Tolerance analysis of auto body requires the consideration of its compliance because of potentially significant deformation during the spot-weld assembly process. In this paper, a relatively recent method for such analyses is briefly introduced as one can find in the literature. In this method, it is important to take into account of the covariance between the sources of variation as they are closely located, which is the case in most auto body assembly. However, it is often impossible to know such covariance, for example, when a new car is being developed. Therefore, a mechanics-based method is proposed in this paper to estimate the covariance among the sources of variation by finite element analyses and simple statistical computations. The proposed method is illustrated by applying it to a three-dimensional model of real front wheel housing.

When a tracking filter may be designed in the Cartesian coordinate, the covariance of the measurement errors varies according to the range and the bearing of an interested target. In this paper, interacting multiple model based tracking filter is formulated in the Cartesian coordinate utilizing the analytic solution of the steady state Kalman filter, which can be able to consider the variation of the measurement error covariance. 100 Monte Carlo runs performed to verify the proposed method. The performance of the proposed method is compared with the conventional fixed gain and Kalman filter based IMM tracking filter in terms of the root mean square error. The simulation results show that the proposed approach meaningfully reduces the computation time and provides a similar tracking performance in comparison with the conventional Kalman filter based IMM tracking filter.

The 3-dimensional deformation measurement by the terrestrial photogrammetry is consist of 3-dimensional coordinates computation, displaced point detection and deformation estimation of object targets. In this study, at the first step of deformation analysis, the variation of the variance-covariance matrix for the exterior orientation elements was analyzed by the increment of the ground control points and the photos in the Bundle adjustment. And then, to give the constraints for improving accuracy of ground control points, the concept of Free-Network adjustment was applied to Bundle adjustment. As a result, we knew that it was desired in the accuracy and the economy, the observation time when the numbers of ground control point and photo were respectively 6 points and 3 photos. In addition, in the case of applying the concept of Free Network adjustment in Bundle adjutment, it was desirable that the space distance for the constraints is distributed outside.

This paper presents an on-line finite element model updating method for in-service structures using measured data. Conventional updating methods, which are based on numerical optimization, are not efficient for on-line updating because they generally require repeated eigenvalue analyses until convergence criteria are met. The proposed method enables fully automated on-line finite element model updating, almost simultaneously with vibration measurement, without any user intervention or off-line procedures. The automated covariance-driven stochastic subspace identification (Cov-SSI) method is utilized to identify modal frequencies and vectors, and the identified modal data is fed to the neural network of the inverse eigenvalue function to produce the updated finite element model parameters. Numerical examples for a wind excited 20-story building structure shows that the proposed method can update the series of finite element model parameters automatically. It is also shown that sudden changes in the structural parameters can be detected and traced successfully.

Frequency hopping system has been adopted to many communication systems in order to overcome the inferior situation such as jamming environment. But typically its processing gain being limited, data interfered by jamming signal could not be fully recovered. This can be enhanced by combing FH system with spatial interference canceller which is a kind of active beamformer In this Paper, we proposed the compensation method of weight vector discrepancy according to the hopped frequencies and the PMBF method which is able to eliminate the inference effectively with less computational complexity. That is, the steering vector of wanted signals can be calculated from the frame without jamming signals using eigen analysis. New projection matrix extracted by the steering vector of wanted signal eliminates the interferences from the covariance matrix of received signal including wanted signal and jamming signals. This PMBF has similar performance of SINR beamformer with less computational complexity.
This study introduced speical characteristics of an epidemiologic study on blood pressure and compared several statistical methods for evaluating the tracking phenomenon of blood pressure for Korean children. While correlation coefficients adjusted for measurement error are commonly used for the evaluation of tracking, it is hard to interpretate the results when correlation functions for lag-difference are not monotonous. McMahan defined a tracking as maintenance of relative rank over time and calculated tracking index usng growth curve model. The tracking index in McMahan's model is complicate to calculate, and it is hard to determine the degree of growth curve parameter. Blomqvist showed the relationship between the rate of change and the initial value. This concept could be extended for the evaluation of tracking. However, it is not so easy to interpretate the estimates in his model when those are non-positive.
Foreign investors who invest in the Korean stock markets are exposed to two kinds of foreign exchange rate risk, the economic exposure and the translation exposure. The former is the foreign exchange rate exposure in return generating process of the assets invested and the latter is the foreign exchange rate exposure in the translation of domestic return into foreign investors' currency. Domestic investors, however, are exposed only to foreign exchange rate exposure in the asset invested. This different situation on foreign exchange rate exposure between foreign investors and domestic investors can induce different response to exchange rate change by investor groups. Previous studies on foreign exchange rate exposure of Korean firms reported that quite a few Korean firms are exposed to foreign exchange risks and suggested to manage the foreign exchange risks. Also, many studies on the market segmentation showed that a market can be practically segmented according to the characteristics of investor groups. These studies support the hypothesis that the Korean stock market can be practically segmented by the foreign investors' attitude to the foreign exchange rate exposure. This study examines the response of both foreign investors and domestic investors to the foreign exchange rate exposures in Korean stock markets. Test results show that foreign investors increase their sell transactions when the foreign exchange rate exposure of the previous day is negative. This result can be possible when foreign investors attempt to actively manage the decrease in value of their assets due to rising of exchange rate. Analysis on the sell order data is also supportive to this interpretation. Foreign investors also increase their buy transactions when the foreign exchange rate exposure of the previous day is negative. This result can be possible when foreign investors use actively the relation between the increase in asset value and the translation gain due to declining of exchange rate. Analyses on buy order data, however, do not show the same result as the analyses on transaction data. This difference may come from the difference of information contained in transaction data and order data. In summary, the result of the paper supports the hypothesis that foreign investors response differently to foreign exchange rate exposure compared with domestic, Korean investors. Two groups do not show different response when exchange rate exposure is positive, i.e., as foreign exchange rate is increase (decrease), the asset value is increase (decrease). However, foreign investors' response is different from that of domestic investors when exchange rate exposure is negative, i.e., as foreign exchange rate is increase (decrease), the asset value is decrease (increase). These results mean that foreign investors and domestic investors are placed in different situations related to foreign exchange rate exposure, and these differences are reflected in the Korean stock markets. And domestic investors need to consider foreign investors' different attitude to the foreign exchange rate exposure when they analysis foreign investors' trading behavior.

For detection and parameter estimation, a multicarrier radar should discriminate a channel containing jamming signal and either leave it out or regenerate jammer suppressed target signal. To discriminate jamming channels, we use the angular spectrum of an eigenvector that embeds target echoes and jamming signals. We propose a criteria to discriminate the jammer channels and its basis through mathematical analysis. Moreover, we show some procedures to regenerate the jammer suppressed target echoes. Finally, the validity of the proposed method is demonstrated through simulation results showing improved performance in terms of direction of arrival(DOA) estimation.

The line-of-sight(LOS) rate is estimated using Kalman filter in Radio-Frequency(RF) seeker. For the two axis gimbaled seeker, proper system modeling is considered and the basic filter structure is set up. The main issue for Kalman filter is choosing the proper process and measurement noise. For the measurement process, the signal to noise ratio(SNR) and other components are introduced. To cope with the eclipse problem or other abnormal seeker status, the pseudo input signal concept is proposed. By conditioning abnormal signals, the LOS rate estimation performance is increased. The process noise is also an important factor in the propagation phase. The analytical approach on a process noise component is performed and a reliable region for the filter is calculated based on the eigenvalue analysis. Some numerical simulations are performed to check the validity of suggested algorithm.
This paper proposes the H∞ norm based data association gate method to apply robustly the data association gate of passive sonar automatic target tracking which is on non-linear targets in dense cluttered environment. For target tracking, data association method selects the measurements within validated gate, which means validated measuring extent, as candidates for the data association. If the extent of the validated gate in the data association is not proper or the data association executes under dense cluttered environment, it is difficult to maintain the robustness of target tracking due to interference of clutter measurements. To resolve this problem, this paper proposes a novel gating method which applies H∞ norm based bisection algorithm combined with 3-σ gate method under Gaussian distribution assumption and tracking error covariance. The proposed method leads to alleviate the interference of clutters and to track the non-linear maneuvering target robustly. Through analytic method and simulation to utilize simulated data of horizontal and vertical bearing measurements, improvement of data association robustness is confirmed contrary to the conventional method.
