  • It is well known that the acoustic cavity inside the tire-wheel assembly contributes to vehicle interior noise and ride comfort. In this paper, we performed acoustic and structural modal testings by varying the temperature ranging from $20^{\circ}\;to\;45^{\circ}C$ to investigate the effects of temperature on acoustic cavity resonance and structural vibration characteristics for unloaded and loaded tires. The testing has given us some findings, which are reported in this paper.

  • The vibration characteristic of tire is heavily related to the noise and comfort on driving. Therefore, in this paper, we investigate modal charateristic of non-pneumatic tires with Honeycomb spokes. The modal analysis of non-pneumatic tire is investigated for geometric of non-pneumatic tire(NPT) which is designed according to the cell angle of honeycomb cell. Investigation of natural frequencies and mode shapes of non-pneumatic tire are compared regular type NPT with auxetic type NPT. The analysis is based on the finite element method and used ABAQUS program which is able to analyze of non-linear. The material of NPT is used for the Ogden energy model which is model of hyperelastic material. As a result, natural frequencies and mode shapes of non-pneumatic tires with honeycomb spokes are affected by the angle of honeycomb cell.

  • For the prevention of environmental pollution, there have been many researches which are eco-friendly vehicles in the automobile industry. In this paper, we studied for the non-pneumatic tires(NPT)can increase fuel consumption compared to conventional pneumatic tires. On driving, energy loss of tires occur when tires impact an obstacle on the road. This energy loss directly is relate to the fuel efficiency. Therefore, the energy loss of non-pneumatic tires is compared before and after impact. In this study, the results of energy loss of non-pneumatic tires and pneumatic tires was compared, when tires are rolled over an obstacle. As a result, the energy loss of non-pneumatic tires was less than pneumatic tires. This researches were performed the ABAQUS using finite element method and obtained the difference of velocity and kinetic energy from the program.

  • In this paper, we propose the design technique of the vehicle's load weight measuring system using tire pressure, which is one of the physical elements of tires. The proposed technique consists of four processes: noise correction by load and vibration, gas flow correction, data mixer and weight conversion. Noise correction by load and vibration eliminates noise that increases the tire's internal pressure due to external shocks and vibrations produced by the vehicle while it is in motion. In the gas flow correction process, the noise of the internal pressure of the tire is increased due to the temperature rise of the ground with respect to the data obtained through the noise correction process due to the load and vibration. In the data mixer process, the load and pressure on the tolerances the empty, median and the full load are classified according to the change in pressure of the tire that is delivered perpendicular to the tire in the event of cargo. In the weight conversion process, weight is expressed by weight through weight conversion algorithms using noise correction results by load and vibration and gas flow correction. The weight conversion algorithm calculates the weight conversion factor, which is the slope of the linear function with respect to the load and pressure change, and converts the weight. In order to evaluate the accuracy of the loading weight measurement system of the vehicle using the tire pneumatic system technique proposed in this paper, we propose the design technique of the vehicle's load weight measuring system using tire pressure, which is one of the physical elements of tires.. Noise correction results by load and vibration and gas flow data correction results showed reliable results. In addition, repeated weight precision test showed better weight accuracy than the standard value of 90% of domestic companies.

  • The noise generated from a treadband mechanism of a tire has been the subject of this research. In particular, the treadband has been treated as an infinite tensioned beam resting on an elastic foundation which includes damping. The main objective is to predict the sound power generated from a system mentioned above by locating harmonic point forces representing the excitation of treadband at the contact patch. It is possible to predict the sound power radiated from this structure by using wavenumber transformation techniques. In order to find out the minimum radiated sound power, All parameters were varied. Thus, this model can be used as a tire design guide for selecting parameters which produces the minimum noise radiation.

  • It is known that tire plays an important role to the dynamic performances of a vehicle such as noise, vibration, ride and handling. Therefore, force and moment measurements have been a part of the traditional tire engineering process. In this paper, a computational analysis technique has been explored. A FE model is made to simulate inflation, vertical load due to the vehicle weight, and the slow rolling of a radial tire. A rigid surface with Coulomb friction is included in the model to simulate the slow rolling contact. The tire slip during the in-plane motion of the rigid surface is calculated. Results are presented for both lateral and vertical loads, as well as straight ahead free rolling. The calculated and measured tire slips are in good correlation. A Study on slow Rolling Tire for perdiction of tire Forces and Moments.

  • Vehicle interior noise is the results of numerous sources of excitation. One source involving tire pavement interaction is the tire cavity resonance and the forcing it provides to the vehicle spindle. Using a simplified model for the tire acoustic cavity system only, we formulated finite element equation to predict the fundamental acoustic cavity resonant characteristics inside tire-wheel assembly of undeformed and deformed tire. Combining the finite element analysis with experimental verification, we explained the acoustic characteristics theoretically. Especially, we have shown that the difference between the first two resonant frequencies increases as the deformation of deformed tire increases.
