Analyzing the Requirements for Improving Construction Managers' Work-life Balance (건축공사 현장관리자의 근로실태 및 워라밸 분석)

  • It has been widely-reported that the quality of life in Korea is lower than that of the economic growth. In particular, construction managers are reported to have a lower quality of life compared to people in other job types due to the specific nature of the tasks they have to carry out. These include early work attendance time and fewer holidays. In this respect, the aim of this study is to analyse construction managers' requirements on work-life balance. The results showed that the working hours of construction managers were long and their leisure hours were shorter. The requirements for work-life balance were in the order of non-working time, working time, salary, and job security. The requirements by group showed a statistically significant difference in work hours. The requirements on the shortening of work hours were highest in the group of "section chiefs and deputy heads" and lowest in the group of "department heads" and up. It is hoped that the results of this study will be used as basic data for future government-level policy making and construction companies' business directions in relation to the improvement of workers' work-life balance.

  • 인천 남동공단에서 약 9Km 떨어진 해상에 준설, 매립하여 조성된 3만평의 인공섬에 위치한 인천 LPG 수입기지 현장은 인천광역시와 수도권 지역에 민수용 LPG의 안정적인 공급을 하기 위하여 건설되는 LPG저장용 지하동굴 공사 현장이다. 저장 용량은 Propane가스 17만톤($34만5천\textrm{mm}^3$), Butane가스 7만톤($12만5천\textrm{mm}^3$) 이다. 지하저장시설은 대용량의 액화가스를 주변환경을 해치지 않으면서 화재나 전쟁, 지진등 재해로부터 안전하게 보호 하는데 가장 경제적이고 효율적이며, 운전 및 유지 보수 비용이 적게 드는데다 국토의 효율적인 활용과 공사비가 저렴하다는 장점을 갖고 있다.(중략)

  • In order to achieve the best performance of a project, uncertainties involved in the building construction process need to be identified in the planning phase of the project. Risk management plays a significant role in construction to minimize risk occurred due to uncertainties of a project. Although the importance of the risk management has been known to the construction industry, a more effective system should be developed to meet the demands of the industry. The purpose of this study is to develop the effective risk management system for scheduling the construction processes. The study provides a tool that can optimize the management system which would assist managers to identify schedule risks in the planning phase of the project.

  • Recently, a concept of the downtown area was progressively extended by improvement of rapid transportation system and development of the most advanced telecommunication industries. And underground has become bigger in addition deeper, Excavation methods which construct a structure were changed according to construction environments. Top Down methods which are continuous with architectural plan differ from existing excavation methods innovatively, pre-founded column is an important factor for construction methods, duration, expenses. Therefore, this study considers application by investigative methods according to comparison, analysis on loading test result of on site inspection and estimated results of bearing capacity for structure pre-founded column. As a result, almost designing eclipse appeared prior value which didn't arrive result of load test. Also, evaluate permanent load for the compressive stress acting on head of cast-in-place after basic structure was installed. Then, applying stress generally is reduced by confining effect with foundation.

Crafting a Quality Performance Evaluation Model Leveraging Unstructured Data (비정형데이터를 활용한 건축현장 품질성과 평가 모델 개발)

  • The frequent occurrence of structural failures at building construction sites in Korea has underscored the critical role of rigorous oversight in the inspection and management of construction projects. As mandated by prevailing regulations and standards, onsite supervision by designated supervisors encompasses thorough documentation of construction quality, material standards, and the history of any reconstructions, among other factors. These reports, predominantly consisting of unstructured data, constitute approximately 80% of the data amassed at construction sites and serve as a comprehensive repository of quality-related information. This research introduces the SL-QPA model, which employs text mining techniques to preprocess supervision reports and establish a sentiment dictionary, thereby enabling the quantification of quality performance. The study's findings, demonstrating a statistically significant Pearson correlation between the quality performance scores derived from the SL-QPA model and various legally defined indicators, were substantiated through a one-way analysis of variance of the correlation coefficients. The SL-QPA model, as developed in this study, offers a supplementary approach to evaluating the quality performance of building construction projects. It holds the promise of enhancing quality inspection and management practices by harnessing the wealth of unstructured data generated throughout the lifecycle of construction projects.

  • 경기 남양주 진접지구는 수도권에서 인기가 높은 신도시 중 하나다. 서울과 인접해 있으면서도 한적한 전원의 정취를 느낄 수 있기 때문. 최적의 주거환경을 갖춘 곳이지만 딱 한 가지 아쉬운 것이 있으니 바로 교통문제다. 진접지구와 서울을 잇는 유일한 도로인 국도47호선 퇴계원-진접구간은 상습 지 정체구간으로 악명 높다. 진접지구가 개발됨에 따라 인구유입은 지속적으로 늘고 있는데 반해 도로는 이를 감당키 어려운 4차로에 불과한 것. 그래서 지역민들은 늘 교통대란에 시달리고 있는 상황이다. 하지만 이 고생도 올해면 끝날 듯하다. 퇴계원-진접간 도로를 8차로로 확장하는 공사를 맡고 있는 쌍용건설이 공사에 더욱 박차를 가하고 있기 때문이다. 게다가 우수한 안전관리로 대 내외에 이름까지 떨치고 있어 도로의 안전성은 물론 공정 전반이 신뢰를 얻고 있다. 안전으로 미래 진접을 열어갈 길을 만들고 있는 쌍용건설(주) 퇴계원-진접간 도로공사 현장을 찾아가 봤다.
