An investigation on analysis of heavy vehicle cooling fan system by radiator consideration and blade number (대형차량용 냉각팬 날개수 및 주변장치에 의한 압력강하에 따른 성능해석 연구)

  • 본 논문에서 연구하고자 하는 팬은 대형 차량용 라디에이터 냉각팬으로써 수치해석을 통한 일반적인 팬의 성능 평가시 팬과 쉬라우드의 형상만을 이용하여 시뮬레이션 하지만 라디에이터를 거쳐 공기가 유입되는 실제 현상에 좀 더 가깝게 모사하고자 라디에이터의 압력 부하를 고려한 시뮬레이션을 수행하였고 기존 해석 결과와 비교하였다. 연구된 냉각팬은 쉬라우드의 전방에 라디에이터가 설치되며 라디에이터를 통하여 공기가 유입되기 때문에 라디에이터의 압력 부하에 따라 팬 성능에 영향을 준다. 라디에이터의 압력 부하 성능을 모사하기 위하여 쉬라우드 입구에 박스 형태로 라디에이터의 외부 크기를 모델링 한 후 수치해석 시 porous media model을 사용하여 풍속에 따른 압력 강하 곡선을 적용하였다. 수치해석에서 porous media model을 적용할 경우 실제적인 형상 모델링 없이도 실험으로부터 도출한 성능곡선을 조건으로 입력하여 실제 현상에 가까운 시뮬레이션을 할 수 있다. 그리고 팬 날개수 증가에 따른 해석을 수행하여, 날개수 변경에 따른 성능개선의 여지를 확인 하였다.

  • It is a serious subject for energy conservation to prevent the energy loss caused by mixing of heated and cooled air jets in a building which two types of air-conditioning systems are adopted in perimeter and interior zone. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the quantitative and qualitative mechanisms of the mixing loss and to propose preventive methods for it. In this paper, by using the dynamic heat load calculation method, heat extraction loads of a typical office building in Pusan are calculated. According to the results, numerical simulation based on the computational fluid dynamics were peformed in order to measure the mixing loss in physical size HVAC system. Then, the distributions of air temperature and velocity are analyzed in order to grasp the relations by setting temperature differences influence on the mixing loss.

  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis has been performed to estimate the air temperature inside an Auxiliary Feed Water (AFW) Motor-Driven (MD) pump room for the case where there is loss of Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning (HVAC). A transient calculation for the closed pump room without cooling by any HVAC system shows that the volume-averaged air temperature reaches around $60^{\circ}C$ for a transient period of 8.0 h. From previous studies, the external air and surface boundary temperatures are assumed to increase slowly starting from an initial temperature of $35^{\circ}C$. For the cases where the door is opened at 2, 4, and 6 h after the initiation of HVAC failure, the average air temperature promptly drops by about $4^{\circ}C$ when the door is opened and then slowly increases. The current calculations based on the CFD technique predict the rate of increase of air temperature to be lower than that determined by previous conservative calculations on the basis of a lumped model.

  • After installation of platform screen door (PSD) in subway stations, particulate matters (PMs), which are originally ventilated through the platform, are accumulated inside the tunnel of the subway system. It deteriorates an air quality inside the tunnel. To ventilate the accumulated PMs inside the tunnel, the natural ventilator which are located inside the tunnel (namely, tunnel ventilation system) are used as only one circulation system. In addition, the installation of PSD can affect to the aerodynamic variations inside the tunnel, since the PSD system was not considered factor when the tunnel ventilation system was designed. However, the researches about the tunnel ventilation system have not been adequate. Therefore, this study is carried out with two objectives: 1) to measure the velocity of air current by the train-induced wind, when the train passes through the tunnel, and 2) to investigate the typical patterns of air current by quantitatively evaluating the characteristics of inflow/outflow of air current which passes through the natural ventilation system. This study can suggest the basic standard to newly design the tunnel of the subway system as well as the ventilation system.

  • 토양 수분은 육상 생태계를 지배하는 핵심 변수로 널리 간주되어 왔다. 따라서 토양 수분을 모니터링하고 추정하는 것은 수문, 농업, 생화학적, 및 기후 역학을 평가하는 데 필수적이다. 그러나 최대 토양 접촉을 요구하는 기존의 토양 수분 모니터링 방법은, 토양 교란을 최소화하여 토양의 고유 특성을 보전하지 못하는 한계가 있다. 이 문제를 극복하기 위해 본 연구에서는 비접촉 초음파 시스템을 이용하여 토양 수분을 평가 방법을 개발하였다. 이 시스템은 공기-토양 조인트 절반 공간에서 누설 레일리파(Rayleigh wave)를 측정하도록 설계되었다. 토양 수분의 변화에 대한 누설 레일리파의 측정은 통제된 실험 설계에서 모래, 실트, 점토와 같은 세 가지 토양 유형에서 평가하였다. 본 연구 결과에서 세 가지 토양 사례 모두, 누설 레일리파의 에너지와 토양 수분 사이에 밀접한 관계가 있음을 보였다. 그러나 모래에서 얻은 동적 매개변수의 특성은 실트 및 점토의 특성과 다른 형태를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 미세한 토양 입자와 대조적으로 굵은 토양 입자는 증발 과정에서 감소된 토양 강도로 설명될 수 있다. 관측된 누설 레일리파에서 얻은 동적 매개변수를 기반으로 토양 수분을 평가하기 위해 랜덤 포레스트 모형을 이용하였다. 예측된 토양 수분의 정확도는 모든 데이터 및 토양 유형에 관계없이 높은 정확도를 보였다(R2 ≥ 0.98, RMSE ≤ 0.0089 m3 m-3). 즉, 본 연구에서는 레일리파가 토양 교란 없이 토양 수분 변화를 지속적으로 평가할 수 있는 큰 잠재력을 가지고 있음을 보여주었다.

  • In this study, an air cleaner is considered to improve comfort, safety, and health of automobile passengers. The performance and installation conditions of the air cleaner have been studied to investigate their effects on the air quality in the cabin room using numerical analysis. A five-passenger sedan and a seven-passenger minivan that have comparatively large indoor volume have been considered. The distributions of the local mean age and the volume averaged age of indoor air are calculated according to the variation of the placement and the air flow of the air cleaner. In addition, a decrease of contamination concentration, especially VOCs(volatile organic compounds), by the air cleaner is numerically analyzed with time-accurate unsteady calculation to quantify the effect of the air cleaner on the indoor air quality. As a result, the effective installation and operation conditions of the air cleaner for the automobile cabin room could be suggested.

  • The supersonic wind tunnel is a common facility to studies the aerodynamic phenomenon around the high speed vehicle or weapon system whose operating speed is greater than sonic speed. In this study, a design procedure and selecting the components of a new supersonic wind tunnel whose nozzle exit is $125mm{\times}100mm$ is considered. An operating test of this wind tunnel is being conducted to compare the result with the design values, mach number, etc.

  • In a material, micro-cracks can be progressively occurred, propagated and finally lead to failure when it is subjected to cyclic or periodic loading less than its ultimate strength. This phenomenon, fatigue, is usually considered in a metal, alloy and structures under repeated loading conditions. In underground structures, a static creep behavior rather than a dynamic fatigue behavior is mostly considered. However, when compressed air is stored in a rock cavern, an inner pressure is periodically changed due to repeated in- and-out process of compressed air. Therefore mechanical properties of surrounding rock mass and an inner lining system under cyclic loading/unloading conditions should be investigated. In this study, considering an underground lined rock cavern for compressed air energy storage (CAES), the mechanical properties of a lining system, that is, concrete lining and plug under periodic loading/unloading conditions were characterized through cyclic bending tests and shear tests. From these tests, the stability of the plug was evaluated and the S-N line of the concrete lining was obtained.

Assessment of the Running Resistance of a High-speed Train Using a Coasting Test (타행 시험을 이용한 고속열차 주행저항 평가)

  • The resistance to motion of the Korean next-generation high-speed train (HEUM-430X) was assessed on the basis of 12 coasting test runs at coasting speeds up to approximately 380km/h. Two different methods, a linear regression method and a time-integral method, were employed to calculate decelerations from the time-velocity data and the time-distance data, respectively, and an equation of resistance to motion was devised from the deceleration data calculated at each time section. The effect of an improvement of the aerodynamic shape on the resistance to motion was investigated, with the results showing that the running resistance was reduced by about 15% due to these improvements. An increase of approximately 28% of the running resistance was also noted when running in a tunnel relative to running through an open field.
