effect of Foreign Direct Investments: A VESA Approach (내재가치를 이용한 해외직접투자 공시기업의 장기효과에 관한 실증연구)

  • We test the hypothesis whether foreign direct investments(hereafter "FDI") can affect the changes of the firm value. In this study, we use a newly developed event study technique, referred to as value-based event study approach(hereafter "VESA"), which is based on the seminal papers of M&M(1958, 1961, 1963) and Lee(2006, 2007). The empirical findings about the effects of FDI's on the intrinsic firm values, which can be measured by intrinsic Q(hereafter "IQ") values of the VESA, are as follows; First, the FDI's are carried out by healthy firms in terms of high IQ's. The IQ values become higher during the post-FDI period than prior to performing FDI's. Second, among the four components of IQ values, the value of assets-in-place, the value of intangible assets, and the value of growth opportunities are all increased during the post-FDI period, except the value of current earnings. Third, the same results are observed in all the samples classified by industry. In sum, thanks to the above findings in this study, we can conclude that the announcements of the FDI's are good and reliable indicators for the firm to signal to the market that the FDI firms are healthy in intrinsic firm values, and also that they have good chances to increase their firm values through the new investments abroad.

  • Studies on the varietal resistance and effects of nutrients for fungal growth were carried out in order to obtain basic materials for breeding resistant variety and control measures of the red pepper anthracnose disease caused by Colletotrichum dematium f. sp. capsicum. Four cultivars such as Kumchang No. 2, Bulamhouse, Pakistan, Hongilpum were resistant among twenty-one pepper cultivars, and five cultivars including Taiwan pepper were moderate. The remaining twelve cultivars including H-038 and Saegochu were susceptible. These susceptible cultivars were mostly belonged to sweet taste cultivars. Glucose was known the best source for fungal growth, and near 3 percent of carbon concentration was the best for mycelial growth of the fungus. Conidial sporulation was rather decreased by adding high concentrations of C-source, whereas fungal dry weight was a positive tendency in proportion to increasing carbon concentrations. N-sources and vitamins were not remarkable as that for carbon, and rather a decreasing trend for mycelial growth by adding N-source. Especially, the lowest of mycelial growth was in the case of Czapek-Dox plus ammonium sulfate. The medium plus vitamins either niacin or thiamine was slightly increased to mycelial growth.

Control Effect of Bacillus subtilis B-4228 on Root Rot of Panax ginseng (Bacillus subtilis B-4228의 인삼 근부병 억제효과)

  • Bacillus subtilis B-4228 selected from ginseng field soil for prevention of rusty root was tested for the control of ginseng root rot. In petri-plate dual culture, mycelial growth of Cylindrocarpon destructans was inhibited by B-4228 and hyphal swelling of C. destructans was occurred. In pot experiment with C. destructans-contaminated soil B-4228 dipping of ginseng seedling showed significant preventive effect of root rot (p=0.01), percent healthy root 82% and 20% for treatment and control, root rot rate 6% and 50.4%, respectively.

  • A field Experiment was conducted to evaluate a newly formulated N-K compound fertilizer (17-0-17) as a topdress ing fertilizer for rice in a poorly drained clayey soil, using Milyang 23 rice as test crop. The results are summarized as follows : 1. Both in terms of rice yield and uptake ratio of applied K, it was found that the tested N-K compound fertilizer is more effective than potassium chloride. 2. The detailied causes for the superiority of new compound fertilizer were not clarified.

A Study on the Performance of the M&A Firm in KOSDAQ (코스닥시장 M&A기업의 성과에 관한 연구)

  • The results of the research in M&A firms in the KOSDAQ market are as follows. First, the effect of the M&A disclosure at the time of disclosure was that the positive (+) cumulative abnormal return (CAR) can be interpreted as an increase in the value of the firm; however, in the long run, firms which used the KOSDAQ index and the control firm, which did not use the index were found to have conflicting results. Second, the findings show that the rise in value of general firms resulting from a M&A were higher that those of venture firms. Third, in testing the performance extrapolation hypothesis, it was shown that the performance of "value" firms (firms with a high B/M ratio but poor performance in the past) was better after a M&A than those of the "glamour" firms and that the performance extrapolation hypothesis was substantiated. Fourth, it can be construed that a size effect in a merger exists. The CAR of the small firms surpasses those of large firms. Fifth, in verifying operating performance, most variables showed a positive (+) value at the time of M&A but showed a negative (-) value after a M&A. These results show that because on the Korean KOSDAQ market, M&A are approached from a financial rather than an economic aspect, it can be inferred that it lowers the firms value.

효모에 의한 과실주중의 감산 효과에 관한 연구 제2보 Schizosaccharomyces japonicus var. japonicus의 양조학적 성질

  • 이미 발표한 바와 같이 사과산을 강력히 분해하는 Schizosacharomyces japonicus var. japonicus를 과실주에 직접 적용하기 위한 기초적 자료를 얻고자 하여 양조학적 성질을 검토한 바를 보고하고자 한다. 사과산의 정량은 paper chromatograohy에 의하여 발색시킨 사과산의 spot를 Goodban의 방법에 의하여 비색 정량하였다. 본 공시균은 pH 4.2~4.8, 알코올 12% 이하, $SO_2는$ 150ppm 이하, $Mn^{2+}$$MnSO_4$ 로서 0.01% 이하의 농도에서 양호한 Maloalcohol 발효를 유도하였다. 더욱 공시균은 7.5%의 알코올을 생성시켰다. 당류의 첨가는 Maloalcohol 발효를 저해하였으며 정치 배양과 진탕 배양과의 차이점은 거의 인정할 수 없으나 공시균의 생육은 진탕 배양하므로 촉진되었다. 0.3%의 사과산을 $30^{\circ}C에서$ 정치 배양하므로 배양 6일로서 완전히 분해하였다.
